Posted March 14, 20168 yr I just built the Mercedes Arocs (set 42043) and it seems that the crane drops hard on the table or truck bed when I set the switches to lower it. Is this the expected behavior, or did I do something wrong in my assembly? If it is the expected behavior, are there any mods with instructions on how to remedy it? I'm wondering if swapping out the lift pneumatics for linear actuators might be viable? Also, if there are any other mods with instructions for the set I'd be very interested in those as well. Thanks so much for the help
March 14, 20168 yr This is normal operation for pneumatics. If you want the crane to lower more slowly, don't open the valve all the way.
March 14, 20168 yr Yes, there is quite a bit of weight on the arm and gravity will take its toll on it when you open the valve. 'Feather' the valve to slow it down.
March 15, 20168 yr It all indeed has to do with pneumatics and gravity! 'Feather' the valve to slow it down. Exactly, that is what accurate! It is about control, that enable "soft landing" of the crane arm...
March 28, 20168 yr Just discovered this "problem" in my Arocs... It sucks! :( Takes away a lot of fun of using the crane. Edited March 28, 20168 yr by Vodnik
May 24, 20204 yr Why does it take away any fun? If you do it right, there's no falling! On 3/28/2016 at 3:42 PM, Vodnik said: Just discovered this "problem" in my Arocs... It sucks! :( Takes away a lot of fun of using the crane. Edited May 24, 20204 yr by Goldeneyeonline Typo
