7644: This is pretty similar to Space. *wub* It looks like a souped-up Recon Dropship. *wub*

7646: The alien ship is a bit ugly.... But the little mech in the bottom left corner, *wub*

Wow, those look fantastic... Now that is what I call a GIANT leap toward coolness from TLC, those haven't much in common with the first wave! I'd say they got rid of most that was bad in the first wave. Mesa waaant *sing*

Wow, 2008 is so much better for MM than 2007.

the new tank treads so I don't have to buy a technic set to get them (and they are 12.5 times better than the rubber treads)

And a glimpse into the Aliens culture. When you become a commander you get arms!

Now if they would just move past the orange and white color scheme I'd dance in the streets (again!)

Lego is really improving. It is like they have spies on eurobricks to see our complaints about their sets and use them to make them better. :-D The tread tank could use some cover where the sides of the treads are, but other then that...sheer brillance! :-)

I just realized one of the things I liked about how these look will almost certainly change for the final sets.

Where are all the stickers?

Is it sad that I realized these weren't all stickers when I was looking for them to see what animals each ships had as totems/mascots?

I think this group could definately work without stickers on every single white surface. But I bet on the final ones, the DSS is back in force.

Oh, and it looks like the big ship uses the stupid new wings from the Town airplanes. That's a bit disappointing.

OMG, I loooove these, they look increadibly fun! I neeeeed these, I love them!! *wub* *wub*

They look abit slapdash, but alot of sets are looking like that nowadays (holey and technic based with brick covering) but from what I see, tanks = cool, the huge ship is awesome as it has a dropping function and looks almost exactly like the large ice planet ship too, and the alien set I can miss.

The armoured drilling unit looking like the mega core magnetizer, then the large ship looking like the ice planet ship.. coincidence?.. >:-)

Yes! They listened! The new aliens are lookin' much better. The alien craft in the 1st picture looks very different in design to the others, which is pretty cool.

I think my favourite of these is the 7646. I don't dig tanks, and the gunship is way too heavily armed.

That being said, the little mech is lovely.

I am loving the Mars Mission ships. The only set of the line that I bought in the first wave was the glorious dropship. This new large ship is unbelievable. It is true that LEGO seems to be reverting back to the past on many of the designs in its latest offerings. Though while I am not a fan of the treaded things in MM, I am a sucker for vechicles that seperate into multiples. :-$

7644 looks great i might be getting space after a really long time!!

the only downfall is that they are using the HUGE wing part from the city plane!

this is such an ugly piece

but lego always finds ways to re-use new molds as many times as possible

so this was ecxpected

7645 still looks as bad or maby worse than the first wave

7646 a better alien ship

and a great mecha very nice set but still not THAT better than the first wave

so in colclusion the only WOW set is 7644 and im taking some points of for the huge wing part

I think you missed half my point. While I am not a fan of stickers, the first batch of MM, much like many exo-force sets, are designed with the stickers in mind. Thus, they use stickers instead of part detailing to create visual interest.

Thus, without stickers and without part detailing, there is little visual interest at all.

These sets seem to have visual interest sans stickers. Hopefully, as we move past preliminary stage, they continue to have the parts detailing and design that means we don't have to use stickers.
