x105Black Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Here is a video of a super smooth build of this castle that was posted to Reddit: Wow, that's a really fun and interesting video! Thanks for posting! Quote
alsielou Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Love that stop motion video! For those that have built it, is it feasible to put minifigures along the balcony (that has the Brave target practise on it), or could you not see them above the towers? Quote
0tter Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Well... castle is on the way (and my BLed red crab for the kitchen). Very excited about this one. :) Quote

I just saw your post so dashed upstairs and took these for you .. Donald and Daisy are on the 'Brave' balcony as you put it .. and from a normal view you can only just see the tops of their heads. Smaller minifigs like the Ducks do just fit in to the clock tower balcony though Hope this helps Edited August 26, 2016 by Jarreth2 Quote

Oh I am a tiny bit disappointed that the Brave balcony doesn't work for that purpose as it would have been a great way to display extra minifigs but it doesn't at all affect my plans to purchase this amazing set (I'm just waiting for first Christmas freebie). Those two standing in the clock tower look very sweet though, so that is nice to know!! Although maybe they could just stand on extra bricks to peek over the edge!! I am sure my daughters and I will have fun working out ways to include our other figures! Edited August 26, 2016 by alsielou Quote

I wanted her and Mickey up there but because of her dress she won't fit :( Quote
Jarreth2 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Another question .. how are people attaching Tinkerbell to the castle I managed to work something out but just wondered how others had done it ? Quote
Jarreth2 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Thinking of other ways to incorporate some of the other minifigs .. Peter Pan flies round the castle and evades the clutches of Captain Hook .. just had a thought that I hope they might include Tiana and Naveen in series 2 then the 2 frogs can transform back into their humans forms ^_^ Quote
Cmay91472 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Another question .. how are people attaching Tinkerbell to the castle I managed to work something out but just wondered how others had done it ? I used one of those clear rods that came in the Dr. Strange set and attached it to the maroon 2x2 single stud smooth plate in the 'mirror, mirror' section. What did you end up doing? Quote
JayLJohnston Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi All, I searched this topic and this was brought up before, but I wanted to hammer this home. On page 180 of the instructions, they have you putting a rock sticker on what becomes the left center tower. I don't believe that the book is printed correctly here, and I contacted TLG about it too. I would either wait until you get to the taller tower sections to put this on, as the alignment in the book seems to never be correct. If you look at other's photos who built it, I have yet to see someone actually have that sticker in the correct place. Be warned about this spot... might be the same on the other side too, but this is where I've seen it the most. hth Quote

I had to correct mine as well as I also made the mistake of following the directions. I originally called them about getting a replacement Minnie head and leg piece and asked about a new sticker sheet a couple days after it was released, they told me they weren't available yet but she noted in the system and said to try back after Sept 1. Having received replacement sticker sheets from TLG in the past and seeing that they were often reprints that were sometimes not the same quality as the original sheets, I just went ahead and got the stickers from somewhere else. KateB Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I went to my local(ish) Lego Store today with my kids and got to look at the Castle made up, compared to the Ghostbusters HQ (which is next on my wish list). I have to say for a whopping great £290 I found it quite disappointing. The aesthetics of the exterior look better in pictures and on the box and whilst the little details inside are cute, there's not enough of them and not impressive enough. Of course this is just my opinion and there will be many, many people who love it. To me it just feels like a bigger version of the Disney Cinderella Castle, and size is definitely not everything. I would have much preferred this to be an open out/close set like the Ghostbusters HQ/Simpsons House/Haunted Mansion. It just doesn't seem like much fun or have a lot of playability (though I'm a bit old for a lot of playing!) I also can't help but feel we've been seriously short changed on the Minifigures - only 5?! The Ghostbusters HQ has 12! I'm actually quite glad I don't like this set much as I seriously can't afford to add this one to my wish list as well ;-) Quote

