Rookie875 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 It was rumoured we would be getting Cinderella but I guess not So no Cinderella? Wow, given it is CINDERELLA's Castle and not Tinkerbell's that really is pathetic. That is very, very, sad. It is like making a set called "Hulk's Super City Smash" and including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine. Seriously LEGO? Pretty much, shame but we will more than likely be getting her in disney series 2 It really should have Cinderella. This is a huge misstep. It should be Cinderella, the Prince, and at least a couple of other minifigures (and a couple of mice and birds wouldn't hurt). Maybe the Fairy Godmother, too. I guess they're waiting for the next series of Disney minifigures so they can make us pay even more to get what should be a complete set here. My guess is that they wanted to make this set appeal to all genders and ages including young boys who I'm guessing wouldn't buy a castle with Cinderella (and the Prince, Anastasia, etc.) Quote

Anonknee Muss Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Actually Tinkerbell is accurate to the real life building, as during Firework shows she "glides" from the tallest tower down to the ground. The fact there are stud shooters hidden in the tower makes me think Tinkerbell was included for a fireworks recreation. And yes despite the real life Cinderella theming of the building, she is rarely seen there in Disney World! She is normally in a "Princess Meet and Great" building around the corner behind the castle. Disney parks are kind of weird that way... Disneyland has it even worse,Sleeping Beauty is rarely seen at all in the park! In fact I think the most common characters to see near the Castle in real life is Mickey in a suit, Minnie in a red dress, Donald, and Daisy... Lego hit the nail right on the head with their figure selection! Fair enough then! Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 If it had 8-10 figs it would probably cost like 50$ more. The castle is more important. We already have enough characters to fill it. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 As long as there's a second Disney CMF series next year, I'm not too bothered by the lack of minifigs in this set Sure they could've included a couple more (especially given the price), but at least the ones we get are excellent, Tinkerbell in particular Quote
Karalora Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I disagree about having all the Cinderella related characters in it but certainly Cinderella, after all this is the castle based on Disneyland, I hope I'm not being an megablocks by nitpicking this point, but this set is based on the castle in Walt Disney World (in Orlando, Florida), not Disneyland (in Anaheim, California). In Disneyland, our castle is called Sleeping Beauty Castle and is shorter and cozier looking. But since it comes up...in both parks, the castle is named after a Princess character but the face character doesn't necessarily hang out there. The names are more cosmetic/rhetorical than literal, identifying the castle as a fairy tale castle more so than specifying who supposedly lives there. As others have pointed out, Tinker Bell flies over the castle and sets off the fireworks each night, so it's just as fitting to associate her with the set than Cinderella, if not more so. Disney theme parks take a lot of inspiration from Disney movies, but they are not interchangeable! There is so much more to the parks than just the movie tie-ins! Quote

Conzo71 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 For the price I expected more exclusive minifigures. At the end we will have a Donald Duck equal the season 1 and Minnie, Mickey and Daisy with different clothes. I expected more minifigures like Ghostbusters. I hope doesn‘t have Tinker Bell in season 2. Quote
notpennysboat Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I agree, looks like oversized playset, which isnt shocking. But price will be shocking in non USA countries, i think 350 USD will be same as 350 euro plus at least 30 euro in many other european countries other than Germany. Well isnt this fair for some kilograms of plastic... Right, in France we have the HQ Ghostbusters at 390€ ouch ! :( Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Didn't someone say cinderella was going to be in it? Really disappointed that they didn't bother to put her in there. Quote

x105Black Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Yes, the structure in the Disney park is called Cinderella's Castle. When making a set based upon that building, of course they would give it the same name. However, when making a LEGO set called Cinderella's Castle, they really should have included Cinderella. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Isn't the full name of the set something like "Walt Disney World: Cinderella's Castle"? Quote
Captain Nemo Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Please don't bicker about the lack of inclusion of the Cinderella character. The set is clearly the based on the theme park building named Cinderella's Castle, rather than the movie/characters from which it takes its name. There's really no point in dragging out this issue. Thanks! Quote

Just like Walt Disney World is the name of the resort complex even though Walt Disney died long before any of it was built. Indeed, Walt actually planned it as just "Disney World". After he died, while it was still being developed / built, his brother Roy Disney decided to add "Walt" to the resort's name, specifically to honor his brother and ensure everyone associated it with Walt and his accomplishments rather than himself. Karalora Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Honestly, if someone drops $350 on a LEGO set based on the assumption that it includes a particular minifig, doesn't verify this assumption via the pictures on the front and side of the box, and then is disappointed to find it doesn't include said minifig...frankly they deserve their disappointment. Oky Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Oh My Disney! It's beautiful! So many details and all those references to the movies inside! It's everything I hoped it would be! Of course it would have been nice to get some princesses to populate it with, especially Cinderella herself, but like with the Kwik-E Mart it's good that they limited themselves to only one exclusive character so that those who can't afford it (which is most people) wont miss out on much. And considering it's based on the parks, Tink was the best choice I think. 4080 pieces for $350 is a great deal! Can't wait to get it! Does anyone know if this will be shown at SDCC? Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 So are we now up to 4 4000+ piece sets for 2016?! This is awesome! Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 4080 pieces for $350 is a great deal! Can't wait to get it! 4634 pieces for $350 was a great deal. ;) But yeah, not bad at all. I expected much less judging on Batcave / Hoth. Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Indeed, Walt actually planned it as just "Disney World". After he died, while it was still being developed / built, his brother Roy Disney decided to add "Walt" to the resort's name, specifically to honor his brother and ensure everyone associated it with Walt and his accomplishments rather than himself. Not to mention Walt didn't really care for planning the Magic Kingdom Park; he had done the same thing already at Disneyland and didn't want to repeat himself. His original goal was for the property to house a model futuristic city called the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT). The theme park was only supposed to be an addition to that city. Of course with Walt's death EPCOT was scrapped, and the theme park was built instead. The modern Epcot theme park pays homage to Walt's vision, but is nothing like his original plan. Also if anyone needs Cinderella I'm sure the minidoll version is cheap on Bricklink! I wonder how much it will be in PLN - like Helicarrier (1400 zł) or like Ghostbusters HQ (1600 zł)? Explanation - this difference is almost equal to price for WALL-E or Ecto-1. Quote
