strangely Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 I don't see those floats being included. Do they even have wheels? That's kind of an important part of a parade float even working. Quote

I plan on MOC'ing up a couple of parade floats, and like any good Disney parade float, the wheel are going to be hiding under the build. Quote
Gomek Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Like I said in the CMF thread, I think Goofy will be exclusive to this sets Because............ LEGO is evil I agree. This would be a super crappy move. personally, if they are going to do a $400 set, they really should not put ANY mini figures in it so they don't imply that anyone looking to have a complete collection needs to put down $400 for Lego. As far as kids being able to afford it.....I'm probably gonna get blasted for this, but I don't think kids are the target audience for this set. There, I said it, lol. I think there has been a seismic shift in the way Lego develops products in the last few years. As a life long collector of Lego I can tell you there has definately been a huge shift. I knew some adult builders in the 90's who had been in contact with the Lego company, and they had the same story.. The Lego company use to view Adult collects as a little bit whack-o. I think the internet proved adult fans were in far greater number than previously believed. Licensed themes revitalized Lego and strengthened its place in the collectables world. And then... The modular buildings. To me, this was Lego's first real admission that they are now making toys for adults. But I'll still say $400 is way to much for a set. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 But I'll still say $400 is way to much for a set. It isn't if they make it worth the price. Quote
Silent Nomad Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Has anyone gotten their physical copy of the magazine (if you get it?) I haven't gotten mine yet, and it's the 7th, it seems weird. I got mine a few days ago, though I forget exactly when. It might have actually been on the 7th, now that I think about it. Did anyone else get that weird cover outside the regular cover on theirs? notpennysboat Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Every time I see new messages I am hoping some good news, maybe a picture, a tiny teaser but if we had a visual of Disney CMF super late, we probably will have a visual of Castle Quote
Tech Artist Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) It isn't if they make it worth the price. $400 is expensive. Is it expensive compared to other sets? Probably not. Ghostbusters I think was $350 to $400. That's still very expensive and overpriced but I've come to expect that with Lego. I love Legos but even I think their pricing is too high but I'll still buy them regardless. Edited May 9, 2016 by Tech Artist Quote
brick-fu Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I really don't think that $400 is too much for a Lego set. The Ghostbusters firehouse is $350, and it seems to be doing well. Let's say Lego did a Disney haunted mansion for instance....and did it really well. I'm talking 5,000 pieces, and super detailed with 20-30 mini figures. How much do you think folks would pay for that? I'm betting $400-500 wouldn't be a stretch. It all hinges on how well the set designs are executed. If Lego gives us more Ghostbusters firehouses and less Assault on Hoth, I think the price ceiling has not yet been reached. One thing is for sure, with this being Lego's largest ever Disney set there are going to be A LOT of people anticipating this. Lego has a chance to make a huge statement with this set. Let's just hope they have sense enough to realize that.....but I'm betting they do. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I think this could be a flagship set in the same way that the Death Star was for Star Wars. It is big and recognizable. Even if it is $400, there certainly is a market for it. I suspect many will save up for it, cash in some bonds, or do whatever it takes to acquire it. For $400, I still would not expect a closed back, unless it was hinged and opened up somehow, but then it would not be as big as it could be. I do not think Goofy would appear here, Cinderella seems more appropriate for an exclusive. After all, the castle is named after her and in WDW, the ever popular Cinderella's Royal Table is there. Her character always appears when they have character breakfasts there. Quote
a11mark Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Hi (new member here) but I've been following this thread for sometime and I have a couple of questions (that probably wont get answered untill this is officially annouced) some prices quoted here are $300-$400 much like the Death Star and Ghostbusters firehouse, but I would class those two sets as playsets (sets with multiple levels, rooms & that can be opened up) at that price would it not suggest that the castle would open up and have rooms in? (I'm just speculating) If they are going for the Park Castle, the Cinderella Castle in WDW houses a restaurant, a 5* room (that if your famous or rich enough you can stay the night in) and alot of stairs for tinkerbell cast member to climb for the wishes fireworks display. The set could have anything in I suppose, they could go down the fairytale route but would you pay $400 for a set that didnt open up? or have multiple rooms? Edited May 10, 2016 by a11mark Quote
