Dragonfire Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 In the farthest corner of Nocturnus, in a desolate, barren clump of rocks, a wooden tower stretched just over the horizon, visible to all near and far, but seemingly impassable. Two Drow soldiers stood guard at the base of this structure - well, not exactly stood guard! They lay slumped against the rocks, bottles clutched in their hands, drunken and tired. When Berelan Gryffen, lord of the Mitgardian county of Stormhold, opened his eyes, he didn't know where he was. His last memory was of a far-away Avalonian outpost, of a fierce battle between the Drow and the local soldiers. Now he was lying on a bare, earthy floor, his clothes in tatters and chains around his hands. Weakly, he struggled into a sitting position... and then he realised he wasn't alone in the cell... A Tigris, by the looks of it - part human, part feline in appearance, with a mane of black hair and its teeth bared in a grimace. As Berelan raised his head, the creature's eyes narrowed, "So you're finally awake. Been waiting two weeks for this..." Berelan managed to gasp, "I mean you no harm..." but was met with a harsh, gravelly laugh from the Tigris, "I'm not going to hurt you, ekshalar. You'd better thank me, because I could've escaped two weeks ago, when I broke the clasp on my chains. But I couldn't leave you here- those vhhskarn would have made you suffer for my escape. Who are you, and where are you from?" Somewhat relieved but still wary, Berelan replied, "I'm from Mitgardia... my name's Berelan. You?" Without replying, the Tigris moved over to Berelan's chains and yanked them out of the wall with a contemptuously little amount of force, "Them Black Spire vhhskarn don't know what they're in for. I'll bet they've never even seen a Tigris before. Name's Tskerr, by the way. I'm with the Nocturnus Resistance. Now let's get a move on - I'm sick of this place!" Drunkenly, one of the Drow guards rose to check on the prisoners. They'd been paid a lot by a cloaked stranger calling himself Xaris to do this, and they'd spent the money on fine Nocturnian liquor. This turned out to be his undoing. As the guard stumbled along the path, he noticed a blurry, reddish-brown shape leaping from rock to rock, a length of chains swinging from its hand... Tskerr suddenly leapt at the guard, crushing him to the ground with brute strength. Berelan, emerging from behind a rock, saw the second guard draw his sword and advance on the oblivious Tigris... ...so he grabbed a conveniently nearby scorpion and threw it at the Drow! Pleased with their handiwork, the two escapees proceeded to don the guards' clothes, passing as Black Spire enforcers to all who met them. Time was of the essence - the resistance was growing and soon things would come to a brutal and bloody head.... [sorry for the lengthy story; C&C welcome!] Quote

Thanks There might not be any more before the next challenge starts, as I'll be mainly focusing on my other characters amassing an army to fight in Nocturnus and save Berelan (via AoM builds). Quote
