Governor Mister Phes Posted April 23, 2005 Governor Posted April 23, 2005 I've had to speak with an Australian accent for entire days at a time. That must be so tough for you... I've had to speak with one just about every time I say something... I just don't know how I cope... Quote
Dreamweb Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I don't think terrorists are something Lego would REALLY release. Lego is for kids after all. About new lines - I agree with many users that an ancient Greek/Roman theme is an excellent idea, it should combine actual sceneries from ancient times with mythology - with gods, monsters and so on . As a fan of ships I especially vote for Jason and the Argonauts - an ancient big ship, the Argo, would be great! A friend of mine once had a good idea (when he was still a Lego fan - long ago). He suggested a line with spies, secret agents and stuff like that - suitcases with hidden bombs/ladders/helicopters/toothbrushes, cars that turn into planes, and other James Bond kind of toys, and of course beautiful women who seduce our main hero. And one or few main villains. Quote
Jipay Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 After star wars is gone, we will need a good space theme Unfortunatly, it's unlikely happening now. I was praying hard for lego to stop making star wars sets and they will continue... Now space lego will only be based on lucasfilm movies, far away from kids own's imagination. :'( Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Not necessarily (unless its contractual in the licence), I mean TLC had Life on Mars and Space port at the same time as SW !! So who knows !! Quote
Jipay Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Well space was left over for many year now :'( (what about my pm ?) Quote
Jipay Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 well I prefered futurons, but anyway, space was better Quote
MattZitron Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Someone put a Crimson Skies style Alpha Team. Thats my ideal set. Quote
Cutty Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Someone would probably be me in this case ;) , but anyway... I'd like to see ancient world themes, Greeks vs. Persia, Romans vs. Karthago... Or if we don't get it that way: Greek mythology! Herakles, Theseus, Perseus, Achilles vs. Hektor, the Gigantomachy (Olympians vs. Titans)....aaaah my heart throbs for these *wub* *wub* *wub* So TLC!! Give us these sets, or I personally will send the minifig-terrorists from two pages before on your ABSses ;) !!! See you on the boards, Cutty Quote
Bricks0937 Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 I'd like to see Cavemen. Have them use some dino's as allies like the tritops and long necks and fight the bad ones like t-rex and raptors. they could create a club as a weapon. just an idea that im hoping for. Quote
KimT Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I'll definately go for a roman/greek theme since my dream for a viking theme has been fulfilled. Go TLC give us those phalanx armies and roman legionaires. KimT Quote
mutley777 Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 what about a spy theme. james bond style loads of cool car's and gagets and a super villan hell bent on taking over the world! Quote
Beagle Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Just thinking aloud here.... might be kind of neat to have some variations on the "town" theme...like "Future Town" or "Retro Town." Future Town could be kind of a combination of Town and Space.... think hovercars, transport tubes, minifigs dressed in futuristic clothing, etc. Maybe with neat things like bio-dome-type nature preserves, or a futuristic Chinatown, or even a museum containing normal, "modern" town pieces. Retro Town could be more 1920's-esque, lots of industrial-revolution-era factories and buildings. It would be cool to have Lego Model-T's, mixed with horse-drawn carriages and minifigs in turn-of-the-century garb. However, I realize this would NEVER sell, especially in the U.S. (History? Huh?) I'm not as fond of themes that have actual "characters" and pre-determined storylines. It seems to somewhat diminish the imagination factor that got most of us into lego in the first place. Quote
Dreamweb Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Future towns, but not from too distant future, rather something like the one in "Back to the Future Part II" - hovercars would be great!!! Quote
Beagle Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Yeah, I was thinking not too distant future.... so you'd still have recognizable buildings and whatnot. Like you said, kinda similar to Back to the Future 2, or maybe Futurama. Not Jetsons, that's just straight-up Space and not as fun. Quote