ezaida18 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Would it be scaled in line with the Modulars as well? If so, I reckon it might be as tall as the Ferris Wheel. Or taller?? I also don't think it will have rooms, more of an exterior build, like the UCS Millenium Falcon. Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Disney CMF are sold out in most places already (including S@H). Lots of non-AFOLs buy them. It's going to be the same with the Castle, regardless of it's price, unless they fail in design. If it's long enough on the shelves, like Death Star was, most people who are already into an expensive hobby can easily save money for it. And many others will buy it simply because they care for Disney. It's going to be huge and opened on one side, or smaller but more GB HQ-like. Hopefully it'll be both! Quote
MickeyMouse Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Thanks for providing more info! I'll add it to the OP. Thanks! Really awesome of you. :) Hope they go all in, so I welcome the $400 price. If they're going to do it, do it right (at least in the most feasible way). Cautiously excited! I hope it's the maximum price as well. As far as kids being able to afford it.....I'm probably gonna get blasted for this, but I don't think kids are the target audience for this set. There, I said it, lol. I think there has been a seismic shift in the way Lego develops products in the last few years. This set may arguably be geared even more towards adult Disney fans than it is towards AFOLs. It's definitely not "for kids," but it could be seen as a "family" set in the way the Firehouse or large Star Wars sets are built by families together. I'm confused. Why are we trusting "MickeyMouse" more than we do other news-bearing new members? I'm not saying MickeyMouse is lying, I tend to just take everything with a large dose of salt (Even from CM4Sci, Just2Good, Tragic Banjo, etc.) just because salt makes things taste better. I just don't know why we're all jumping up and down because of "MickeyMouse", whereas we often bludgeon, belittle and barf on other new members with "News". Perhaps it's the name...or the profile picture... Like I said, I'm not accusing our new friend MickeyMouse of lying, but I'm not sure why we're blindly trusting him. Hey man, no worries. I'd be the first to say that I know less about LEGO than everyone else here. I want to be clear: I don't know any concrete information about this set beyond the price. I'm a huge Disney fan and a casual LEGO collector (hardly an AFOL), and I'm very excited about this one. I was in a position to ask someone who knew, so I asked. That's about it. So I found THIS is in the new LEGO Club Magazine, May-June 2016 issue: Page 8 here: http://catalogs.lego...rickMayJun2016/ A possible inclusion? As a Disney fan, I see this less as a true parade float and more as a platform that might sit down in front of the castle. Pure speculation, though. For that price it better be on par or above the Ghostbusters set. I want to see a nice selection of Minifigures. Me too. I'd really like to see a Partners Statue, as well. Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 The nice thing if we get the Partners Statue is there is one in both Florida and California. Quote
0tter Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Having given it a bit of thought, and given we don't have a lot of confirmation on any details (was the $400 price tag ever confirmed?), I wouldn't be surprised to see something of the same size and scope as the Kingdoms Joust 10223 set from a few years ago, complete with open back, and priced a bit more expensively. And I'd be quite happy with that. Quote
ARo2891 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I would be brutally disappointed if this had an open back; a set at that alleged price should either come with a boatload of figs in my opinion, or be a gorgeous display piece. I would love a dollhouse opening like the GBHQ but I'm absolutely biased as a build-to-display AFOL. Heck, even as a kid I hated that all of my favorite old HP sets had open backs and sides that made it very hard for me to set them up and enjoy the view. Quote
Legocity2713 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) Beast (From Beauty and the Beast) has a headpiece that can fit on a normal figure! http://www.beardedne...the_beast04.jpg Not really having to do with this topic but it is good if you want to incorporate such a classic Disney figure into this castle. ixSEANxi Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 We better get Disneyland Mickey in this set. suit and all. Quote
disneyfreak08 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I really hope this set worth the price! I've been wanting Disney theme park sets for years! Glad to see its finally happening! I really want pictures! Quote
jjr_2009 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I'm curious about the castle's interior: Surely they won't go for realism and include a restaurant and a VIP hotel room! Quote
Soupperson1 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I'm curious about the castle's interior: Surely they won't go for realism and include a restaurant and a VIP hotel room! Depends if they include tourists or not. Quote
legofanbubba Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 All I know is I can not wait for this set! For the price point I'm sure it'll be worth every single penny! Quote
0tter Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Ours will really only be for display, so an interior is not important, and I'd rather see everything put into the facade, but I know a lot of people would appreciate some play features. Quote
Tech Artist Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 At this point I'm thinking this will be mostly a facade. If they include any interior it might be for the princess and even then it will likely be a small room. Just something extra they can add for value. Perhaps a door or section that opens in one of the spires. Quote
