FIRST ORDER TRANSPORTER

Hi again everyone

I have managed to find the time to piece together this little model of the First Order Transporter (Normandy Landing Craft J ) from TFA.

The ship itself is actually quite long and the LEGO model is far too stubby. The size of this model was dictated by the use of the technic pieces for the engines. These pieces are perfect for this part of the model.

It is actually quite a simple build but I am really happy with how it turned out and have managed to include most of the features.

Let me know your thoughts. Here is the model:

REY's SPEEDER

The next MINI model is from Episode VII and is Rey's Speeder. This is a simple little build and all came from the front section and worked backwards. Was something nice and simple to break my drought.

FIRST ORDER SNOWSPEEDER

I managed to pick up the First Order Snowspeeder Microfighter over the New Year in our local Sainsburys. I thought with a little modification it could be turned in to a nice little MINI model.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying this turned in to a complete rebuild but not far from it. There are a few parts of the build that have remained the same; the nose section (although lengthened by a couple of plates), the basic shape and the vents at the back.

The rest has been completely rebuilt so the Microfighter was basically a template.

The seats have been redone so the black slope pieces are vertical, the gun replaced, I have removed most of what was underneath and the engines are a completely new build as they were just too big.

I have also added the fins (or wings) to the engines. It would have been so easy for the designer to add these to the brackets on the original Microfighter’s engines. Did they forget to put the pieces on or did they run out of budget on the piece count? ;-)

Anyway here is the model:

Let me know what you think

I agree, this is really good! I love the attention to detail, the cockpit in particular. One tiny detail I noticed that can be easily changed is the grill on the back between the engines. I'd turn that brick around to correct the orientation of the grill.

You also might want to change the light on the front. It might be accurate shapewise but yours is the same size as the cockpit which just doesn't look quite right.

Other than that this is a sweet little model though. :)

Very cool. I'm about to order the parts for a Microfighter style lander and came to the same design solution for the engines as you. :)

This is GREAT!! Before seeing TFA this was somewhat of a meh ship for me, however after seeing TFA, it was my absolute favorite! I have built a set of micro TFA sets based off of some flicker photos I found, but man I NEED this one in my collection. Would you be willing to take off one of the side panels so I can see how its made? I don't mind reverse engineering it if you allow it.

Thank you!! and again. EPIC Mini build man. Kudos

Of course, I will take it apart and show the various sections at the weekend.

Unfortunately I am off to Germany for a couple of days with work otherwise I would do it before.

It is pretty simple though, just 4 2x2 brackets holding the side panels on.

As for reverse engineering - GO FOR IT. That is the whole point of sharing models.

Thanks! I actually sat down last night and worked it out in LDD. Gotta say, I am pretty excited to bricklink one. I was actually about to edit my post and say don't trouble yourself for the pictures. lol.

By far the toughest part was figuring out the ramp connection with the body. I can upload pictures when I get home today. (and I can send you the file if you want it).

Enjoy the business trip! Thanks!!

Hi, apologies for late reply. Had technical issues, illness etc.

I assume that exploded pics are not required? I would love to see another version so feel free to post some pictures.

Thanks again for the psitive feedback everyone.

Hey, good morning,

So I back burnered this until I had the funds for a BL order. When I went to do it yesterday I ran into an issue where the piece highlighted in blue in the first pic does not really exist in that color. (That's what I get for working in extended mode...)

That said, I would love an exploded pic of the side if you could? I can't seem to figure out which side piece you used for the inverted slope at the front.

Thanks!

Right I got that. Thank you. What I can not figure out is the panels on the side. With that piece in there the rest of the design doesn't seem to match (one stud too low or too high). :sceptic:

Hi,

The little ship is basically 4 separate builds. Top, bottom and 2 sides. It looks like you are almost there. ;-)

Below are links to pics of the top bottom and most importantly one of the sides. Feel free to ask for further help.

The first 4 1x2 "plates" you see on the top of the side are the brackets which hold the side panels.

BASE DEFENSE WALKER

Hi everyone

Here is another model I built while i was ill a few weeks back.  This one is just seen in the background during the First Order Parade on Starkiller Base and is the Base Defense Walker.

there are not too many reference pictures out there but there are a couple of minifig scale MOCs which I have also used as references.

No real tricky techniques on this one but let me know what you think.

Jon
