Siegfried Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 In fact, here's a very good site. Indeed it is! Thanks very much for that link. *sweet* I actually think that the Tumbler is the best Batmobile ever built. All the others looked impractical on screen, but the Tumbler seemed almost like a practical car to me. Even so I think the animated series Batmobile is the best... and that Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman movie. All the other movies have too many flaws; 1. Jack is a horrid Joker and the story is pure nonsense. 2. The first 2/3 of this movie is great.... but most the ending is lame. This still is the best live action movie though. 3. Joel. :-X 4. Joel. :-X 5. The only cast member that I liked was Gary Oldman. The rest just didn't work for me. The script was poor as well; too much repetition "Why do we fall over?", "You must learn to mind your surroundings"... :-| Most of the action was good though. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hahaha perfect summary, Sinner! Apart from Batman Begins, for me. Of course, Bale pales to Keaton. Caine is a great actor but just doesn't come close to my picture of Alfred. But what BB did is make a fastmoving film about Batman. Sadly it took away some of the mythology (everything has to be technical and realistic in BB, blegh). But the supporting cast impressed me (Neeson, Oldman... and yes I have a weakness for misses Tom Cruise). And the overall story, connecting the origins of Batsy with Ra's Al Guhl, Scarecrow and Jim Gordon was to my liking as well. Nevertheless - each is entitled to his/her own opinion of course. :-) (And I agree that The Perfect Batman Film still does not exist.) Quote

All the other movies have too many flaws; _________ Yes, I would LOVE to see that Batmobile in Lego *wub* I just bought Mask of the Phantasm the other day, and although I liked Batman Begins, Phantasm is perfect! _________ And I agree that The Perfect Batman Film still does not exist.) _________ Mask of the Phantasm exists doesn't it? Then so does the perfect Batman film! X-D :-P Since this is the third wave, and a bigger one at that, can we expect to get TWO new Batman figs? I was hoping for an all-black Batman, and maybe an armoured batsuit or classic one. Thoughts on this? And also, the figs seem to be based more upon the animated series too. Does anyone else think this? Mr.Freeze is a deaa give-away, right down to the red goggles. The Joker has the Mark Hamill hair. Killer Croc, while being a different colour (not so if you count TNBA in canon, which I don't) has the humanoid appearance and same sort of looks. Scarecrow looks a lot like it too. Alfred is almost exactly the same as he is in BTAS. I reckon they seem to be taking the favourite interpretations of these characters from any media if you ask me. Clearly as the Batmobile has morphed into the Brickmobile! >:-) Edited December 5, 2007 by Batbrick Quote

Well i agree with points 1-4, however i thought BB was a great movie. I love the fact that they tried to place the bat in as close a world to ours, i felt that this was a bat that could exsist in the real world. Sure the script wasn't great but it was better than the other live action films before it, i was really happy to see more of the man behind the mask also. I hated Michael Keaton as the bat and he was made worse by a lack of character depth from Burton. His acting consisted of oh look at my scary Bruce Wayne face and...... Well that's about it. :-/ At least the new BB showed us why he became the bat and in great detail, If the Dark Knight is as good as BB then i will be very happy. Oh and i heard today that a 6 min preview of the Dark Knight can be seen as a trailer before the new I am legend film, from what i heard it's all about the Joker, 8- Quote
jedikermit Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 ...I liked Batman Begins too--I love that they finally got Lucius Fox, Alfred, and Commissioner (er...Captain) Gordon right. I'm looking forward to this next one more for Harvey Dent than for Two-Face or Joker. Still, this poster made me all giddy earlier today: Quote

