Brainbox Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 The only on i'm gonna get is the bat go kart one, I reckon it's pretty cool and a cheap way to get Mr Freeze. Wel, exactly. It's cheap, neat and strangely cool. So are these sets out in June? I think so. They're out in the Summer assortment, so whenever that comes out near you these will. The game's out in September though, I think. Good idea actually, I think I might try the bag too, mine are in clear plastic containers I bought from Chickenfeed (super cheap store). I saved a load (and I mean a load) of the polybags from sets, to use as parts storage. Mostly, they're used for storing pieces that I only have a few of, but are too useful and/or interesting to put away elsewhere. I've got a load all stored in a plastic tub. They're good for storing parts for WIPs as well. That's fine really, though rather annoying for me, I thought I had that in mind as an original Lego model. (actually, I'd love to see it as a released Lego set..) That's exactly what I was thinking. Oh well, I'll have to trawl through the internet looking for some unique Bat-items instead. Bat-umbrella stand anyone? Nah, give me old fashioned Bond cars any day, invisible was just too far for my liking, as was the impossibly sharp shooting machine guns. Yeah, perhaps. But it's an Aston Martin versus a Jaguar. Mmm, cool... Whoa, that's a lot of photos. I still look forward to seeing some though, atleast you have them on the computer now right? Yeah, they're all on my laptop, and I'm up to the Bat-MOC stuff (save one thing, which I couldn't be bothered going through) now. I'll get it up once I've got my wireless sorted. My parents are dithering over who's paying for it, and what exactly we need to buy. I'm also (Batman Lego related) thinking of making a Tumbler like Wetwire's one (due credit given of course) with those instructions he kindly gave us. It was a very cool design, I agree. I've got a part-WIP micro Tumbler going in Bat-MOC, that I quite like, but I think there may be a way of improving... I just don't know what that is though, so I'll see what people say. Quote

