jdm44 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I wanted to see what everyone's favorite sets are. Feel free to list top 3, 5, 10 or even top 25 if you have a lot of sets. You can also do different categories like UCS, regular, different price ranges or whatever categories you can think of. I just like like top x lists in general. I'm new to collecting so I just have a top 3 list. 75105: Millennium Falcon 75020: Jabba's Sail Barge 75101: First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter Favorite set <$30 75080: AAT Quote
namioik Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Top 3 Star Wars sets I have built (I own a few I haven't touched yet). 1. Slave 1 (I've bought the older versions before but I only built the Jango version when I was still in elementary school). My top because of scale to minifigure and the level of detail. Plus Boba is a badass 2. Ewok village. I had to get this set the moment it was announced. I love Star Wars play sets because given that it's the theme, way too many ships for my preference. The fact that it's a solid one builder (unlike assault on Hoth) makes it more display worthy. I cannot wait for rouge one AT-ST to join the scene. 3. I wanna say the millennium falcon. Reason why I'm apprehensive is because I have a weak spot for bigger and stronger builds (UCS). Initially, it looked bland but after building the set, I learned to appreciate it a lot more. Scorpus Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Slave I Sandcrawler - a lot of people don't like the brown bucket but I really enjoyed the build and the final model R2-D2 I haven't got a whole lot of older stuff so this would be the top 3 for me Edited February 16, 2016 by Scorpus Quote
ryan1584 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 UCS: 1. Slave I 2. Red 5 X-wing 3. Imperial Shuttle Non-UCS 1. 7662 MTT 2. 75055 Star Destroyer 3. 75021 Republic Gunship Not that you asked, but the two sets I just don't care for after purchasing would be 75042 Droid Gunship and 10188 Death Star. Quote
MartinCliffe Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) 1. Ewok Village - awesome build, I got an extra set without minifigures to expand it further. My Endor diorama is a labour of love. 2. Imperial Star Destroyer (75055) - my first big LSW set, that got me hooked and made 2015 a MASSIVELY expensive year. I like that there's LOADS of space for figures. Number 3 is a tough choice. I'm torn between the newer AT-AP and the new Falcon. Both have required minimal modification. I'm going to say the AT-AP because it's so much more solid (the Falcon looks awesome, and I love the space for extra Resistance Troopers etc, but it's hard to pick up without something coming loose). AT-AP *needs* the addition of the Kashyyyk Troopers battle pack though. Interestingly, the older AT-AP was one of my only Dark Ages LSW sets (present from my wife some years ago). EDIT: Argh, and I forgot about the 75021 Gunship. Another great set that needs extra figures to make it complete. Edited February 16, 2016 by MartinCliffe Quote
miles teg Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My favourite sets that I have built that I own would be...... Ooh hard choices, bear in mind I don't own very many and I try only to buy OT sets 1: 7965 millennium falcon. Because I love this ship, and I've spent a lot of time modding it! 2 : 8092 Slave 1. Again one of my favourite ship designs, and the size of this model still impresses me 3 : 9493 x wing. My first Lego star wars ship, and the one that bought me out of my dark age ! Forever a classic. Also, honorable mention must go to 75003 a wing in the sub £30 category. I love this little bugger. A few little mods and it's a beauty Quote
firefox Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 1. 75018 Jek-14's Stealth E-Wing It's just cool, Good figures, it has a cargo space and it's black! 2. 75051 Jek-14's Jedi Scout Fighter Great new design, big cargo space, 2 seater. 3. 75084 Wookie Gunship Not perfect, but a great different design 4. 75003 A wing, Best A wing so far, great little set, extra minifigs aren't great. Looks better then the new stuff 5. 75004 Z-95 headhunter One of the best integrated springloaded weapons. Also easy to customise. 6. 75043 AT-AP best walker so far, good interior space, looks even better with the 3rd leg retracted or removed. 7. 75082 Advanced TIE prototype Not a fan of TIE fighters, but this one is really well made 8. 66512 Gost + Phantom Not perfect and a bit too small, but it's has better features then the falcon. 9. 75105 Milleium Falcon Good, excellent minifigs but cocpit is too small and still non retractable landing gear 10. 7497 Republic strike class fighter Something different with a neat wing gimmick and a great female jedi Quote
PaulPrime Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 7965 Millennium Falcon. It is in a permanent WIP state as I never stopped modding it. There is always something more than can be improved. Quote
Brickinho Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I started buying Lego last year, so my collection isn't that big, but I love 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirum. It was the set that ended my dark age of. I loved that ship a a kid and I had a lot of fun building it. Quote