I'm looking forward to this next one more for Harvey Dent than for Two-Face or Joker. Still, this poster made me all giddy earlier today: ___________ I'm very dissapointed with how they are handling the Joker though |-/ They are trying to keep him "realistic" without realising that Joker is the prefect way to show just how screwed up Gotham is. By making Joker some guy with scars and make up they are just tying him down in my opinion. That said, I loved BB, I don't believe the script itself was poor, but the basis it was set on. It had a good story and was really in depth, but repetitive quotes galore do not make a script poor but merely mar it in my opinion. That said again, I'm really glad that TLC is basing the characters off their best interpretations in any medium :'-) Clearly Batbrick's mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Quote
Vader Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 That said again, I'm really glad that TLC is basing the characters off their best interpretations in any medium :'-) Oh i agree with you on that, i think basing the sets on the cartoon was the best way for them to go. There's still so much that they can do, hopefully a manbat fig will be released. I'm so glad that we will get a Harley Fig next year, after all Mr J needs his Harley :-) Quote

Manbat is hopeful, but I would rather get the Mad Hatter ("You ruined my LIFE!"), Ra's Al Ghul ("Detective") and Clayface ("Curtains........going down...."). Not to mention, hopefully Bud and Lou hyenas! *wub* And lets not forget the Commisioner Gordon everyone wants! I agree I would love to see Manbat, I would be interested to see how he would be done. Maybe a part minifig, part brickbuilt creature? Clearly Batbricks mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Edited December 6, 2007 by Batbrick Quote
Brainbox Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 It is an extremely cool machine, it just doesn't fit my idea of 'Batman'. :-$ Ah, well, you say that, but Batman: Confidential recently mentioned in one panel (in flashback) that Batman had used this Tumbler-like Batmobile early in his career, before adopting faster, more streamlined Batmobiles. Well i agree with points 1-4, however i thought BB was a great movie. I love the fact that they tried to place the bat in as close a world to ours, i felt that this was a bat that could exsist in the real world. Which, to be honest, has always been one of the important points about Batman. He can't fly, run at near lightspeed or catch bullets in his teeth, he's just an ordinary guy... yeah, point taken, he dresses like a bat. But really, deep down, Bats could be anyone of us. Oh and i heard today that a 6 min preview of the Dark Knight can be seen as a trailer before the new I am legend film, from what i heard it's all about the Joker, 8- Quote
Batbrick Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 And... oh my God: http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6562 __________ Is that a good thing? I'll reserve my judgement till I see it. Sorry to go off topic again, but overall what did you think of BB Brainbox? Clearly Batbrick's mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Quote
Brainbox Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Sorry to go off topic again, but overall what did you think of BB Brainbox? Bear in mind though that we're so far off-topic, that we've come all the way round the back of 'topic' that we're back on it... BB? Personally, I enjoyed it. I don't dislike the 4 'older' films (or the '66 film), I just think that this was more the Batman I know and love. It stripped the Dark Knight back down to his roots, to tell a fantastic story of his early career, introducing him properly for a new generation. I happen to know it did it's job, as I have friends who hate comics and superheroes, but loved BB. The Tumbler was completely different to anything we've ever seen before (barring the DKR Tank), and is actually grounded in logic- it makes sense that Bats would want something tough and protective when he's a little unsure of his abilities, to make sure he has somewhere really safe to go. As for the acting, well, Gary Oldman was fantastic as Gordon, with the right amount of stoicism and world-weariness, and the 'hero cop' angle was tackled well. Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman was good as well, as he managed to distinctly outline that the two are different, and I think it was suggested that the Wayne persona is the 'fake.' Hopefully, the guy who ends up playing Bats in Justice League (sadly not Bale) will manage this as well. The story was well-written, and it featured one of my favourite Bat-villains, Scarecrow, to boot. The opening hour was prhaps a bit slower than the rest of the film, but was still engaging. The Gotham presented was also quite correct, with all the grime, and the NY-influence taken into account. Which is important seeing as how it (and Metropolis) are next to NY, and both are based on the different 'parts' of NY. My only complaint with all the Bat-films is that none of them have used the correct Wayne Manor entrance (for the comics) to the Batcave: through a secret door behind a grandfather clock, accessed by turning the hands to 10:47, the time his parents died... Scarecrow is one of my favourite villains too, very underated IMO, I'm very glad that TLC made him the way they did. Cillian murphy did a very good job playing him I think. Regarding the clock entrance, I believe that the aniated series opened that way, but with a hatch, not moving the hands. That said, I would really love to see a lego Wayne Manor next year, with a Tim Drake out-of-costume fig, a more serious Bruce Wayne, and of course Gordon and some villain like Jervis Tetch attacking it for no apparent reason like in the Batcave set. Clearly Batbrick's mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Quote