Batbrick Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 (edited) Wel, exactly. It's cheap, neat and strangely cool. "Cool" eh? I'll definitely use some for mf parts too, they can be so hard to find sometimes... That's exactly what I was thinking. Oh well, I'll have to trawl through the internet looking for some unique Bat-items instead. Bat-umbrella stand anyone? , I guess we'll agree on a truce then and say that Batfans think alike huh? Personally though, I'll make as many Batvehicles as I can. I don't know if you've seen it yet but I made my own Batdragster, based off the more "bullet" like Batmobiles evident in the comics (older stuff mainly, some of it silver age). Still, when thinking about it, TLC has really only scratched the surface for what they could do as sets. Even things that seem outlandish like the Whirlybat have been covered similarly. The Batcopter for instance, when that was announced everyone rolled their eyes, but it was a fantastic model with great modding potential and a good reason for being. Yeah, perhaps. But it's an Aston Martin versus a Jaguar. Mmm, cool... Admittingly....yes. But I'll still say Goldfinger was by far the best, lines like this one just can't be beat: "You expect me to talk?" "No Mr.Bond, I expect you to die!" Yeah, they're all on my laptop, and I'm up to the Bat-MOC stuff (save one thing, which I couldn't be bothered going through) now. I'll get it up once I've got my wireless sorted. My parents are dithering over who's paying for it, and what exactly we need to buy. Ah, of course. Damn, I was going to make a minitumbler. Is that the one in your brickshelf, the larger-than-normal-miniscale scale one? I guess I'll put dibs on a mini DKR Batmobile then! I've got a nice idea for the treads too... Nice to see you going back on your reservations over Batman: Gotham Knight too, I was worried there for a sec. This year is getting more expensive, especially now since I've committed to buying atleast one of the new factory space sets. Lucky I have a job then, or I'd never be able to get it all... Batbrick Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Yeah, but at least it gives me time to complete the Indy game before starting on this one. On no! And we know they're strong enough not to break under filling with pieces. Well, not usually. Yes, I really need bags especially after today. I went to Chickenfeed and there was not a single good storage container bar a 5-pack for 2 dollars for tiny ones. I bought those to store things that don't require a lot of space like 1x1 non brick pieces an such. Good thing really to have not enough storage though, because it shows you have good stock. Batbrick Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Oh so will I. It's not good. No it isn't. I think it's more likely to be Bane, seeing as how we already have him as a fig, and they'll want to include all the characters we have figs for. But hopefully we'll see Ras, perhaps in a sub-plot or something. Most likely. Though I'd prefer Ra's, imagine Lego Ra's spitting out "Detective". Which really brings me to next years figs, I really hope the line continues so we can get Gordon and Ra's and whatnot. In the meantime, I found a great head for Ra's, the main reason I'm buying the Speed Racer set which it comes in: The one on the left obviously, I think it's perfect. Well, exactly. I've just blown most of my money on a laptop, and now I've got to get the Bat-sets, Agents sets, Castle sets and a few others, as well as several graphic novels (Countdown, Countdown tie-ins, Final Crisis, Dark Victory), BTAS, Gotham Knight, cinema tickets for all the films I want to go and see, 2 Lego games, then on top of that there's travel costs, food, etc. It is isn't it? I love browsing through the awful comic covers and superman being, well, a dick How about these two? That second one made me burst out laughing when I first came across it. Though I'd prefer Ra's, imagine Lego Ra's spitting out "Detective". Which really brings me to next years figs, I really hope the line continues so we can get Gordon and Ra's and whatnot. In the meantime, I found a great head for Ra's, the main reason I'm buying the Speed Racer set which it comes in: Ah, well, the characters didn't actually speak in LSW, they just made weird noises. I really want more figs next year, and I'm sure we'll get some. I mean, the fact that we're getting the game implies that the line is somewhat popular. It would be a reasonable assumption then that we'll at least get new sets next year. As for the face, I like it. Really , Ra's should have a moustache but since we need a fleshie, that'll suffice. I think I may have found another use for the Snake Oiler head, btw. Matches Malone. Now, I don't own the set yet, so don't steal my idea I can't wait to get her..... Me neither mate, me neither. As for me, well, apart from lego, I've got BTAS volumes 3 and 4, Batman and Mr.Freeze: Subzero, Lego Batman: The Videogame, Lego Indy: The Videogame, Gotham Knight, graphic novels and a heap more. What movies are you planning to see? How about these two? That second one made me burst out laughing when I first came across it. I love this one, had me in stitches. The first thing I did when I opened that Speed Racer set (even before building the set) was to steal the Snake Oiler head and make a Matches Malone fig. Here's how I made mine: - Snake Oiler head - Standard male hairpiece in black - Legs and hip assembly in black - Dark green Professor Lupin torso from the HP theme The only problem with the Prof. Lupin torso is that it has a threadbare look. Malone wears cheap suits, not shabby ones. I eventually plan on removing the printed rips and two large buttons and then it should be close to perfect (perfect would be if it had a black checkerboard pattern on it). Quote
Brainbox Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Yes! You are getting Dark Victory and Gotham Knight! Dark Victory definately, Gotham Knight probably. But I don't think BTAS 3 and 4 are out here yet. Still, doesn't matter, I've not got 1 or 2 yet. What movies are you planning to see? TDK, Iron Man, Speed Racer, The Incredible Hulk and Indy 4. There may well be others, but these are definates. I know it's not many, but at £6 a time that's at least £30 I have to factor in. Well, in a lot of stories Ra's doesn't actually have a moustache, so I'd say it's fairly great. Fair enough on the head use then (pity I won't be buying the set). And you can feel free to use my idea. I woin't be able to try it out for a while anyway, as I'll likely not be getting the set till next month. Unfortunately. LOL. Seems Bat-fans think alike. Ooh... creepy. Quote

I really like the head though, the wrinkle under the eyeballs are a great blend of the BTAS black pits and the normal comics look. I don't have a green cape unfortunately so I'll have to order one. Thanks too, though seeing as TLC doesn't release many suit torsos, I'll be hard pressed to find a good torso for him.. Ooh... creepy. Its certainly getting that way... BB Away! Quote

Yeah, good point actually. Either way, I think you'll like them, unlike the new The Batman show the creators are huge comic geeks (and writers: Paul Dini), so you see lots of great references like all the Batcave stuff, adapted stories, more 40's detective stories and such. Have you seen much of it? Oh, Quantum of Solace, of course. And Harry Potter 6, and maybe Wall-E. Make that £48 . , yes, despite the odd title I really look forward to Quantum of Solace, and Wall E is a must (see it!) Not that interested in Harry Potter, I found the movies harder to care for than the books, which is no easy feat for me seeing as it was riddled with so many annoying devices. No offense btw, I just don't like them, that's fine if you do. Indeed, I may struggle on that front too. Hmm... Yes, something TLC needs to work on, more suits.... But since my birthday is on the 29th I'll have a lot more cash to spend, I think I'll be able to scoop up the entire castle line when it arrives. Despite not enjoying it, part-time work really pays off. Batbrick Away! Quote

