Blakbird Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 Hello Blakbird, please tell us if you and when you would be updating this part of your spectacular webpage: http://www.technicop...ndamentals.html Not any time soon. I got distracted by too many of those side projects which prevented me from working on and completing the main body of the site. The fundamentals page is already in pretty good shape so I probably won't get back to it until the rest of the site is done. Quote
Josephiah Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Another excellent update. I'd never noticed the turquoise cabin interior of the tow truck before - eew! Quote
CP5670 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) Great work. I've just been catching up to your last few updates on this. For 8432, the CD works in a Win98 VM under VirtualBox. It has some videos of the main model, instructions for several alternate models and a top-down racing game that you can complete in 10 minutes. You probably won't load it up more than once, but it's worth a look. Edited July 14, 2015 by CP5670 Quote
dave4mame Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi everyone; while reading this topic i've found a reference about addendum sheet for set #855 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12235#entry230866 according to conchas, who posted it, he managed to find the addendum for 853/956 set, too. does anyone have a scan of it? i'd love to add it to my original instructions :) Quote
roppie11 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Hey blackbird, I just checked out technicopedia and it contains lots of information. But There's still stuff to do, it is not completed yet. The last update was on 12 july 2015. I understand that it is a lot of work to make a proper site, so i thought, can't we help you a bit with making the site? There is not a single essay about a 42 _ _ _ set I would love to write a essay about 42043 for your technicopedia or about something else. You would have to check if you like it and if it is good enough to appear on the technicopedia but i think it will save you a lot of work. What do you think about it? Quote
Kman860 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) If your open to it Blakbird, add me to the list Edited April 4, 2016 by Kman860 Quote
Nick Barrett Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 He's got as far as 1997 and suddenly there's a ton of (mostly not very good) models to write about for a few years.... good luck Blakbird. Technicopedia is a brilliant resource. Just try to look forward to doing 8455! Quote
Blakbird Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Hey blackbird, I just checked out technicopedia and it contains lots of information. But There's still stuff to do, it is not completed yet. The last update was on 12 july 2015. I understand that it is a lot of work to make a proper site, so i thought, can't we help you a bit with making the site? ..... What do you think about it? This has occasionally come up before. It is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it would really work. It is important to me that the whole site be consistent in appearance and tone, and I don't think that would be possible with other authors unless I did a lot of editing. At that point, I may as well just do the work myself. However, there are a lot of things other people have done to contribute other than writing. The most significant of these is the contribution of LDraw files. I had a topic here last year in which I was trying to collect an LDraw file for every set. With the help of EB, I was able to do that and enabled me to make my first update in several years and to add the annual summaries all the way up to 2014. At this point, the only thing stopping me from going further is time. I've spent the time since the last update working on the Akiyuki project. Quote
Blakbird Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Coming soon: 2015 overview. I'm also nearly complete with detailing all the models from 1999! Quote
MikroMan Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Great work as always, Blakbird! Can't wait for the updates, I especially look forward to reading about 8446 and 8448. Your Technicopedia inspired me to buy some of the older Technic sets I've been looking at as a kid, especially, the 8480. Quote
Jonfensu Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Impressive your contribution to the Technic theme, Blakbird.!! What would we do without you? I am curious, Did you include an article of the 8455? And how much took to create and render the 42043? Quote
Blakbird Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Update Major update to Technicopedia. I'm happy to announce that 1999 is now uploaded with sets 1257, 1258, 1259, 1260, 8246, 8247, 8251, 8252, 8253, 8255, 8268, 8269, 8444, 8445, 8446, 8448, 8500, 8501, 8502, 8503, 8504, 8505, 8506, 8507, and 8520. That's right, there were 25 sets that year. 8448 was really fun, and I got a new respect for 8446 after writing about it. As always, let me know what you think. Quote
MikroMan Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 That's a lot of sets for one year, even if a quite a few of them are tiny ones and Slizer line. Looking forward to reading this, thankfully I'm (mostly) free tomorrow Quote
Nick Barrett Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Thankyou Blakbird. I suddenly have a bit more respect for 8446 with it's clever mechanisms. Still hard to look at though... Quote
Saberwing40k Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Nice to see this update, and 8448, finally. But, I think there is an omission with 8252 Beach Buster. It has 4 modules, not 3. The missing module is an odd single wheeled thing that uses a small wheel and tire. As seen here: Quote

The missing module is an odd single wheeled thing that uses a small wheel and tire. Hmmm, looks like that last module is not used when the main model is built. I have been searching my archives trying to find the box for this (which is where the other parts would be), but so far no luck. Quote
bonox Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I've always loved the multi-sets into one idea as an extension of the basic B model for any given set. TLG have some fun little ones, but NK probably took it to the limit :) Quote
Ondra Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Thank you so much for bringing me best year of my life in lego form.SSS was my first car love, but father tells me that Im small for these kind of models .I was 7 years old.. Quote
BusterHaus Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Thanks for the hard work. I find the descriptions very entertaining - please keep going. Quote
MikroMan Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) So, I'm not entirely sure whether I'm just so sleepy or there's a mistake in here somewhere: "The two claw jaws are linked together with a pair of 16 tooth pinion spur gears to the star synchronized." This is in the description of 8446, claw section. EDIT: So here's another question, in the year 1994, parts section, you wrote that the cam was introduced, with 6 axle holes. Is this correct, because I'm seeing only four? Edited April 20, 2016 by MikroMan Quote
Interceptor Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) Thanks for great work Blakbird. I like1999 because of 8448 SSS. It is one of my favourite LEGO Technic supercars. Two things came to my mind readng Technicopedia again. None of them means big work but immediate improvement IMO. - Texts of categories: could be updated to 2015 because there are sentences that stay out (for example regarding Cranes: "8421 and 42009 are by far the most complicated" <> 42043). This would increase coherence which is ultimate for proper reference. - Pictures of categores : some sets are almost completely hidden by pics of other sets and also pics could be updated to 2015 (for example 42043 is missing from BigRigs category).
