10178 UCS AT-AT, via Mrs Lobot, for Christmas about 5 years ago

I spent several happy hours building it on the kitchen table that day, as my brother & dad watched in quiet bemusement! I was amazed to see it lumbering across the floor, and have been addicted ever since.

Luke's Landspeeder

[snip]

Same here. :classic:

I still remember when I found out the set included a ''trans blue bar'' and I was wondering what it was.

The day after my family went to watch Attack of the Clones, we went to the local Toys 'R Us. I found, and feel in love with:

I didn't really know the Star Wars universe very well then, so I gave Yoda's lightsaber to Bib Fortuna, and has him and Dooku travel through the door on the speeder, to fight against my Harry Potter troll.

Aaah first Star Wars set .... What a memory .... Although I've been building LEGO since I can remember myself , and I began watching star wars really young as well , my first SW set was that 2003 X-Wing (http://www.brickwars-sets.com/brickwars-sets_pictures/more_views/LEGO_6212_PIC_2.jpg). 437 pieces , 6 figs , only 40 euros ( if the same set was released this winter it would probably cost 70 ... ) it was a shock for me to even see the set , as I didn't even know LEGO an SW made sets together ( yeah , the place where I was buying LEGO wasn't the best .... ) . I had actually made some LSW of my own , using Draco Malfoy's hair ,orange legs etc for a pilot Luke and some plane and car sets to build a Snowspeeder .... It was definitely the happiest moment in my life ....

I got 7110 Luke's Landspeeder and 7128 Speeder Bikes for Christmas, both as 'jokes' from two different people. I didn't even know Lego Star Wars existed. I built them, put them back in the box and left them in a cupboard. About 8 years later my daughter found them and that's when my dark-age ended :sweet:.

first lego SW set was 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, not so old compared to most AFOL around here, the only reason i bought it was to make up for the 3 for 2 shopping deal, but that's where the addiction began

I bought the 6206 Tie interceptor as my first to build and have fun and let my 4 year old smash it. I got it on clearance in 2007 but I cant remember how much. Then a year later I bought the 7676 Republic gunship and this really took me out of the dark ages.

I don't usually collect the Star Wars sets and think I only have a few, but I believe this was the first Lego SW set I got: 10175 Vader's Tie Advanced

10175-1.jpg

I got it when Lego S@H had it on sale. When it came, it was missing like four black 2x12 plates or whatever (I just know it was 2x## and it was long) so I had to get Lego to send me the missing pieces). This set did not come with a Darth Vader minifigure so I ended up going on eBay (this is before I got back into Lego) to buy the minifigure so it could sit in the cockpit of this beauty.

It was also either this set (the TIE Advanced) or getting Brickbeard's Bounty on clearance on Walmart that got me interested in Lego again.

My first Star Wars set was the set with Qui-Gonn Jinn, Darth Maul, Maul's speeder bike and a small structure...some sort of vapour tower I believe. I think it's called "Jedi Duel" or something. I really liked that set, though I remember being disappointed that "good guy" in the set was Qui-Gonn, and not Obi Wan

Technically it wasn't mine at first, my younger brother received his first Lego, the original 7140 X-Wing Fighter in 1999. When he quit collecting Lego in 2004, due to our youngest brother destroying all his sets, it became mine. Since then it was built into an old, messy spaceship I built years ago. While not a SW collector, I have always loved the X-Wing. I have been thinking about resurrecting it as 95% of the pieces are there default_classic.gif

Well again, technically I didn't buy the SET (7191) because of the price. I ordered the pieces from bricklink and was lucky with some pieces that actually allready had the stickers witch I needed.

I altered the colouration as I found the original Lego 7191 a bit too dark. Im not that big a Starwars fan, but the X-Wing is such an icon that I just had to own..default_wubnew.gif

I remember getting a bunch of Star Wars sets on my 10th birthday in 1999, including:

7171-1.jpg

7161-1.jpg

7121-1.jpg

I was so thrilled back then, because I grew up loving both Lego and Star Wars, and since I lived in a small town with little access to big shopping centers, I had no idea it existed at all until my parents and my cousins spoiled me with all those sets.

It was in 1999 :

Same with me. I was about 10 years old in 98 and remember having a dream where I had SW lego, so I made a white x wing and my own version of Luke but couldn't find a helmet for it.

I still remember seeing something about Lego getting the SW license and my mother taking my to Pip Squeak and Wilfred to pre order this set. To this day, I do not have a more played with, weathered, destroyed in action and rebuilt set. Truly nostalgia.

One of my best memories however is holding the fighter by the nose in the basement and it broke, causing the body to explode on the floor. I put that sucker all back together on memory. Probably my favorite toy ever

Jedi Duel

Jedi Defence

Speeder Bikes

Naboo Swamp

Then after a bit of a break the AT-ST, Jedi Starfighter (Obi Wan) Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid (Anakin)

Although it's less than a year ago, i had to seriously think over it. I remind that it was 7929, the Battle of Naboo. Many figs (loads of B1s) and also something exclusive (clumsy Jar Jar). The set is quite iconic to EP I (i thus consider it to be something 'original') and i always had some knack for mighty arsenal of the ill fated Trade Federation. Last, it also was on sale. :sweet:

I would have favoured to get 6212, X-Wing, which features to be one most prominent original starsip and also offers quite some key characters. If it weren't this utterly overpriced in GER (70 EUR - mind that was about 100 USD!!!) it would surely have been my starter set. Too bad the new X-Wing won't have the same value in content. Despite feeling urged to have one, i will definitely suppress that until a serious sale (20+%). :sadnew:

For people who wish to start out their LEGO SW collection these days, i highly recommend to get 7965 (Millennium Falcon) and upcoming 9490 (Droid Escape). With these sets solely, one gets the OT Heroes (of Yavin) and also some iconic villains. Great for (dis)play and standalone as they are. :classic:

Alternatively, 8038 (Battle of Endor) remains my top contender for best LEGO SW set ever.

Will future Cloud City, Theed Palace or Jabba's Palace be able to stand up to this?

I remember getting the X-Wing from 1999 when I was five. I was thrilled! After that, my collection grew, with the landspeeder and the A-Wing. I still love the original X-Wing and think it is the best for playability.
