Posted February 8, 20169 yr A little less complex than the Yavin IV playset or Jedi Temple Playset I've made previously. But the result may actually a bit more along the lines of what TLG themselves might put together for a functional The Force Awakens Resistance Base playset. Likely going to add some pictures of the minifigs (the custom ones in particular) once my Snap Wexley and final piece for B-U4D droid arrive from bricklink. February 9, 20169 yr this is amazing! I love all of it. I am curious to see what it all looks like altogether with everything combined. Edited February 9, 20169 yr by PickleManDan
February 9, 20169 yr Author Great X-Wings. Thanks! :) It is a tricky size to make things semi-accurate but still swooshable. Looks great! Is this a WIP? Pretty much finished outside of trying to assemble a couple tertiary characters as minifigs out of parts. I just got parts to finish a B-U4D loader droid and plan to assemble a GONK droid as well. I plan to replace the holo-projection of the Starkiller base with a green trans-parent colored piece. Pretty happy with things as they are now and likely only to add structural things if I make a more detailed (less playset) version. this is amazing! I love all of it. I am curious to see what it all looks like altogether with everything combined. My lightbox for pictures might be a little to small for that. But I may try to get a shot with a few more hangar/tarmac pieces in it at the same time when I take minifig pictures.
February 9, 20169 yr Looks fantastic. Going to build this and also one in the style of the Starkiller base!
February 9, 20169 yr This actually looks like a possible set idea, it looks like a real set too. Have u thought about becoming a lego designer , Would be nice too see everything in one pic
February 10, 20169 yr Author This actually looks like a possible set idea, it looks like a real set too. Have u thought about becoming a lego designer , Would be nice too see everything in one pic Ask and you shall receive. I received my three 10x10 nets today and was able to replace the single smaller long net with them. Now the proportions of the hangar opening are more accurate and match the T-70 X-Wing again. My LDD design was longer across originally but the shorter piece had compressed it. Also completed the B-4UD loading droid and added my older Sandcrawler GONK droid to the picture (as seen in movie). Have newer GONK coming some time but it'll do for now. this is amazing! I love all of it. I am curious to see what it all looks like altogether with everything combined. Added a picture at the start with a picture of the surface sets together. Actually have replaced the less wide original hangar with one truer to my original design. I replaced the shorter netting piece I had originally with 3 suspended 10x10 nets I received today to do this. Looks fantastic. Going to build this and also one in the style of the Starkiller base! Would love to see/try a Starkiller base. Would be interesting to try to take advantage of the set re-use ideas they used for the movies an incorporate the many different shot angles in a simple set. awesome X-wings! Thanks! :)
February 10, 20169 yr You nailed the details including all the characters from this scene to a T! I love the hanger and the yellow service droid.
February 11, 20169 yr Author You nailed the details including all the characters from this scene to a T! I love the hanger and the yellow service droid. Thanks the B-U4D droid is one of the more interesting background characters listed in the visual dictionary. Do wish PZ-4CO had some solution in Lego right now. B-U4D by Jonathan Hudson, on Flickr
February 19, 20169 yr Begun to make a hanger large enough for TLG T-70 X-Wing. PM me jonnyboyca if you would like the LDD file. I would add a rendered image however my rendering tool isn't working ;(.
February 20, 20169 yr I love the Resistance command staff, they all look spot on to their film counterparts. As for the playset it looks great!
February 20, 20169 yr Could the x-wing be modyfied to fit a pilot? Probably difficult, but this seems like a must-win battle for a play set.
February 21, 20169 yr Author Begun to make a hanger large enough for TLG T-70 X-Wing. PM me jonnyboyca if you would like the LDD file. I would add a rendered image however my rendering tool isn't working ;(. Wow that will be big ;) the wingspan on the TLG T-70 X-wing is quite large. Not sure I'd have the room for something like that. Would be interested in seeing it at some point. I love the Resistance command staff, they all look spot on to their film counterparts. As for the playset it looks great! Thank you! Was disappointed myself that that all of the resistance minifigs released have be non-descript trooper and not identifiable side characters. So I tried my hand at making my own. Could the x-wing be modyfied to fit a pilot? Probably difficult, but this seems like a must-win battle for a play set. It would take a dedicated reworking. There is a lot going on in the area right under the cockpit. The angling for the shape starts at the back of it and squeezes the space to be too skinny for a minifig. I've taken a shot a reworking it and its not too bad. Will try to get some pictures.
February 21, 20169 yr Author Pictures added to show variant of the x-wing with room for the pilot to be swapped in instead of the windscreen.
February 22, 20169 yr As cool as this is, it feels pretty sparse to me. Even by TLG-style playset standards. Maybe less focus on the figs and more focus on the builds? It'd be pretty ace if you could connect the outside hangar and command center.
