gedren_y Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 The minidoll idea makes sense to me. From the Disney perspective, this set and the minifigs likely represent the parks characters. Disney Princesses characters are part of the park experience, so a set based on a major park attraction would be expected by Disney to be somewhere the minidolls would fit in. It is a way for the set to appeal to the broader Disney fan bases. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) I've read the mini doll ideas a few times and this is only my opinion but I just don't think Lego ( and Disney to an extent ) would mix the two .. my personal preference is minifigs and I'm hoping the rooms in the castle are an indication of minifigures yet to come ^_^ Edited August 5, 2016 by Jarreth2 Quote
LegoAndDisney Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 @Jarreth2 From a marketing point of view though, it makes perfect sense because if kids ask for the set, they've got all the disney minifigures and the Princess Minidolls to put in the castle; so if parents complain about the price tag, it could be argued that there's loads of content for kids to play with if they own the other sets. Also it's way to convenient that all the rooms are associated with characters that have minidoll forms. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Again some good points .. I think this is geared more towards AFOL's rather than kids ( but who knows ! ) .. the magic carpet hanging on the wall on the lower floor obviously from Aladdin so we have Aladdin in minifig form, Genie in minifig form and Jasmine in mini doll form .. the two styles just don't mix for me .. they don't look good together .. Im gonna hope Jasmine may appear in the next series ^_^ Quote
gedren_y Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 My point was about the appeal to the non-FOL Disney fans. This is a FOL community, and we tend to post about AFOL buyers when discussing expensive sets. There are Disney fans that spend thousands on memorabilia for display. This is why I think the bow and target area hold no other references to Brave, because the adult Disney fan is more likely to be reminded of the classic animated and/or live-action Robin Hood. My rant about licensing and the minidoll: The whole idea around the licensed sets is to draw in non-FOL fans of the property, not simply increasing the buying share of the existing Lego buyers. The same could be said for the minidoll, that the intent was to capture a portion of the non-FOL doll buyers. Mostly female, but not all. The look and packaging is designed to look like most of the other doll products it is competing against. The similarity to Polly Pocket cannot be overstated. Friends finally did what Belville and Scala tried to do. Disney markets its Disney Princesses property to the doll buying public, so the Lego sets are targeted the same way. Elves falls into this same vein, but towards those who prefer Monster High to Barbie. Quote
LegoAndDisney Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I think it's connected to brave because I'm 95% sure there's cakes or cookies around the target area, which is a reference to Brave and Merida's 3 brothers. Who we also have minifigures of if you include the three bears from the Merida Set. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 When I look at those pieces I see the perpendicular cut end of a log. I don't know, if it was supposed to represent that, why didn't they use this existing part instead? Quote
lomis Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 This set looks amazing, although I wonder about the odd connections between the round wall elements, like this: The real castle doesn't look this "broken up". Also, I'm hoping TLG has another round of Double VIP in October... and that the set won't be sold out at that point. Quote

I'll be Double Upset if they do release some exclusive polybag to go only with the castle, and it won't coincide with Double VIP. But... Mr. Freeze was added to all orders above certain amount, wasn't it? Quote

LegoCloneFanatic Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Has more Disney CMF be confirmed? Its weird that we are getting Cinderellla's Castle and yet we dont have a Cinderella in Minifigure form with her Prince Charming (that is his name people up above) Quote
Robert8 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 i just watched the designer video and he didn't mention the designer section of the castle So, is that a reference to Cinderella? I'm not sure because there is pumpkin with a diabolic face there... Quote
kelceycoe Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Has more Disney CMF be confirmed? Its weird that we are getting Cinderellla's Castle and yet we dont have a Cinderella in Minifigure form with her Prince Charming (that is his name people up above) How many times do you honestly see Cinderella at Disney World? How many times outside of "Cinderella" do you see the castle associated with Cinderella? Until Storybook and this Princess crap came in, Cinderella was mainly used in the parade. I was a faithful visitor to Disney World from 2009 to 2013 when I lived in Florida. Also, think Disney overall. Whenever you see a "Magical World of Disney" who do you see? Tinkerbell flying a lot of times (see the opening to this show on Youtube to see what I mean). As for the archery section... I haven't watched Brave nor am I really interested in seeing it since it was a CG film and not the traditional animation like Princess and the FRog. But I highly doubt that is a reference to "Robin Hood." Also keep in mind, despite many of these rooms reflect already-existing Disney Princess sets, many of them are also famous Disney films (Snow White and Fantasia being traditional examples). As much as I love Robin Hood (TLG already made a couple Robin Hood themes back in the '80s and '90s... and in the UK they were really called Robin Hood and they came with printed target pieces and were alot like Disney's Robin Hood except with humans and not animals). Also, when Michael Eisner walked out during MWOD, Mickey and a few of his friends joined him. I do hate that Goofy and Pluto aren't included and don't see why Daisy is, aside from the mould already existing from Donald's and that both Goofy and Pluto require two new molds (they got Pluto's body from scooby doo pretty much but his head needs modification and both Pluto and Goofy are dogs so it shouldn't be too difficult to make a similar mold from that). I'm not sure because there is pumpkin with a diabolic face there... Could be an obscure reference to Disney's legend of sleepy hollow. Quote
a11mark Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Can anyone tell me if this will be on the UK Lego VIP program? Quote

I'm not sure because there is pumpkin with a diabolic face there... I think that particular pumpkin was used because it's the best option available The face is not supposed to be visible hence they positioned it the way they did. The same thing was done with Hagrid's Hut, where the pumpkins (printed minifig heads in that case) were placed in a manner so the printed faces weren't visible Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Some new pictures from Lego Store building? Please? Quote
Robert8 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Review http://www.promobric...h-details/18782 Call me crazy, but I think they mixed up the Little Mermaid and Cinderella in this picture ↑ ↑ ↑ Edited August 15, 2016 by Robert8 Quote
Boettner Builds Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 There is no way they made a mistake as big as that on the official box!!!!! Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 I got a little fold-out pamphlet advertising "come see the castle at your store aaa" Anyone else? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Hmmm, that's interesting they let that slide. Anyways, Mickey and Minnie look great! Tinkerbell looks amazing, can't wait for a second series of the Disney figures now. Quote
