I'd noticed that too. Of the two main 'visions of the future' Kingdom Come and DKR, Supes doesn't come off too well in either. DKR presents himas a naive pawn of the corrupt establishment, while Kingdom Come portrays him as a pacifist who's just given up.

As biased as I am to The Dark Knight, I still find this a little annoying. I thought the idea of Supes being a pawn of the government was a good idea, but even though we all know that Bruce's life requires much more will and determination, I still think Supes can teach him a lesson now and again.

The trouble with leaving it is that I so desparately want to get it finished. The glider is fairly accuate to the comic inspiration, but the handles are different. The Bat-armour is entirely brick-built, and while it doesn't look that bulky, it still looks pretty good.

I know what you mean, I hate leaving unfinished things, er, unfinished. The glider sounds good, but I was surprised about the armour being brickbuilt. So its that kind of armour >:-)

Can't wait to see it then.

I have that problem too. I so desparately want to be able to draw well, because I enjoy it, but I just can't. With the possible exception of minifigs, though. It doesn't help that my outlining pen seems to have run out, so I'm going to have to find another (similar) one. :-|

I enjoy drawing too, though I think I am pretty awful at it with a few exceptions. Minifigs are fun, and harder than I though they would be. When I was on holiday I had to work with a dysfunctional pencil sharpener, so that might be my excuse for several mistakes :-$

And there's the one from Hush where Supes is under Ivy's control (again :-| ). Oh, and there's a minor argument in Death In The Family, when Bats punches Supes.

I now realise that my list was distinctly inadequate...

:-D , I think everyone just wants a peice of the comic book know-it-all now :-D

In a Death in a Family, you are referring to the part where Superman won't allow Batman to go after the Joker, yes? Sorry, I haven't read that story in a long time, I never really did like it to be honest, I always thought the Joker could do much more interesting things than simply bash Robin to death. But thats me ranting again so I'll move on....

I agree. The more Batsuit designs, the merrier. Actually, you've just reminded me of another character I'd like to see. I know we'll never get him, but... Batzarro! I mean, he's like Bizarro (my favourite charcter in comics, as long as he's the modern Bizarro #1) and he's like Batman. >:-)

Yes, Batsuits are a must, many complain that we only got one new fig (the awesome Bane) in the 2007 line, but I easily count Blue Bats as another, I love that suit, and I'll do the same with this line, which might contain two new batsuits if we are lucky.

And once again your love of Batzarro comes up, I must admit he is thoroughly entertaining, though what the obsession is with superman villain counterparts is about I have no idea, surely Batmite was taking it too far.

Still, anyguy who has his brain wired completely backwards and dresses not unlike the Dark Knight is a win in my books. As for Bizarro, he's always good.

Oh, and welcome to all the new members who've strayed to this thread, perhaps drawn by the light that is the Batsignal.

I'll second that too, excluding the bat-pun, which Brainbox seems to have a bit of talent in.

Does anyone know these prices in AUS? I have no idea how to convert, or what country this money is in anyway :-$

Using xe.com (a reliable currency converter) and assuming the prices are in USD, then it's;

Batbuggy, Mr freeze, 7884, approximately $15

Robin's scuba yet, Penguin, 7885, app. $29

Batcycle, Harley Quin, 7886, app. $42

Tumbler, Joker, 7887, app. $68

Thanks! *sweet* Er, I mean, Stalking you! *skull*

The tumbler 70 dollars? Thats way too expensive, either this prelim pic doesn't show the whole set (please let it be a bit with Gordon! :'-) ) or the price is wrong. I honestly don't think this set could possibly be that much.

That said, the Penguin set is a reasonable price.

Don't worry, ToyWiz.com always overcharge on LEGO.

Oh, okay, thanks :-)

I was beginning to think I wouldn't be ableto get all my 08 stuff, I could barely afford the overpriced Battank last year.

sorry but i think that is custom for teh following reasons:

1) it has stickers all over it (although this could be for prelim).

2) the popsicle? is harry potter, and i dont think TLC would bring it back (just a thought).

3) the pistol is in brown not rown.

just what i think

That is a custom, an excellent one at that. I remember seeing this a while ago. The headpeice is different to the released one too. Thanks for posting it though.

Can't wait to see it then.

