Distorted Vision Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) You will also see I was asking about re-release of UCS Star Wars sets which I wanted to build and display. But anyway I don't feel I need to justify myself to you. Its like me getting into mountain biking then buying up all the expensive bikes I can within weeks of me finding a new hobby. Its a bit excessive to go all in with all these highly expensive sets in a short space of time. Not that its wrong but all the questions you as and your buying patterns scream out reseller and the reason you are on this site is to see whats desirable for resale. The questions you have asked on may threads are quite contradictory too. Any way hope you have a long a good relationship with your new found building. geezerman402 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Anyone investing is a reseller. But that really shouldn't have a negative connotation unless they are scalping. Quote
Robianco Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Buying two of a set that has been on the shelf for a while isn't that big of a deal. It's entirely up to you if you build the sets and actually like Lego although if your interest in Lego dropped to just being a financial one then you probably wouldn't find much help on the forum pages with regards to orders made simply for resale. Buying up ALL of a limited item thus stopping normal buyers picking it up then hiking prices to create your own market value would be unfair and seriously frowned upon. If you've got a few thousand pounds spare, it's up to you how many of those sets you buy (as long as a retailer will sell you it). Not all sets shoot up in value though and I'm not entirely sure the Helicarrier will grow all that much. Tower Bridge has been around for years and is still available so how long that will take to go up in value is anyone's guess but if you've got the patience to wait and let them increase in value then fine. I'd add that your buying habits straight out of the trap must have certainly sparked some interest in their ordering system to cause an issue. By the way... one of those Lego stores you mentioned is my local Lego store so no funny business in buying up stock... Edited February 26, 2016 by Robianco Quote
Captain Pirate Man Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) I don't think it's fair linking investors with resellers. I am very interested in the potential value of sets. I just recently purchased TB and GB firehouse. I hope they both sky rocket in value, I really do. But having said that, I only bought 1 of each set, and already built the TB and will build the firehouse when it arrives. So I don't have any interest in reselling. But one day, my son will inherit my Lego collection, and I hope it's worth double or triple what I played for it, when that day comes. Its like getting a Michael Jordan rookie card, you will probably NEVER sell it, but it's nice to know it's worth a pretty penny. Also let me add, these two purchases were the first ones I have done through S@H, and I didn't have a single problem. The fact the OP bought so many of these types of sets at once, is probably why they got flagged. Edited February 26, 2016 by Captain Pirate Man Quote

The problem is when resellers buy the ENTIRE stock that's available so when regular customers come along who actually want the set/figure for their collection can't get it. So if you see what I mean, it's not the purchasing of sets that's the problem, it's the quantity of purchasing sets that's the problem. Edited February 26, 2016 by Tariq j Quote

So if you see what I mean, it's not the purchasing of sets that's the problem, it's the quantity of purchasing sets that's the problem. It is very rare that resellers purchase the entire stock of a set. Most sets are available at retail for regular consumers for a reasonable amount of time. That way, you can buy more of what you enjoy for the same money. Quote
