I'm starting to think this game won't happen for a bit longer then I expected. Next year we will most likely get a Lego Batman movie game, then in 2019 I think we will get a game based off Marvel's phase 3. I guess 2018 could be possible. My best bet would be 2020 though. :hmpf_bad:

When did this thread turn into why Spidey's not in the Avengers game? I mean, Fin Fang Foom is not an Avenger, nor is he in the films. (Save that Easter egg in Iron Man.) There are a ton of characters in the game not in the films. It's just meant to be a fun video game, okay? Spidey's just not in it, maybe Lego has other plans. Is it a surprise? Indeed it is, but it's nothing worth arguing over guys. The rights don't seem to have a big impact here. Not to rant, but it's just how it all turned out. How it all turned out, sadly.

*Maybe TT Games has other plans. LEGO doesn't make these games remember?

Yeaaah, Marvel and DC had some crossover comics for kicks back when comic books weren't quite as popular... With both companies at their height right now, though? I don't see any reason they would feel compelled to work together. Competition drives capitalism and keeps things quality.

The only reason this would happen would be pure fanservice, and certainly neither company would agree to it if they thought it might help their competition remotely more than it helped them.

Probably LEGO Doctor Who because that's the one LEGO game they've always wanted to make and now they have an excuse to do it.

You're right. If IF LEGO DC vs Marvel is ever gonna happen, hopefully they will go with the comic from the late 90's.

They'll probably do their own storyline; I could imagine it being like a blend of the plots of The LEGO Movie and LEGO Dimensions.

ACTUALLY actually, Spider-Man's merchandising rights all belong to Disney. Sony owns FILM rights, and just film rights. He's not in it because, as of this point, he's not an Avenger in the MCU.

I know this thread has been dead for a second but after reading this it's bugging me..

Actually, actually, actually, as someone with ties in the industry, I have asked people closely affiliated with Marvel who told me the same thing. When I posted this both Marvel and Sony were still overlooking the finer details of the deal and coming to an agreement as to who can distribute MCU Spidey content. As it stands now it's 70%/30% Sony's way. We were lucky to get him in LEGO Avengers as DLC.

Marvel only owns all the rights on non film based merchandise meaning any toys, videogames, mugs etc etc. based on the Rami trilogy, TASM films, or Tom Holland's MCU adaption Sony's approval is needed and most of the profit goes to them.

But Lego video games aren't really canon, are they?

Well, I meant something like another crossover comic. But I would also like the crossover game to be remembered in future separate Marvel and DC games.

But it's Lego.

I don't follow you.

Let's say that this crossover Lego game happens before Lego Batman 4. In Lego Batman 4, there could be a little joke or reference to how they worked with Marvel characters before.

I don't want them to "magically forget" that this game even took place. I want this game to be canon in the Lego DC and Marvel game timelines.

I mean, how do we even know Batman 2 and Batman 3 are in the same universe? Especially Batman 1 and Batman 2/3.

Well, I suppose Lego Batman 2 can be considered a soft reboot of sorts, but 2 and 3 definitely are in the same universe.

And even if they aren't, i'd just like the Marvel and DC Lego games after the crossovers (in timeline) to acknowledge the fact that they met each other.

OK, Batman 2 / 3 are same universe, but Marvel games are definitely seperate.

Well there's only been 2 games. And LMSH is assumed to take place after the Avengers.

And besides, there's only one real Lego Marvel game similar to the Batman series, and that's the first one. The second one just reenacts the movies, no original story.