Siegfried Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Well i agree with points 1-4, however i thought BB was a great movie. I love the fact that they tried to place the bat in as close a world to ours, i felt that this was a bat that could exsist in the real world. One of my biggest problems with BB was that it implied Batman was a ninja, which IMHO he is not. The whole angle of him being lost until he went to Ninja Academy bothers me as it implies that the training he recieved there was 30% or more of what he was. I always saw that none of his training dominated.... but I have had this rant before so I should get back in my box. :-$ I do agree though that Keaton was an odd choice. Keaton excels at playing dual characters, which would normally make his a good actor for Batman, but he has the complete wrong look... not to mention being too short. :-P Even so, I prefer him to Bale as I don't like his acting. He almost ruined "The Prestige" for me; I kept thinking he was Bruce Wayne... Quote
Brainbox Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Regarding the clock entrance, I believe that the aniated series opened that way, but with a hatch, not moving the hands. Really? Oh, well, I stand corrected. Possibly. That said, I would really love to see a lego Wayne Manor next year, with a Tim Drake out-of-costume fig, a more serious Bruce Wayne, and of course Gordon and some villain like Jervis Tetch attacking it for no apparent reason like in the Batcave set. Perhaps Ra's and Ubu (with Talia of course) seeing as how Ra's knows where the Batcave is. I think I agree. Batman is considered one of the best martial artists of the DCU (it's a contest between him, Batgirl, Connor Hawke and Shiva- I'm not counting Karate Kid as he's from the future DCU, and I'm not counting Prometheus as he downloaded the skills into his cerebral cortex). He's also one of the most intelligent (besides Lex Luthor and Mr Terrific). He's the ultimate sum of his parts- detective and fighter. Quote
Batbrick Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Really? Oh, well, I stand corrected. Possibly.Perhaps Ra's and Ubu (with Talia of course) seeing as how Ra's knows where the Batcave is. __________ Just watched "Perchance to Dream" again (Great episode btw ;-) ), and the entrance is definitely by the clock. It uses a hidden lever however, but I still like that it stayed true to the comics. Ahh, yes, of course, I can't believe I didn't put 2 and 2 together, Ra's would be the perfect villain to go with Wayne Manor, and Ubu would be an excellent fig that wouldn't be just another generic henchman (though I do like generics) Though, knowing TLC................. That said Brainbox, it may hurt your ears to hear that I am not a huge fan of crossovers, I prefer my heroes to have their own world. A world like Batman's in my opinion just doesn't fit in with something like metropolis. That said again, I do love the DC universe, and Justic League, but prefer to think of them as separate continuities in most cases. To try to not go TOO off topic (we're going for the second lap now! X-D ) do you think TLC would be bold enough to have some of the more gangster oriented villains made, or someone along the lines of Black Mask? Clearly Batbrick's mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Quote
jedikermit Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 do you think TLC would be bold enough to have some of the more gangster oriented villains made, or someone along the lines of Black Mask? I don't know about Black Mask, but more because of his obscurity than his gangsterness. I'd prefer to see Ventriloquist/Scarface. Because that would be friggin' awesome. Quote

Mr Spielbrick Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Does anyone else think that the Rock Raiders monster somewhat resembles Clayface? If TLC doesn't do him in a licensed set, one could use that instead... Quote

Lord Of Pies Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Nice find, Sam! Sounds rather interesting, I am curious to see what it looks like. A bat buggy though.... *wacko* Quote

Batbrick Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks for that news Sam89! *sweet* Well, looks like you are as reliable as always, I wonder however what the buggy ends up looking like. I hope something like the two smallest Dino Attack sets, and a bigger vehicle for Mr. Freeze! *wub* Clearly Batbrick's mind has turned to mush! *wacko* Quote
