Cries of "bear a hand, now," watch your step, you lubber" along with some truly profane language filled the salty air as Captain Anthony Genaro made his way back to his captain's barge. He was returning from a surprisingly enjoyable appointment with the port admiral who had congratulated him on bringing the Little Hermes in without conflict. The naval chronicles were filled with a surprising number of ships lost or captured, and some had begun to worry. "Ha, but no I" the admiral had said. "Oh, I told them, you'll get your goods yet, just you wait and Genaro will be in before the new moon." And if the kind words were not enough, the freight money that naval captains were entitled to certainly made the trip enjoyable.

I'm not too pleased with the way the fort in the background came out. Originally, I was hoping the tiles would look like stone, but I'm afraid it came out looking like concrete (perhaps too uniform). Other than that, I can't complain too much.

As always, comments and criticism is welcome.

Nice port scene.

I don’t mind the fort wall, the slope at the bottom makes it look quite realistic. As for uniformity, I wonder if you could have somehow made the spacing a little more irregular. Not being able to see the back I’m not sure how that would work. Another suggestion might be to mix up the colours a bit, maybe some old dark grey in with the dark bley? Just some thoughts!

The crane is a nice addition and I like your soldiers (especially the bayonets!).

That's a good build !

The fort could have a less concrete aspect by, perhaps, get rid of some tiles in some areas and replace the tiles by plates or a jumper plate holding a tile, it could bring some variety to the wall design and give it a more stony aspect. This was my two cents.

Overall it's a nice scene and it's very full of life ! I like this busy port aspect !

Good job !

Very nice dock scene, the crane looks great as does the water. I agree that the fort ended up a bit uniform looking, but the angle you achieved is really good!

I concur with the gentlemen above. Great crane, water and angled fort wall. Miking up the greys, especially the light grey on the bottom would look smoother. I like the scene. Edit:

Great thoughts. I didn't want to mix up light and dark grey, but perhaps using old and new grey would work. I'll have to take a look in my parts bin and see what I have.

Perhaps I could use some jumper plates to help offset the tiles and to add some texture. I'll have to think about that next time.

Nice build! The fort looks pretty good to me. Probably the main improvement would be to make the walls thicker especially at the cannon holes.

I agree. The wall is only supposed to be seen from the front, so depth shouldn't be too much of an issue, but you can see how skinny it is in some pics.

Cool build! The Dick looks pretty cool, only tip would be to use some tiles to top it of. The fort is great too

Thank you. I'm afraid I don't know what the Dick is (unless you mean Dike?).

The angle took a couple tries to make it sturdy enough, so I'm glad you like it.

Very kind words, I appreciate the feedback.

A nice hub of activity! Although i like studs, top floor feels a bit empty due to not being paved i guess? And sloped fort looks nice despite your considerations! Little Hermes at your disposal at any time too!

Nice dockside scene, captain. Very lively. I agree that a bit of mottling of the fortress walls and a bit more thickness would improve it, but overall, it is really good. I love the crane!