Sadly, a minifig doesn't actually fit into it, but I just couldn't work out a good way of doing that. But it's a little taller than a minfig, and a little bit wider due to the arms, which kind of makes up for it.

:-D , I think everyone just wants a peice of the comic book know-it-all now :-D

:-D I redeemed myself yesterday though by reeling off all the information I had on Two-Face, Iron Man's origin, The Abomination (from The Hulk), traditional Batcycles, the Metal Men and the Joker while my friend and I were reading a list of this year's film releases in Empire yesterday.

Sorry, I haven't read that story in a long time, I never really did like it to be honest, I always thought the Joker could do much more interesting things than simply bash Robin to death.

I've chosen to interpret 'interesting' as 'more,' seeing as how I never liked Jason Todd. And then they had to go and bring him back from the dead. Still, he's a better character now as the Red Hood than he ever was as Robin.

And yes, that was the minor tussle I meant.

And once again your love of Batzarro comes up, I must admit he is thoroughly entertaining, though what the obsession is with superman villain counterparts is about I have no idea, surely Batmite was taking it too far.

Batmite? Oh no, we don't mention him... still, his inclusion in Superman/Batman: Vengeance was okay. I just always thought he was a bit, well, you know...

That is a custom, an excellent one at that. I remember seeing this a while ago.

Here are the rest of his DC customs.

This might interest you, Batbrick. When I was reading Empire yesterday, or more specifically the article on TDK, it mentioned that Harvey Dent would "meet his fate." So... we're getting Two-Face in TDK!

Firstly, welcome back Brainbox :-)

That doesn't mind me, as long as it looks like he could fit into it, and works pretty well, I'd call it success.

Well you've certainly got me beat :-D . I like the Abomination though, I hope this years Incredible Hulk does him justice. I must say you aren't helping this stereotyping thing much, seeing as I too collect Empire magazine, albeit, I get it much sooner :-P I haven't redeemed myself at all, not many people will go near me if they think I'm gong to go all "comic book geek mode" on them.

Good point, as you know, I'm a fan of the DC Animated Universe. I didn't like Batman beyond much, but I thought the feature film featuring the Joker had a great evil deed for him to do that didn't just involve killing someone. Namely, the part where he brainwashes Robin through weeks of torture intp becoming his own "son", J.J. The ultimate joke on Batman really.

And he is a better character now, despite the contrived "bring 'em back from the dead!" plot line.

Batmite? Oh no, we don't mention him... still, his inclusion in Superman/Batman: Vengeance was okay. I just always thought he was a bit, well, you know...

Yes, we shall mention him no longer, though I do like Mr. Mxyzptlk, he's always funny.

Here are the rest of his DC customs.

Thanks for that, he has some great customs in there, though I can't figure out why everyone is so bent on giving Jervis Tetch such enormous hats, even for him.

Thanks, your only about two weeks late X-D . Australian magazine, I get it early. Still, thanks for bringing that up, I never have anyone to talk about that with. Yes, it states that he would "follow his fall" (refering to previous D.A) and that he would be the "White Knight" of the city, which makes me excited to no end.

Speaking of everyone's favourite District Attorney, have you read Nolan's statement about Harv being the backbone of the film's plot. You can see it on EmpireOnline.net if you haven't. I am loving that news, as Nolan refers to the Joker as "having no character arc, he's a force of nature tearing through the film", which is a great way to approach the Joker in my humble opinion. That way, Joker serves as a great plot device to move the story forward, and thus all character focus will be on Harv and bruce while all action and crazy stuff will be with the Joker.

And Two-Face is my absolute favourite Bat-Villain, so I can't wait! :'-)

Too bad I embarrassingly don't have The Long Halloween or Dark Victory, I going to get TLH for my upcoming birthday though so I'm happy. Read them of course, but I would love that hardcover edition....

As for the sets, which we almost never talk about ( :-D ), toyfair is slated to show them early February, so I finally get to see if the Commissioner is in. Do you know if they show the final version or just prelims too?

Either way, can't wait.

Temple Escape was supposed to be a 50 set, but they kicked up to 60$!!!

So, yeah, maybe if the set includes some kind of ice-cream parlour al Batman & Robin (sorry for setting that film as an example, but Mr. Freeze's hideout would be pretty cool if it got Lego-ified) it might cost 70 but until thats confirmed, I'd set the price at about 50, just like the batwing or the Battank. *y*

Firstly, welcome back Brainbox :-)

Thanks mate, although the fact that it's taken me 2 days to say it is a testament to the fact.

