xwingyoda Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) Guys and gals, There are currently too many competitions going on EB. Sure its great to have those but we need to limit the amount of competitions running at the same time so we can enjoy them to the fullest ;-) So if you want to start a competition, please post it in this thread and the staff will schedule them ;-) In order for us to do the best scheduling possible, please provide us the following elements: * theme of competition * format: vig or something different * length of competition * forum where its going to take place * please specify the different categories if any AND the prize allocation to each * what prizes are offered (bearing in mind that we won't give titles for every competition ;-) ) * Do not change the terms of the contests under way without the prior consent of a staff member Also bear in mind that every competition started without the staff approval shall be closed !! Also these rules are not subject to discussions so every post that is discussing those shall be deleted ;-) Thank you in advance guys. So be creative, patient and and remember, Competition ON !! *yoda* Edited November 4, 2007 by xwingyoda

Hinckley Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 One-on-one competitions or "smackdowns" don't need to be approved...

Stauder Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I was thinking of a deep sea submarine contest... Just a Idea... Theme: Divers Format: Veichle (Submarine) Length: 2 Weeks Forum: Town Prize: Guest star in a interview?
Jipay Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 This thread is for contest requests, not for ideas...
Captain Green Hair Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) I'd like to do a contest for small sailing ships from the year 1550 untill 1800 with the use of the 6 wide bow bricks. This, because we don't see too many MOCS made with these and they make nice adittion to a harbour. Like a coastguard, a merchant, inspection ship or yacht for your governor. It should run for four weeks. It should be on the pirates forum. No decals, gleu or tape is allowed. String and custom sails are allowed, however sails are not needed deu to the prize. (i suggest to make paper ones for MOC up) For the winner i will make the sails, i will send these worldwide. And maybe the admins have something for second place? So, this is a serious request, just let me know when i can. Note: i will need some help X-D Edit: i need some help with a poll, i can make a banner myself, just need help posting them all over the place.. Edited November 1, 2007 by Captain green hair
Stauder Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 This thread is for contest requests, not for ideas... Well, the point was, if you tought it was good, Id do it. No point in a stupid contest is there? ;-)
Hinckley Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 :-D Logical thought, Stauder. But our point is not to regulate contest content but only to schedule the contests in a reasonable manner. :-) But, like jipay said, bring us a solid contest and we'll schedule it for you. This purpose of this thread is not to discuss contest ideas.
Starwars4J Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Well. Lets make what I posted solid. :-) Well, were you going to do this contest before this topic started? Like it's been said before, this isn't about discussing topics, it's about scheduling contests. That's all. This also isn't here to push people to make contests or anything like that :-P
Stauder Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I was planning it for the past month, but there where too many contests so I didint even bother posting it ;-)
xwingyoda Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 That topic is NOT intended to create contests for the sake of it !! Its just to schedule real and interesting contests to host between 2/3 of them !! So if you don't know exactly the terms of what you intend to host, don't bother posting that at all !! We don't look kindly on vague and uninteresting contests :-| And posting an idea here doesn't necessarilly mean you will host it anyway !! No assurances here !! So please think before you post |-/ EDIT: bear in mind that we want to promote quality and NOT quantity ;-) *yoda*
VBBN Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) I have two: * theme of competition- The "Make your addition to a city" contest * format: Baseplate, any dimension. * length of competition-2-3 weeks * forum where its going to take place- Trains and Town * what prizes are offered-homeade image(banner, avata, etc) entries to my drawing, and another surprise!! * The members need to build their addition to a city/town. It can be a resturant, or a hotel. It will be based on quality, and neatness. * theme of competition- SigFig Vig * format: vig no overlap allowed. * length of competition-2-3 weeks * forum where its going to take place- Your own creations * what prizes are offered-homeade image(banner, avata, etc) AND have their name put into the ultra parts giveaway drawing! * It will be based on how well the MOCist displayed their SigFig in their element, neatness, and creativity. Edit: More rules added to the format section. Edited November 28, 2007 by ~VBBN~
xwingyoda Posted November 4, 2007 Author Posted November 4, 2007 Okie guys I shall edit my first post to add the following rules: * please specify the different categories if any AND the prize allocation to each * Do not change the terms of the contests under way without the prior consent of a staff member Tks for your attention ;-) *yoda*
VBBN Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 (edited) * please specify the different categories if any AND the prize allocation to each Wait, what? I am confused. *wacko* Can you please explain that a little more? * Do not change the terms of the contests under way without the prior consent of a staff member Does that refer to the rules or what our contests are based on? ~VBBN~ Edited November 4, 2007 by ~VBBN~
xwingyoda Posted November 4, 2007 Author Posted November 4, 2007 Wait, what? I am confused. *wacko* Let me shed a light for you then ;-) A themed contest can have different categories so if it does we need to have that specified. Let me give you an example Contest theme: MOC postal truck and we could have categories such as: * best design * best construction * best TLC feel (...) Does that refer to the rules or what our contests are based on? I guess both if I understand you question !! View it as fairness if you will: once the terms of the contest are set and the contest is taking place, the rules of the contest cannot be changed UNLESS the staff agrees Hope that I clarified them for you ;-) *yoda*
VBBN Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Yup! Thanks *yoda* ! I'll go update my request form. Now I understand what you are saying. Thanks again! ~VBBN~

UniqueBuilder Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 how about a transformers contest?thanks, sinner, for showing me this prize:none jifel You still need to include this: * theme of competition* format: vig or something different * length of competition * forum where its going to take place * please specify the different categories if any AND the prize allocation to each * what prizes are offered (bearing in mind that we won't give titles for every competition ;-) ) * Do not change the terms of the contests under way without the prior consent of a staff member Good luck ;-)
Siegfried Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 how about a transformers contest?thanks, sinner, for showing me this jifel My pleasure! You will need more details than that however! How about; Theme: Make a vehicle that can be changed into a robot. (Think transformers.) Format: Freeform, but you should be aiming at minifig sized. Length: One month building time Forum: LEGO Space & Mecha Categories: One at first, but if there are more than ten entries this could be changed to make voting easier. Eitherway, there will only be one winner. Prize: Supreme gloating power. You still need to include this:Good luck ;-) Well I did it for him! :-D
UniqueBuilder Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Well I did it for him! :-D Now you make me feel mean.. :'-(
Hinckley Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Sinner, would you be willing to co-host this contest with jifel?
Siegfried Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Sinner, would you be willing to co-host this contest with jifel? Yes. I was planning on making one anyway. It has been a while since we did a Mecha contest and we have a lot of new members who I think would be interested in this.
Hinckley Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Yes. I was planning on making one anyway. It has been a while since we did a Mecha contest and we have a lot of new members who I think would be interested in this. We already have an application for one and it will tentatively run this month, is it okay if you are scheduled further out?
