Distorted Vision Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) I am a new AFOL and yesterday opened a Lego.com Shop VIP account. I placed a number of orders but they are being cancelled. I appreciate that the Sandcrawler and Ewok Village have an order limit of 1. It was something I genuinely didn't notice at the time. But all my other orders where I just ordered 1 item were also cancelled. Anything I seem to order now is being cancelled but not automatically eg the Tower Bridge set. chump Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Call LEGO S@H and find out. They should be able to provide a better response than we can here. That's what they're there for. Quote
Distorted Vision Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 I will but they are now closed. I can't believe they close at 5pm. Most companies Customer Services open well into the evening these days. Call LEGO S@H and find out. They should be able to provide a better response than we can here. That's what they're there for. Andrzej777 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 It seems you have got to be one of the chosen few these days in order to get something from the lego shop :) lol Quote
mediumsnowman Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 You probably just got flagged for ordering several large D2C's in quick succession. When customer service comes back online just call them, explain your situation, and they'll be more than happy to sort it out for you. Quote
Distorted Vision Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) I didn't even know there is a Lego store in my home city. I called them just before they closed this evening and they have the Tower Bridge set in stock. I was just wondering if I can have VIP points added to my account if buy in store if I take the email confirmation. I haven't received my VIP card in the post yet as I only signed up two days ago. I am also wondering if an item has a 1 item order limit on the Lego.com Shop applies to Lego stores as well. By which I mean if I buy one instore and use my VIP card can I still buy one online as well? Edited February 17, 2016 by Distorted Vision Quote

You can order as many as you like from different retailers but Lego limit the buying up of stock of large sets for obvious reasons. If you go into store then just give them the email address your VIP account is registered to and they'll add the points to that. I lost my first card a few years go and they even managed to switch the points from the old card to the new one based on the email addresses. Quote
mediumsnowman Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I never use my physical card. Lost it ages ago. They always look it up by email address. Quote
Distorted Vision Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Great I'll let you know how I get on. Reason I preferred buying online is because of Quidco cashback but also for the outer shipping box. I generally want to buy 2 of all the sets I want. One to build and have on display and the other to have unopened in the box in storage. The outer shipping box helps with storage in the loft. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 This does not bode well for those who buy multiple modulars or other large sets not for the purpose of reselling, but to simply create a larger version of the original model. Not everyone is fortunate enough to live close to a Lego store. So S&H would be the only way they could earn VIP points. I get that Lego wants to prevent resellers from buying up everything and cornering the market on a current release, but how do you distinguish between them and someone who simply wants all of the sets they are buying for personal use? Also, what if you have more than one kid who wants the same thing? I would rather just buy everything under one VIP number for the sake of having reward points more readily available. Even if you got a VIP number for each member of your family, wouldn't the VIP number need to match the credit or debit card? Quote
MrBrickALot Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I ordered the Ferris Wheel and UCS Slave I at the online LEGO shop yesterday and had no problems so far. Got a shipping confirmation today. A quick call to customer service should sort you out. Quote
geezerman402 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Making a few high price, quick succession orders does seem kind of suspect though. I assume you were doing it to get multiples of the promo? Quote
Distorted Vision Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) Something weird happened. I never got round to calling Lego Customer Services today. I went to the Lego store today and I saw when I arrived on my phone that the order status of the Tower Bridge and the Slave 1 from the Lego.com Shop had changed from cancelled to 'In Warehouse'. I was able to buy 2 of each of Tower Bridge and Sandcrawler at the Lego Store today as well. I was able to redeed my VIP points from the Ewok set I bought online and redeem from the first instore purchase. So it seems that my account with Lego.com Shop is now fine and don't even feel the need to call them. I'll just have to keep the 3rd Tower Bridge set as an investment but may give it someone as a gift. The only orders cancelled on my account now are for 2nd orders of items where there was a 1 order limit. So these are cancelled rightly so. I think I'll actually prefer to buy from the Lego stores going forwards as its a bit of pain buying online. I am luck that I have 3 stores on my doorstep, one less than 10 miles from my home and another two within 20 miles. Making a few high price, quick succession orders does seem kind of suspect though. Distorted Vision Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 It was more of a case of the actions of a keen and excited new AFOL. I'm not looking at becoming a reseller but interested in investing to help fund new sets to build. Making a few high price, quick succession orders does seem kind of suspect though. Japanbuilder Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Hah! You are lucky to even have S@H ;.; I would sell a kidney for that option here! Quote

Distorted Vision Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 I live in a town in Cheshire in the north west of England. The Lego store in Liverpool is 10 miles away, the Manchester store is 25 miles away and the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Manchester is 17.5 miles away. Yeah sure why not. Just send me your address and I'll put the spare Tower Bridge in the post. Holy cow! Where the frick is this magic land where there are three LEGO stores that close? Crazy Town? Distorted Vision Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 My local Smyths Toys has just received a delivery of The Tumbler. Smyths have the last stock in the UK. I've bought two and should collect later. Quote

Can someone please shed some light and advise? Many thanks! The best way to have got your answer was to have called shop.lego.com CS. Im sure they would have explained. Sorry, I have to say you sound like a reseller. You have set up a few threads about "investment" and you do indeed come across as a reseller who has just caught the wave of a new money making scheme. Also you added that you want to build these sets as someone mentioned reselling. By the amount of sets you have bought or are buying it does not seem you need to invest to buy more sets to build. Quite contradictory IMO. I some how doubt you want to build these sets. Hopefully you will genuinely be bitten by the bug of making these sets IMO. Edited February 25, 2016 by Strobus Quote

I couldn't imagine your orders being canceled unless they suspected some sort of foul play or unrealistic purchase patterns that resemble a reseller. Distorted Vision Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 I assure you I am both a fan and builder of Lego not just an investor. Didn't buy the Hellicrafts in the end. One was to build myself and one to keep as investment. But I've gone off the set so decided not to buy them. FYI All my cancelled orders were fulfilled apart from those where there was a 1 order limit, by the Lego.com shop without me even calling them. Quote

Its like me getting into mountain biking then buying up all the expensive bikes I can within weeks of me finding a new hobby. Its a bit excessive to go all in with all these highly expensive sets in a short space of time. Not that its wrong but all the questions you as and your buying patterns scream out reseller and the reason you are on this site is to see whats desirable for resale. The questions you have asked on may threads are quite contradictory too. Any way hope you have a long a good relationship with your new found building. Yeah, that's not what resellers do. If you buy everything in sight, you're doing it wrong. Its what inexperienced resellers do from what I've seen. Scatter gun approach. Quote