L'Exocet Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Greetings from a newbie! I hope and wait for a revival of Town, definately. I still find it hard to except all those "ready-made heroic saga"-themes TLC has lately created (except for Johnny Thunder's loose storyline which fits my personal "Lego mythology" nicely :) ). For me, the original and on-going appeal of the bricks and figs have been the freedom of creating and imagining you're own tales, and this is what I'd like to pass on to my own kids also (and maybe build the Legoland City that I've always dreamed of along the way...). I was thrilled when they came up with the new Creator House set this year, although in the end it was a slight disappointment - more a minifig-scale model of the house then a house for minifigs. In fact, I'd like too see Town and Trains somehow combined (like they were, unleast loosely, "back in the good ol' days"), kind of like "The Train Town", with rolling stock, stations, depots, cargo and logistic facilities etc., but also houses, shops, town hall, town square (1592 is my all-time favorite set), maybe even whole street sets like 6390/10041 or 1589 (sorry, dropping numbers there...), and of course, something I've always hoped to see, a church. Police, Fire Department and Hospital would be there too, of course. To expand it, there could be a monorail, cabs, busses and coaches, airport, and of course, the harbour... And all this would add up to a Lego Model Railway World. *Sigh*Yeah, as if it could ever happen... I also love Beagles idea about the retro town theme, 1920's, or even end of the 19th century. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Welcome into our friendly little community L'Exocet ;) (always great to have a member whose username is a fantastic French missile :D ) I love this idea of a "prohibition" and Mafia theme :oD The Untouchables need to take back Las Vegas and eliminate Capone and his "familly" !!!! Sounds great !! You would have Capone's car, an illegal distillery, bars, casinos, police station... Another theme I would like is a sort of "Xfiles / Area 51". You would have a secret military (guards, trucks) base lost in New Mexico, a secret laboratory holding brand new aliens Mfs (translucid glow in the dark), Transport of an alien in a common truck, hangar holding a UFO, and a team of MFs trying to discover the secret !!!! You could also have infiltration of the base with Mfs dressed all in black !!! Quote
Jipay Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 true but both ideas are based on weapons *wacko* Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 True Jipay, but all the best themes would have weapons: blades, swords, fire arms... That is something I never understand in TLC's policy: guns are bad (what kind of a police is that without any guns !!!) (and I will not enter into the US Dino Line...) BUT its ok to have hoards of ravaging vikings with swords, catapults (yeahhhhhhhhh, ironic me ??)... ready to pillage, torture... Oh well, I have a less weapons theme: deep sea treasure hunters: it would be like a much better version of the Divers theme. Some treasure hunters would chase all the oceans in search of old galleons, sunken history ships, underwater caves... The only weapons would be knives and undersea guns for defense only (sharks are always there hehe) !!!! The only non weapons themes at all would paradisia 2, space exploration and city !!! Bottom line, Lego needs to produce weapons (blades and guns) for interesting themes. Quote
L'Exocet Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Another theme I would like is a sort of "Xfiles / Area 51". Wow, I just just love that idea! All the elements of a great theme just... well, click together in that - it's fan-didly-tastic! :) . Or almost - forget the guns ("X-Files" has very little gunfights anyway...), it should be about secrets, suspence and science :| . Additional sets could include same skywatchers camped by the electric fence, and of course the secret experimental spyplane (a resurrection of that "blackbird" kind of plane in 6582: Daredevil Flight Squad) that would "give a plausible explanation for the lights in the sky" ;) Quote
Khorne Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 GO BEAGLES! I love your idea, but I love the even older times, like the French Revolution and the Victorian Age. Think of a theme like Vikings, where the creatures and monsters are based of stories and legends, BUT in an Victorian Age setting, we could get Dracula, Frankenstein (I never got those figs from the studios line :'( ), a werewolf, the Headless Rider and a team of Demon Hunters. Sets could have Victorian buildings as background and all sort of that stuff. Imagine: Jonathan Thunder (forefather of Johny ;) ). I have actually created that guy and his buddy Frank Morris, Samuel Sinister and Winston Wilkinsons. They look cool, but I can't post pics :( . Quote
KimT Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 That is something I never understand in TLC's policy: guns are bad (what kind of a police is that without any guns !!!) I don't think it's TLC policy anymore - they stick with it to some point, but it seems they have changed their mind over the years = Western introduced handguns and rifles, Vikings and Dino Attacks which has weapons in the US version. Guess they couldn't keep up with the rivaling companies making war bricks.... KimT NB I hope I got this quoting stuff working right - had a hard time trying to figure how to qoute.... |-/ Quote
