Pencoin Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 whoa those commanders are sick! might have to rethink what im buying this years need to get me one of those BIG time but which to pick? :'-) Quote
Batbrick Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Hmm, I didn't realise the commander was bigger than the normal aliens. The mini robot in the alien set is strangely cute (also, is that a mini alien drone?), and I do rather like the two human sets. The mech is nice too, but since the majority of the set is the alien ship, I'll have to pass on it. The other two, I want but probably can't afford. I didn't realise he was that big either, I simply must get one. I've decided on the tank, the spaceship is too big and the alien craft is quite frankly, dodgy. The tank in my opinion is awesome, I love those treads and the scooper design, and even the alien craft is pretty good. I just wonder about the price... Stalking iamded! *skull* Quote
xenologer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Neat, these new pics definetly changed my opinion of the new sets... The claw tank remix is defintly one I must have. Nice treads, neat gear mechanism to make the saws turn. Good windshield. The little rover that comes with it is really cute looking too. And this has to be the only one of the alien ships to look good; just put a normal cockpit on it and it'd be passable in general Space. The alien fighter with human robot I'm now feeling is less must-have; fighter just looks bad, and to get the cute robo I'll probably just make my own using the windshield bubble from last years otherwise useless Trike set. Big human ship.... not sure about, for some reason the shape is reminding me of those SW dropships. And I'm not seeing myself needing all its parts just yet... Really tho... why didn't they just give the Bioni-umh-Alien commanders EF drone arms in green? seems they made his arms and legs the same brick cause they didnt feel willing to make a new mould.. so wouldnt reusing the EF work just as well? iamded Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I didn't see this here (well, on the front page... ) so I thought I'd share it. Sorry if it's old news. And I mean the set on the right. I've heard about it, just not seen a pic of it until now. ~Peace Quote

I've heard about it, just not seen a pic of it until now. Silly looking little flyer. If its an impluse set like the on to the left, then it'll probably also cost the same 3.5$USD right? But Isn't the Astro Fighter for 5$USD a superiour set(parts at least) that is basically the same concept? I'm not seeing why I'd ever buy this till it gets on clearance... There was also a little alien flyer impulse. So far only the Robot/Crate is what i've seen in store... where are the other two? Quote

Interesting signature too.... EDIT: 7645 has a new shooter piece... EDIT2: ...and so does 7646. Shooters aside, they are very nice sets. I want them all! Quote

Shooters aside, they are very nice sets. I want them all! Hmm, it appears to be a sort of flick fire missile with a blunt head. It's all one long bar(minifig hand inner-grip size) with a nub at the end. And the shooter seems to be a sort of 'pull back and let go'. Wouldn't that break quite easily? I hope some Star Wars sets have this; I'm interested. It looks cool, and looks like it could be used in a SW MOC when you need missiles in a pinch... Quote

Asuka Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I was surprised that 7645 can be motorized by Power Functions with IR, there are steps to attach the motor like the Technic one. Hey, that´s pretty clever.... thanks for the information! Quote
SuvieD Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 The latest mars mission sets are very cool. I like the designs, play factor and the new alien leader is also nice. I am not sure what level of fan involvement there was but these are certainly not just desinged for eight year olds. Quote

Beautiful design, motor functions, TREADS, the alien commander ( ) and some very nice things. If I can't get that (which I must!) I'll get the cheap one, I have to get that alien commander. Thanks whung. Batbrick Away! Quote
KDog Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I'm digging that slick Alien Infiltrator. And the robo-suit looks good, too. If I get any of the new Mars Mission sets, this will be the one. Quote
Brickmaster Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Whoah whoah whoooaah!! Instructions are out? Now this is great, these.. look great! Thank you very much, I will study these, and will just make me want them even more. Thank you for the news Quote
Sir Dano Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) Amazing, they gave the alien commander 2 legs. Edited May 6, 2008 by sir dano Quote
Svelte Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 The 7645 Crystal Reaper is amazing - great to look at, not too technicy. The inclusion of power function instructions is a huge plus and makes the set a 'must-buy' rather than a 'would like' - I guess we'll be seeing more of this kind of integration in the future. The other ones I can take or leave, though. The 766 Hypersonic thing is a bit of a hot mess. The robot in 7646 looks great but I can live without the alien craft. I think it's hilarious that the alien commander has to attach into his seat via a clip through the spine - jelly road safety rules ON! Quote
whung Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Probably is the latest 2008 hidden set of Mars Mission series 7649 MT-201 Ultra-Drill Walker Limited Edition Quote

I´m pretty perplexed by that fantastic beauty.... it´s just impressive, charming and plain beautiful. It looks like something straight from the cover of an old S.F. magazine.... a creative and very inspiring work of some great designer from TLC, well done! "Look darling.... finally Space´s back and it´s looking groovy!" Quote