BigEl Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Here are my top 5: 1. UCS Slave 1 - Easily the best one. Everything about it is just spectacular, could look at it every day and still be impressed 2. TFA Millenium Falcon - Very good base build and huge modding potential. Iconic as hell and just great to finally have it after wanting it forever as a kid 3. AT-AT - Close to the Falcon in terms of iconic status and the main body has an oustanding build. Would be better if the head wouldnt be as bad and inaccurate as it is out of the box 4. TFA Tie Fighter - A real no brainer. Nearly perfect lego interpretation of an iconic yet somewhat simple design 5. AT-AP - A lot better than expected. Looks impressive from the front and has good modding potential Quote
YellowCorvette Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My favourite Star Wars set by now will be 75102. Aside for the ugly wings and rubber band placement, I think that this is a good set to pick and with some modification, this set can be ever better. Why I only list one set at here? That's because I only have two Star Wars(The other one is the Snowspeeder Microfighter) set by now. Quote
RetroInferno Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Wow, Slave 1 is definitly in people's heart In the 200$ plus range I would also say the Slave 1 is my favorite like a lot of people mentionned already. Both the TFA Falcon and the 2014 Star Destroyer are next in the 100-200$ price range, although I feel the falcon is a bit better mini-figs and interior wise. 50$-100$:The Rebels AT-DP is a very, very nice vehicle and has a really nice OT Imperial style to it. I highly recommend picking it up. 50$ and below: Imperial Troop Transport: Even though the Rebels stormies are not loved by everyone ( I used to hate the thing ), the real deal is quite nice to get ( 4 of the same figure in a battle-pack is quite awesome ) and you can quickly build an army or patrols this way. Well apart from the dropping wings and the lackluster backside there is really nothing about the set to criticize in my books. That the retail price is really good compared to other SW Sets and the building experience is fun and challenging are just the icing on the cake Quote
La Chupacabra Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I have bought only two Lego Star Wars sets: UCS 10212 - this is my favorite set, in my opinion best set ever. 75060 Quote
samlr Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 1 - 10179 UCS Millenium Falcon 2 - 10212 UCS Imperial shuttle 3 - 75059 UCS Sandcrawler 4 - 75060 UCS Slave I 5 - 10175 UCS TIE Advanced (first UCS I bought ...) And none UCS : 6 - 75021 Republic Gunship 7 - 8097 Slave 1 8 - 75053/75048 Ghost and Phantom 9 - 9495 Y-Wing (that is until I get the UCS one) 10 - 7879 Echo base Quote
jdm44 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks for all the responses. This gives me some good ideas for sets I need to get in the future. I just started collecting and I've been buying a lot of sets that are currently available. However, I feel like a lot of them are mediocre and I need to start being more selective. Quality > quantity. The AT-AP was off my radar until recently but now I'm definitely going to get it. The Sandcrawler and the UCS Slave I are my top priority and I plan to get them in the next couple of months. At some point down the road I'd like to get a Republic Gunship, Imperial Star Destroyer and the 7662 MTT. Quote
bootz Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 1) 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Cruiser - haven't seen this one mentioned yet, but it was one of my few Dark Ages sets and I've always loved it. We've never had another Home One set, the figs are fantastic, and the green A-wing is among my favorites in my fleet. 2) 9516 Jabba's Palace + 75005 Rancor Pit + 9496 Desert Skiff - these have to be bunched together, and though I don't have the sail barge, these three still look awesome together. The fig selection is excellent, with many you wouldn't get otherwise. 3) 66512 Ghost and Phantom - I bought them seperate, but that set number is an easy pairing of the two. Too small, but The gjost has quickly become one of my favorite ships in the franchise as has its crew, and I often find myself gazing up to it on the shelf above my TV as I watch Rebels. Quote
JackJonespaw Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I have the 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina from 2004. That was just around when I watched Star Wars for the first time, so to get Luke, Han, and Ben in one set was incredible. Nowadays, of course, I realize the rarity of Greedo. I know a lot of people have the opinion that that set sucks, but I really like it for some reason. Probably just nostalgia. Quote

We got alot of play value out of it and Greedo was constantly getting killed. Quote
Kalais Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I have 2 favourite sets, very, very, very small sets. 7200 for great minifigs and parts for MOCs. Also I got big sentiment for it. It was my 1st Star Wars set, a gift from friend. I was at Dark Age back then, but loved Star Wars. Still have it, in perfect condition. and 2-nd favourite set is: 75078 because it is infinite source of stormies :) And usefull parts from the ship too. Just hate those stud blasters. If the set come with regular minifig blaster it would be perfect. But it is still awesome. Quote
Forresto Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My favorite of all time Star Wars sets: 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina: Where the new one is definitely the better of the two back in the day this set was one of the coolest because of the minifigures and strange parts. Greedo especially. 8014 Clone Battle pack: The best battle pack (Closely followed by the upcoming Rebel alliance Battlepack) of all time because it came at a time where I was hyped for the new Clone Wars series and Clone design. It is the ideal format for battle pack army building coming with three regular troopers and a special as well as a plethora of kama and additional accessories. 8018 AAT: Hands down the best model Lego has ever made of the AAT, which is a really cool tank design on it's own, in my favorite color pattern. 7662 MTT: Same as the AAT this is the best and biggest version of this vehicle and it looks fantastic. The set's weight and durability also makes this sucker feel like a legit tanks. I know this technically doesn't count since I don't own it but when I was little I desperately wanted to buy the original old school AT AT set. I remember staring at the box at target when I was younger and getting weird looks from workers every now and then. Quote
jhaelego Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 UCS: 1. 10030 Star Destroyer: This is probably my favorite Lego set of all time. 2. 75060 Slave 1: Glad to see it's a general consensus that this is a great set. This was my first UCS and an awesome way to get into building these huge sets. 3. 10240 Red 5 X Wing: Very fun build and a beautiful model. Non UCS: 1. 7259 Ep 3 ARC-170: This is the only set whose build I loved so much that I took it apart and rebuilt it multiple times. 2. 7662 MTT: I think this set is legendary. It is huge and has the best combination of play features that I've ever seen in a lego set of its size. 3. 75021 Republic Gunship: The Gunship is my favorite ship in the star wars universe. This Lego set captures it almost perfectly. Quote
bootz Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I put the Slave 1 at the top of my birthday list because of the comments in this thread. I'd been on the fence for a while, but I don't want to miss out on what is clearly destined to be a classic like the UCS Falcon. Quote

Good thinking :) I am very seriously considering getting a spare of this one to keep in the box (which I never do, my only boxed SW set is a $100 clearance UCS B-Wing), maybe a few years down the line it could fund 2 or 3 new UCS sets. Even the box itself is gorgeous! Edited February 16, 2016 by ryan1584 Quote
