November 9, 200717 yr One might argue that my first was a Shell gas station from the 80's (#6371). If you're asking about oldest, coincidentally, it's another Shell station (#690), this time picked up in an eBay lot and dating back to 1974. Since your question was clearly intended for the newer lines of licensed products, as in the ones based on movies etc, I'd have to say it was Graveyard Duel (#4766) from HP. Never actually built as the original set (except the tree, since I had no use at all for more rewn/frown/reddishpoopbrown). I wanted black chains, mechanical claws, and the sand green slopes. Plus random minifigs always come in handy. *y* That was the first and last HP set I've bought. Since then, I've picked up a couple of Spongebob sets and both of the Avatar sets, mostly because they were on a healthy clearance. I do buy licensed minifigs whenever I can, just because they provide new faces and torsos to work with, so I'm quite happy to see licenses, but especially so the upcoming Indiana Jones. *wub*
November 9, 200717 yr Forbidden Corridor: I wanted Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and that three-headed dog was too cool to pass up.
November 9, 200717 yr well, mine are the Batman sets: The Batboat Edited November 9, 200717 yr by baby
November 9, 200717 yr That set from Harry Potter, with the Philosopher's Stone. One of my many Harry Potter sets, stil think they're fantastic! (4702)
November 9, 200717 yr The Batmobile: Two-Face's Escape, it is an awesome set, and the minifigures are very good and detailed. Batbrick-has-Batman Away! >:-)
November 9, 200717 yr Batman Dragster. Cheapest set to see what all the fuss was about. Subsequently go the -boat, -plane, -mobile and Asylum.
November 9, 200717 yr think it might have been Jabba's palace I (the front door) though i can't remember back any further.
November 10, 200717 yr I think it was Hogwarts. I don't like Harry Potter, or most of the sets, but it was half price. *sweet* Harry Potter sites at half price are great parts sets. I got the The Durmstrang Ship and "Rescue from the Merpeople" for half price too!
November 10, 200717 yr Mine was that Harry Potter vs Proffeser Quill set... really horrible. :-X -ZotS
November 10, 200717 yr i was so happy to finally see a lego house again! this was all before the amazing creator houses and the modular buildings.
November 11, 200717 yr 4701 Harry P. got it for Sinterklaas (Saint-Nicolas). It was not a very good build, but it had some very nice new pieces for me. :-)
November 11, 200717 yr As above ^ what was your first non star wars licensed set , could be from harry potter/ spider man e.c.tmy first and only ( :( ) harry potter set was 4701 sorting hat i got it free in the paper This was my first aswell along with the philosphers stone quirrel one, he was such a cool mini fig! X-D
November 11, 200717 yr I don't have any, most of what i bought the last years was BL orders and pirate sets *wub*
November 14, 200717 yr think it might have been Jabba's palace I(the front door) though i can't remember back any further. That's not a non-Star Wars set. *wacko* Anyway, I think mine was this Spider-man set; An awesome set. *wub* ~Peace
November 14, 200717 yr Mine was Spiderman, i picked those up straight away. Looking back those sets sure weren't the best and i do now regret buying them.
November 14, 200717 yr One might argue that my first was a Shell gas station from the 80's (#6371). This must be my first as well. The following two Shell gas stations are definatly among the best city sets. *wub* (Is Lego the reason why I do prefer Shell when I have to get some gasoline for my car? :-D Do younger ones look out for Octan stations? :-P) From the newer lines it must be the Batman magnets - if they count as set. :-D
November 14, 200717 yr Mine was 4701 Sorting Hat. In fact this was the beginning of a very slippery slope because up until then I had insisted on only purchasing more traditional lego with real blocks and plates on the basis that the fancy new sets would be useless once you tired of the theme. As it happens I went on to acquire the entire HP theme before shifting to Star Wars and doing likewise. Of course I was right in that the themed sets have stayed assembled, especially the HP sets as they all linked together beautifully to create a large Hogworths campus and environs. If I ever get my hands on the designer of that little set ..... !!! David
November 22, 200717 yr APART from Star Wars (of which my first was the Tatooine Landspeeder), it's either Harry Potter and Quirrell with the Stone or, if we're going less strict, a set of Dutch football team minifigs at Shell. Nowadays, almost all Lego I buy is from a license. Those and Castle. Yup. :-) Edited November 22, 200717 yr by Mr Spielbrick
November 23, 200717 yr Not sure if this was a licensed set, but is a Shell one so probably: Even if there's no license involved, it's still a great set. Pity I lost all stickers :-(
November 23, 200717 yr Star Wars is all I've ever bought. Edited November 23, 200717 yr by Rune Haako