Well you've certainly got me beat :-D . I like the Abomination though, I hope this years Incredible Hulk does him justice. :-D Well, he actually asked about Iron Man, how he came to take up the suit, etc. But otherwise, guilty as charged.

But... collect Empire? Oh no, I don't need to do that. Our college library gets it in on subscription, as it could be useful for the film/media students. My friend and I have both got a three-and-a-half hour break on Thursday afternoons, and there's not much point going home, so we do our maths homework, and read the new Empire whenever it's there. It's cheaper by far than buying it! ;-)

And he is a better character now, despite the contrived "bring 'em back from the dead!" plot line.

Well, it was due to changes in the structure of the Multiverse caused by Superboy-Prime and Earth-1 Superman (Kal-L) punching at the fabric of reality this time, so I'll let them off on originality.

Yes, we shall mention him no longer, though I do like Mr. Mxyzptlk, he's always funny.

Oh yeah, course, Mxy's great.

Speaking of everyone's favourite District Attorney, have you read Nolan's statement about Harv being the backbone of the film's plot. You can see it on EmpireOnline.net if you haven't.

Yeah, I read that somewhere. It's quite a nice interpretation, I think. And it sets up the possibility of a third film, focusing more on Two-Face.

Too bad I embarrassingly don't have The Long Halloween or Dark Victory, I going to get TLH for my upcoming birthday though so I'm happy. Read them of course, but I would love that hardcover edition....

I haven't even read them, but that's mainly due to not having been able to find them rather than not wanting to. But I'm planning on going to Manchester with my friends in a few weeks, so hopefully Forbidden Planet will have them in stock.

As for the sets, which we almost never talk about ( :-D ), toyfair is slated to show them early February, so I finally get to see if the Commissioner is in. Do you know if they show the final version or just prelims too?

Either way, can't wait.

And back to Lego (sorry, personal joke). Do we know for sure if we're going to see them, or is that just a supposition? I think they tend to show whatever they've got. If it's preliminary, they'll show that, if it's finished or near-finished, that's what we'll see.

I so desperately hope we get Gordon. I mean, some of the other missing characters are somewhat excuseable, but not Gordon.

Beat again. Still, its a great magazine, and I only collect the issues that contain movies I am interested in. But atleast I get it first X-D

Yes but changes of structure in the Multiverse was never that original either. Personally, I don't care if continuity is broken for the sake of a good Batman story, why they go to such great lengths to back things up I'll never know. And Myx is great like you say, can never get tired of him.

Yeah, I read that somewhere. It's quite a nice interpretation, I think. And it sets up the possibility of a third film, focusing more on Two-Face.

Two-Face, my favourite Bat-villain, two times better than the Joker *wub*

Today I am going to see I Am Legend in Imax, so I hope to see the prologue in full screen. I won't get my hopes up though, as I've heard it was selected theatres only. Still, seems like Nolan is doing a great job at juggling the characters, I still hope scarecrow gets a good role, however small. I just wonder what the trhird film could be about. I know, we haven't even seen TDK yet, but Two-Face is generally a smaller, more personal villain than The Joker, in that he doesn't plan to blow up Gotham or anything. Either the third film will have smaller, more personal stakes as Harvey Dent turns vicious vigilante, or a new villain is introduced as well (Catwoman? Talia? Bane?)

I haven't even read them, but that's mainly due to not having been able to find them rather than not wanting to. But I'm planning on going to Manchester with my friends in a few weeks, so hopefully Forbidden Planet will have them in stock.

You'll love them. Though I haven't read them in a loooong time. Which is good, there'll be a few surprises when I read them again.

And back to Lego (sorry, personal joke). Do we know for sure if we're going to see them, or is that just a supposition? I think they tend to show whatever they've got. If it's preliminary, they'll show that, if it's finished or near-finished, that's what we'll see.

I don't care if it is preliminary, I just want to see them!

I still have a small trace of hope for newer characters and a fedora Joker, seeing some of the prelims versus final versions of the other 08 sets. Though I think there HAS to be atleast one more new character, I don't think TLC would just give us a single new one.

