Posted November 9, 200717 yr I just got my new iPhone in the UK! So very very happy right now. X-D :-) I had intended to get one today and was hanging out in the labs in the uni until about 5:50 for the launch at 6:02pm. Then my friend who I was with got a phone from his sister saying there was quite a large queue forming outside the O2 store we had intended to go to. So we headed along, and sure enough, there were about 15-20 people there. This was at about 5:10. The O2 guys took good care of us. They came around with the queue with cups of tea and coffee, and chocolate and blueberry muffins (O2 branded of course). They also came around with snap-to-activate hand warmers, blue glow sticks, and bottles of water (O2 branded again, lol). Just as well since it was freezing cold. :-P When they finally let us in there was a local photographer taking pictures (Yes, we had ours taken along with our names...probably going to be in the local paper tomorrow). I played with one of the demo units, was really impressed, then went up to the counter and bought it, before bringing it home and activating it. I've just spent the last two hours or so playing with it. I really am very happy with my purchase. The iPod is breathtaking, the internet is so useful, and the phone is one of the easiest I've ever used. Not to mention the touchscreen makes everything so much simpler. :-) I hear the German launch was today too. Did anyone in the UK or Germany get one, how do you find it? PS: Sorry, just felt like posting this. Can you tell I'm really happy? Edited November 9, 200717 yr by Mr Hobbles
November 10, 200717 yr This has been avaible in the U.S. for a few months now. Whitch model did you get? Alot of people are pissed off cause ther's already a second version that has more meemory, twice as fast and is smaller, and doesn't have the problems the first version had. You know whats funny? There's going to be a third version coming out somtime early 08. Anyways, i'm not trying to knock your purchase. Glad your happy with it. personally, it wouldn't work for me. I don't wnat my Ipod and my phone intagrated since i need my pnone on me at all times while at work, and i like to put my music on in my shop while i'm working.
November 10, 200717 yr I wouldn't buy one of these as a smart phone without external storage isn't... well... smart. Apple like it that way so you are forced to buy a new one later. :-| This has been avaible in the U.S. for a few months now. Whitch model did you get? Actually you are a bit confused. There has been only one iPhone release with two models, one with 4GB and the other with 8GB. I think the whole price drop after only a few months has made you think there has been a second version already.

I could have sworn i saw on G4's "Attack of the Show" that there was going to be a smaller version avaible. But maybe i was wrong. But i was right that they realsed a second version with higher memory. That and the price drop was a poor move on apples part.

There has been the iTouch, a phoneless version of it which has more memory. But I agree that the price drop was silly. Never piss off early adopters; it would be like Lego putting the UCS MF on a half price sale tomorrow...
November 20, 200717 yr Pfff... Don't be such an iPenis! (No offence) I'm to poor to have one here in New Jersey. If only they hacked it to Verizon though.
November 21, 200717 yr Can you edit the size of the symbols when typing a text message? I played with the iPhone while in the US in July, and my fingers were just too big to not touch at least 2 or 3 different symbols, resulting in unreadable text messages. I might get one if they decide to offer it pre-paid. It would be a waste to pay 40E or something a month if I'm not going to call that much. Never piss off early adopters; it would be like Lego putting the UCS MF on a half price sale tomorrow... I suppose you meant innovators? The early adopters usually doesn't buy a product untill it gets a pricedrop. Anyway, that's the risk you take for being an innovator. You know that people who get it later will pay less. The PS3 is another good example. There's really no reason to complain about pricedrops if you ask me. Besides, it's not the innovators that matter to a company, but the early adopters, since those are the ones that tell their friends and lead to more people buying the product.
