Does anyone know how many variations of the official batman figs there actually are?

I've got 14 different ones

According to Brikipedia there are 27 variations not including micro figures and duplo figures. The list also doesn't mention the new Buccaneer Batman.

Jesus that's soon many. Don't think I'll be able to get them all

...Hoo boy.

This really depends on how you count a variation. For instance, would you consider the version from Arkham Asylum Breakout different from the one in Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase? The suits are identical, but the former has a wing piece and the latter has a cape. I personally don't consider them to really be different variants, but most other databases seem to. There are also a few different figures that only feature minor tweaks to the New 52 design - the Dimensions Batman has the older style cowl, the one in Black Manta Deep Sea Strike has the same scuba head as in the Penguin Face Off, and the one in Jokerland has dual-molded legs, but they're all pretty much that same New 52 suit.

Yes, I agree with you. I don't count the Arkham Asylum Breakout one different from the batman in the Two-Face Chase. I also don't count it if there are two completely identical batman figures with a different style cowl. To me, its the printing and colors of the figure that make it a different figure.

I've got all of the Lego Batman variations as well as a few pad printed customs and I think it's around the 40 mark. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of those custom which are pretty impossible to get hold of now.

I don't consider dual moulding over normal legs to be a variant or having a moulded cape with backpack over a fabric cape a variant either.

Whether someone considers the Lego Movie version to be a variant as it's got a different head to the regular version I'm not sure. It's a new piece but I don't think it creates enough of a 'variant'... same with the dimensions Batman being a New 52 torso with old cowl.

I also don't count microfigures although some Youtube people tend to include them in their collections of a character.

This needs updating now as there's quite a few new figures to go in there.

Brickvault has a video of all the batman variants up to 2015, so not counting the BvS ones or the Adam West one, and they had 28, iirc. It's a pretty cool video, check it out.

I hope we can also get a ton of iron man/war machine figs

I'd love to have that Batman Beyond figure. I, and others, noticed that the Sinsetro Batman figure there has the wrong (blue lantern) symbol. I, and others, made a new version of that one using the official Sinestro figure in combination with a Batman figure. I made a variant of the regular/dark blue Batman with the grey torso and legs by swapping out the blue parts for black ones, to make it look like the suit from the Batman Animated Series. Now all that one needs is black boots. Where did the figure in the front row on the left side come from, and what batsuit is that based on?

The Yellow Lantern has since been updated with the Lego torso... That is a pad printed custom that was released before Lego did theirs. The front row far left figure is a pad printed custom replica of an early prototype Batman that was part of a display for the early Batman releases. I used to have the reference pic for it but not anymore unfortunately.

Is it supposed to be like the James Gordon Batman?

No... the figure's design dates back to around 2006 from the first Batman line. Jim has only been Batman since last year so unless someone knew something rather specific back then I think the resemblance is just coincidental.

Me too! Iron Man/War Machine has become my minifig obsession. I have nearly every one that's out. The only Iron man I'm missing is the Toy Fair exclusive, and I'll never have that one. I have all War Machine variants and the Iron patriot.