I so desperately hope we get Gordon. I mean, some of the other missing characters are somewhat excuseable, but not Gordon.

I agree, Gordon is a must, and if Lego does not make him then that is just plain unforgivable.

I've also been looking at the prelim pics a bit more, and I must say I've warmed up to the Scuba Jet set. Its great to have another vehicle for Robin, and this one is rather cool. It has green engines which is great, and seems like a nice compact design, which is good because I really didn't want a giant Robin vehicle.

I also think the angle of the pic exaggerates the peice at the front of Penguin's sub. I think it will be a lot better proportioned in real life than in this pic. Plus its another cool Penguin vehicle, and we get a lot more little penguins which is great.

I just cannot read 20 pages now, so I simply have to ask, and maybe this has been asked before:

Will we ever get a Poison Ivy minifig in a normal set, instead of the Arkham exclusive?

I'm hoping that Poison Ivy get her own set too. I have no problem in a character being in more than one set, infact, I welcome it. I want to see another Bane set, Poison Ivy set with a plant and a Two-Face set so I can get a second henchman.

Riddler? He's pretty iconic.

I agree. While it's not a classic set, it's certainyl quite promising. It's a cheap(er) way of getting both Robin and the Penguin, it's another vehicle for Robin to go with hie speedboat/jetski, and it's got more of those fantastically cute penguins. So it's another sub for Pengy. So what? It looks cool, and it hearkens back to the uber-camp 60s series/movie, where he had... a submarine.

"Did he leave a name?"

"Er... a Mr P.N.Guinn."

Fantastic!

I have no problem in a character being in more than one set, infact, I welcome it.

Because they can be used in vigs, mini-vigs, display MOCs (like Arkham or the Batcave), or perhaps as Batcave trophys. If not, they're cool parts. Question mark t-shirt, anyone?

Me too, Bane is a great and useful minifig, I don't want to spend the rest of my life paranoid that I'll lose him! :-D

Oh, come on. Everyone knows t's so that people like me don't go "but back in #whatever..."

:-D , good point, and for some strange reason I can imagine you doing exactly that.....a lot......

Riddler? He's pretty iconic.

I was thinking the Riddler, but as much as I love him, I don't see any personal conflict or threat he could pose. Sure, if he was a recurring villain he could go all Hush on Bats and figure out his identity and whatnot, but I think Catwoman or Talia would be good to provide a more personal conflict, and, er, good looks.

I don't really want Riddler anyway, because they would probably make him into a Saw type villain.

Fantastic!

Can't forget the 60's. I love that TLC has included so many different takes on the characters. And as you say, a great way of getting those unbelievably adorable penguins. Plus, with Penguin's subs, I can make a small fleet, wone of them manned by the penguins!

Plus another Penguin and Robin is fine by me, that'll give me three of each (I have the Robin Magnet Set) which means they will go into the minifig box, which is great because I love Robin's hair, and Penguin's torso.

Because they can be used in vigs, mini-vigs, display MOCs (like Arkham or the Batcave), or perhaps as Batcave trophys. If not, they're cool parts. Question mark t-shirt, anyone?

Exactly! Not to mention a Poison Ivy set would be the perfect way to get a small, non-vehicle (atleast for the villain) set. TLC loves action, so a big, brickbuilt, man eating plant of sorts would be great, it could even be in a greenhouse but thats me just dreaming.

So I'll be happy if we see another Bane, Killer Croc, Two-Face or Poison Ivy set.

Batbrick Away! >:-)

I still wish we got some more new characters like R'as Al Gul and Batgirl. One of the biggest incentives for buying sets is picking up the minifigs. I love the Batman line, but I think that a few more new figs (beyond Harley Quinn and Gordon) would be nice.

And on a sad note, I wonder how TDK sequel is going to fare with the death of Heath Ledger. I was completely stunned when I heard about his passing.

Oh I agree, but every re-release is a re-release over and done I say. And you never know, there may still be another new character lurking in these set, I hope. Right now, Gordon is main priority, he better get made or I'll complain, a lot. X-D

Yes, I hope the film is dedicated to him, and that the TDK script doesn't leave a necessity for the character to return.

There is little doubt that the film will be dedicated to Heath, i have this feeling that the Joker will survive the film. Which of course means should they wish to do another film with the joker then they will have to replace Heath.
