Dosenbrot Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Its beautiful. One of the best Castle's LEGO has ever made. Im getting this beast on release! Quote
Bricksnaps Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Well done Lego. Very exciting and gorgeous work. Day one purchase and day one build. They nailed it. Now. Do you get two to make it complete and open up from the back like the old castle grayskull toy set? Really they have outdone themselves Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 It haunted me for months. I was scared they will mess it up. Now I can finally sleep peacefully. Waiting for a piece count now. Strange that only 5 minifigs are included and four of them are variants, but it doesn't bother me much. I mean how could they not make second CMF series? It sells like hotcakes. And we already have 18 characters to fit in! Yes they nailed it. Just how high is this thing? Quote
RyanMe Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Wow even more! The target practice might even be a double reference: Looking at the colour combination of the archery target, I think it hints at Brave, as well as Robin Hood. The classic colours of the target (yellow-red-blue) fit Robin Hood much better than Brave which used more earthy and less saturated colours for the targets in the movie Clearly a nod to brave. Those cookies that are by the bow are the same cookies that came with the Merida Lego Disney princess set Quote
0tter Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Words fail me... I was going to get it for my wife regardless of how it turned out. But I want that for my collection. Congratulations LEGO, and all of us. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I would say it is a disservice to fans to only include 5 figures for a set this huge (piece and price wise).... Not that I would necessarily buy it if it had more figures. I don't have $400 to spare to buy GB HQ, not sure how I could afford this also...although I would rather have a castle than a big red building I suppose. I do like the nods to certain movies/moments within the castle, but I don't think I'm a big enough Disney fan to appreciate it. I think I'm more of a castle fan appreciating it. Who knows... Quote
Nerd-with-a-Pencil Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Wow. I love the various Disney references inside the castle (and out-Naveen and Tiana are in the moat!), and I adore the fact that the top tower has a couple stud shooters to make a fireworks show. Now if only they made a LEGO Haunted Mansion... Quote
Jarreth2 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I'm suitably impressed .. will definitely be a purchase for me .. saddened by the lack of minifigures but ah well .. but why oh why do they give Tinkerbell a wand .. she doesn't own a wand ! Quote
Boromir Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 This just looks fantastic. I'm a Disney fan and of course there is no way I'm passing on this. I can't wait to display this with the disney CMF's. Everything's going to be awesome! Quote
Tech Artist Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I am disappointed they didn't do a full castle and just put it on hinges so it could open up but the detail that went into this is just incredible that I am willing to forgive that. Now I wait for someone to buy 2 and put them together. :) Quote
legobagel Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 One thing I'm happy about is how they put some shape on the interior, and didn't just make it flat at the back. They actually round the corners and added more shape to the castle, and I think it looks really nice. Quote
strangely Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I was sort of hoping the build would be awful so I wouldn't have to buy it, but as ever Lego has to outdo themselves. So I'll probably be buying this at some point, granted it will take a while to set aside that much money. Looking at the interior I can't help but think this is hinting at the CMF line up for series 2. The Beauty and the Beast room has two pegs, perfect for Belle with the queen dress piece. A maid version of Cinderella for that kitchen. Aurora for the spinning wheel. Sorcerer Mickey (And to think people were skeptical of that mop piece being used for the magic broom). Evil Queen because of the mirror (Although like the Beauty and the beast room it has the plates almost like a character with a dress piece would be placed there). Got to say the one thing I really don't like about this set is the minifigures, which it's rare for that to not be the selling point in a Lego set. A lot of pointless rehashes. Then again it would be cruel to make a character like Cinderella exclusive to this set only, so maybe variations are for the best. Tinkerbell is nice, but doesn't do much for me because of scale. skelliesgang Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Looks good but the minifig assortment could've been more interesting. I would've liked a fully enclosed castle but I understand why the didn't to keep the piece count/price down. Just estimating the height by eye...maybe just short of 2 feet? Quote
Jern92 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I'm rather disappointed with the open back, but the little scenes in the castle look good. Still on the fence about whether I actually want this or not. While it looks cool, it'll be very out of place in my modular city. Also it seems more like a display frame for the Disney collectible minifigures, which I do not have (except for Stitch and Captain Hook). Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Yes!!! I want this. Wish I could get a high res interior shot, but from what I see I am very satisfied. The front facade is very accurate, the build is huge and satisfying. I think I know what I want for Christmas! Quote
sunhuntin Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Will be interesting to see how portable it is, whether it can seperate into sections to make this easier. Hope it has stable baseplating, too. Storage will also be an issue once its built, as all my other sets that stay built are stored in boxes under my bed and I dont think that will work for this one. Depending on width and height, I might have to find some where dedicated for it to sit between shows and just throw a thin cover over to keep the dust off. I do wish they had given us Goofy instead of Donald, or jazzed Donald up some so he doesnt look the same as the CMF release. Edited July 9, 2016 by sunhuntin Quote
tafkatb Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Piece count is just over 4000 from what I've heard, if anyone's curious. I can confirm the $350 price point too. Quote
Khscarymovie4 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I think I have a new favorite set of the year. Quote
Ashnflash Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Wow I just got home and quickly went online to see if there were more pictures because I had only seen the leaked picture of the bottom this morning! I was so happy and surprised to see all those amazing references and nods to all the other Disney movies! Well done LEGO! I definitely somehow need to pick this up! Also love the stud shooter fireworks!!! Edited July 9, 2016 by Ashnflash Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Piece count is just over 4000 from what I've heard, if anyone's curious. I can confirm the $350 price point too. Helicarrier...Ghostbusters' Firehouse Headquarters...Disney Cinderella Castle! These $350 keep getting better! And stay the same price, of course. Ouch. Quote
Bricksnaps Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I'm not bothered at all about the minifigs. I think all the rooms will be where we can place/display or play with the CMFs to come in the future. My little boy said he wants to build it, my little girl wants to play with it. It is just a brilliant. I hope we all remember the fear we had that it wouldn't be what we wanted, and quite frankly no one can be disappointed. I am sure that when it comes out people will have complaints here and there but I really hope if that is the case that they keep them to themselves and not spoil what is clearly a master piece. Quite frankly this set is a thing of pure beauty. Well done. Well done. Quote
Nick Wolfe Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I also thought the Archery stuff was for Robin Hood until someone said Brave.... I just don't have space for all these big sets anymore! It's so pretty though! Quote