SAubzero isn't bad, but for a great batman story MOTP all the way. The Batman I've gotten a little used to, but I can't forgive them for resetting Penguin (who had only just finally got rid of the mutant stereotype), Mr.Freeze and Joker to some of the worst portrayals ever. Still, there are some good stories to be found. I'm planning, once i have all 4 volujes of BTAS, to do a series of vignettes, one or two of my favourite scenes from each ep, which would be fun. Ah yes... I think I need to get a job. Its worth it, trust me. Even if you rake in poor cash like I am it builds up real quick. I expected to have to get the final Indy set - Temple Escape - for my birthday but I got it at the end of march thanks to work, and now I have the mach 5! EDIT: Oops, forgot something. Sounds good, I look forward to it. I think I'll probably just stick to the comics. Its worth it, trust me. Even if you rake in poor cash like I am it builds up real quick. I expected to have to get the final Indy set - Temple Escape - for my birthday but I got it at the end of march thanks to work, and now I have the mach 5! Part of it is that I don't really have time at the miment, what with my exams coming up, and part of it is that I just can't be bothered. I do volunteer in a primary school though, once a week, so it's not like I don't do anything. And there's the pantomime society as well. I like that new hair, cool to have it in black. Of course I'd still prefer the other one, but this is a great substitute. If I prefer it to the old one, it's staying, if not it's going in the parts bin. Either way, I get a cool hairstyle for general MOCing. Well all these new bumper stickers seem nice, and the box art looks promising. I like the boxes as well. Batbrick Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Sounds good, I look forward to it. I think I'll probably just stick to the comics. Thanks, and that's understandable. I grew up watching BTAS, it's like the comics but in animaiton to me. When I got back into batman this is what brought me back, after seeing some BTAS eps on youtube, so I owe the show a lot for how I came to be the comic geek I am today Part of it is that I don't really have time at the moment, what with my exams coming up, and part of it is that I just can't be bothered. I do volunteer in a primary school though, once a week, so it's not like I don't do anything. And there's the pantomime society as well. That's perfectly understandable, although you seem to have an awful lot of exams. Of course, as stated many times, this year is my "catchup" year, I know i definietly won't spend this much next year on Lego (fingers crossed anyway). If I prefer it to the old one, it's staying, if not it's going in the parts bin. Either way, I get a cool hairstyle for general MOCing. It'll probably end up in the bin for me, I need that hairpiece for cool mocs. As you say, either way is good, I have two Robins so I already have two of the older hairpiece. I like the boxes as well. The Batman in the corner is quite nice, but it's a pity he's not minifig-ised. Still, beggars can't be choosers. Batman boxart is great, too bad I only kept half of them. The comics are great too, I love the Bane one, heres hoping he gets another set. Oh, and Batbrick, just for you (well, and me): , never get sick of her. I can't believe how well they've done her, she looks evil but not overly so, and has a streak of mischievousnesses to her, and a tiny touch of innocence as well. Great to see that the designers are really paying tribute to the mythos instead of just releasing figs of how they think they should be done. Heck, I'd take that great detailing of the comics with only a couple of new figs each wave over a lot of new figs anyday! Is Robin's new hair the same as Mutt's (from Indiana Jones)? Yes, but Mutt's is brown, while this is black. The Agents sets also look to be contributing some great hairpieces too. Batbrick Away! Quote

Brainbox Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Thanks, and that's understandable. I grew up watching BTAS, it's like the comics but in animaiton to me. When I got back into batman this is what brought me back, after seeing some BTAS eps on youtube, so I owe the show a lot for how I came to be the comic geek I am today Actually it was the 60s film that got me into Batman. I watched it when I was young, and enjoyed it. Of course, I took it seriously then, but it was my first Batman experience. Then my library got a graphic novel section, and I got a few out. That was it. I kept reading, and became more involved in the continuity of the DCU, and the Marvel Universe to a lesser extent. Excessive reading coupled with my scarily good memory made for a fierce combination That's perfectly understandable, although you seem to have an awful lot of exams. Of course, as stated many times, this year is my "catchup" year, I know i definietly won't spend this much next year on Lego (fingers crossed anyway). I do. I did a few modules in January, as most people did, then the rest of this years start around the middle of May (I think the first one is May 15th). Still, they're all out of the way by the end of the first week in June. Batman boxart is great, too bad I only kept half of them. Oh, I keep all my Lego boxes. They're all collapsed and tied together down the side of my wardrobe. It's great how TLC have printed the diamonds on her legs. We don't often get leg priniting (although it has become increasingly common). It's a nice simple design, but one that truly captures Harley. And it's much the same for the other Bat-figs. The Agents sets also look to be contributing some great hairpieces too. We do seem to have got a strange number of new minifig molds this year. The new hairpieces, the jesters hat, the dwarf beards, the Castle helmets (orc, dwarf), etc. TLC can only afford a small number of new molds each year, so maybe that's why we've not seen an awful lot these past couple of years. They've been saving them for this year. Quote