Cmay91472 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 The S@H site appears to have sold out their stock within 2 hours of US release... Someone mentioned on Reddit that they were told by S@H when they called that it won't be back in stock in the US until end of Sept. You can still get it at Disney's own store website, albeit higher cost due to shipping. Quote
atomic80 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 When I went to the LEGO store this morning to get the newest architecture sets they had PLENTY of these Disney castles in stock. I estimate that they must have sold at least 40 when I was there. Quote

I estimate that they must have sold at least 40 when I was there. What store location? That's an awfully high amount of stock for even the largest volume stores. Another odd thing i noticed about the instructions...steps 294 and 358 are basically identical builds except in 294, they use light grey strips and in 358 they use black strips. These strips are what attaches to the castle, so they are not really visible, but when looking close up, you can clearly see the two different colors on opposite sides of the entrance on the pillars/turrets. Again, not a huge deal but just seems odd since these pieces are sort of visible and throws off color symmetry in a very minor way. Edited September 2, 2016 by Cmay91472 Quote
atomic80 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Bellevue, WA. that was only a quick guess. It's probably really more than 25 or so. They had piles of them behind the cash register even after 10 had already purchased them ahead of me. On another note...now I have two sets of these. Has anyone figured out how to combine the front and back yet? Quote

The rear is very different than the front in real life with its own unique features. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Or take the "simple" Route and build a mirror image of it. Quote
eve nightfall Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I have bought the castle in the VIP pre sale because I was afraid that it is sold out in Austria very quickly. But I have to wait till christmas to build it (it is my personal present) and I am really looking foreward to it! I don't think that there will come any other Disney princess related castles. This one is called "Cinderella" castle but I think that is not such a good "title" for it. It is THE Disney Castle showed in every Disney movie. Tinkerbell is the "fairy dust" that puts the magic into each movie and you can see her fly around the castle in the intro. I think it is a great cooperation with Disney and I am looking foreward to other new themes made by Lego but I think this Dimension is one of a kind thing. Quote

This one is called "Cinderella" castle but I think that is not such a good "title" for it. It is THE Disney Castle showed in every Disney movie. Kind of. We went over this a while back--the set is called "Cinderella's Castle" because it's a simplified version of the castle at Walt Disney World in Florida, which goes by that name. It's not the Disney castle because there is no the Disney castle--the one in the current movie logo is a hybrid design with elements of both Cinderella's Castle (Walt Disney World) and Sleeping Beauty Castle (Disneyland). Neither castle really resembles the one in the associated animated movie, and neither one is the best place in the theme park to meet its associated Princess--the Princesses are more commonly found at meet-and-greet spots elsewhere. The names are more symbolic than anything--labeling this as a magical fairy tale castle and the gateway to Fantasyland. Quote
Boromir Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Forgive me for nit picking, but it's actually "Cinderella Castle" not "Cinderella's Castle". Just thought that might help justify why there is no Cinderella in the set. Quote
Karalora Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Thank you for pointing that out, Boromir. I'm a stickler for correct names myself. Quote
x105Black Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Forgive me for nit picking, but it's actually "Cinderella Castle" not "Cinderella's Castle". Just thought that might help justify why there is no Cinderella in the set. I don't believe it helps in that matter at all. Cinderella in name, but no Cinderella. Just seems dumb to me. I really want the castle, but with only 5 minifigures (only 1 of which I'm interested in) it's been too hard to justify. Also, the shields are stickers, so that's another strike. Quote

You're paying $350 for a spectacular building experience and one of the best display pieces Lego has created this past year. Not for a dozen minifigures and an utterly forgettable building experience. If you want that, Lego offers Assault on Hoth and 60's Batcave for those who care about the number of minifigures or lack there of. If you REALLY want the castle like you say you do, then just buy the set and enjoy one of the best building experiences you'll have this year instead of worrying about number of minifigures or use of stickers. I mean seriously, I think the majority of AFOLs would gladly sacrifice more than half of the minifigures that come with Assault on Hoth or 60's Batcave if the sets themselves were worthy of a UCS style display piece instead of oversized playsets offering a dozen plus minifigures.
