Brainbox Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 She-Hulk's fourth wall breaks were always too blatant for me, I prefer the subtle, winking at the audience thing. I don't think Mxys counts anyway, seeing as he's from the fifth dimension and all. Well, yeah, I was mainly saying that she can sometimes do it. Some writers use it, others don't. There're a pretty good Joker one in Emperor Joker when he makes a comment about being able to change the entire alphabet, and sudenly the next few text beoxes are in different shapes and squiggles: a new alphabet. And yes, I'm pretty sure that these sets are in the second half of 08, which pleases me, seeing as I'm still chasing after Arkham and soon even more great sets will be released. Oh, yeah, yeah, sorry. I think I misread it. I still have to mod them, Brainbox, do you mind if I took your mods of the Battank as inspiration? No not at all, please feel free. Glad to be asked, actually. :-) Kind of off-topic, but regarding my previous post, for those who don't know, breaking the fourth wall is referring to the character showing his/her awareness of the viewer/reader etc. Also known as metafictional awareness. But 'breaking the fourth wall' sounds a lot cooler. Quote

The pun! I guess I did walk right into that one....... My only problem now for the battank is replacing all that yellow, I have quite a few technic peices from my bionicle days, but not enough of the specific ones :'-( Also, I wonder, if we do get another set as I've been wildly speculating, if it might instead be a UCS set again. I would love to see the Batwing or another Batmobile like that, but probably would rather see more figs. Speaking of which, do you have the UCS Batmobile Brainbox? If so, is it any good? Brainbox Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) I am going to get Arkham first, thats a must, but I think, being the Batman fan I am, and with SSA being massively overpriced, I'll get the Batmobile instead. Thanks for that. Arkham you've definitely got, even if it's only to get Ivy ( *wub* ) and Nightwing. As for the BM, it's not a set I was originally going to get, focusing instead on the 'minifig' sets. That's why it took me a year to get. But I am so glad I picked it up sometime. Mr Spielbrick Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Don't most Batman LEGO fans have a Commissioner Gordon obsession by now? I know I have! If they do make him, it'll probably be the older version. Gary Oldman is relatively young in Batman Begins, most fans know Gordon as the white-haired man from the animated series or comics. *Dreams about how good a self-assembled 10th Doctor minifig could look in Gordon's trenchcoat.* Quote

No mention of the Commish though. I am still 100% sure I read an interview that mentioned the production of a trenchcoat for him, I'll have to go through a few threads then. Well, with a four set wave I can see something like this happening: Batbuggy: Mr. Freeze's Escape - Small set like the Catwoman one, except I reckon Mr.Freeze will have the bigger vehicle. - Probably just comes with a new suited Batman (heres hoping for a dark grey one *wub* ) and Mr. Freeze. I'll be glad with just that, Mr. Freeze's backpack is very useful, as is his clear helmet. His face is also cool (pun unintentional) Robin's Scuba Jet: Attack of The Penguin - a set about that of the Batboat I reckon, though I have no idea what a "Scuba Jet" is. I hope it isn't another water vehicle, I was hoping for something else for Robin. - Again, probably just comes with new suited Batman (perhaps an all-black, BB suit? :'-) ) and The Penguin. Either way, I'm still glad, Penguin is awesome, his torso is great, and you can never have too many tophats or Robin hair. Batcycle: Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck - This is where it gets tricky. I'm predicting this may be the only set where the badguy vehicle FAR outsizes the batvehicle. Hopefully it is the Batpod, that would be sweet. The Hammer Truck I have no idea, it must be fairly big, I'm guessing the set is a bit larger than the Batmobile set. - I can see 3 figs for this one, following the Batman pattern. No doubt a Batman, and lovely Harley Quinn but who else? I doubt it would be a henchman, seeing as Harley Quinn is a henchwoman. Maybe a Kidnapped Commisioner Gordon? :'-) -Either way, with "Harley Quinn" in the title, I'm ecstatic. The Tumbler: Joker's ice Cream Surprise -I'm loving the title of this one, seems so classic Joker to me, ludicrous yet hilarious. He'll probably just have an icecream van (hopefully with Joker Toxin topping or something) and batman will dominate with the Tumbler. I can't escape the feeling there must be something else in this set, I think it will be bigger. It might be in an icecream factory hideout or include a small part of Gotham. - I see three figs for this one as well. One probably just a generic henchman, the other two obvious. I'm hoping it will include another villain though, I can see one of these sets pulling a "Riddler's Hideout" and giving us another fig. Though thinking about it, this one is most likely to contain a Gordon. - If we do get another character in this one I'll be happy, and hopefully Joker gets a new outfit and purple fedora *wub* Well thats my wild predictions, I can't wait to see the actual sets. Overall these are my thoughts on new figs: New Suited Batman (dark grey?) Different New Suited Batman (BB suit?) Harley Quinn (no, really?) Commisioner Gordon (Don't want to get my hopes up, but I just think its inevitable) Another new villain (hopefully, I want to see Mad Hatter) Then theres of course fifth set I keep hoping for.. BTW Brainbox: You have the Nightwing motorcycle right? Are you keeping that for him, or making that into a Batcycle? Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Edited December 25, 2007 by Batbrick Quote

I am still 100% sure I read an interview that mentioned the production of a trenchcoat for him, I'll have to go through a few threads then. Yeah, so am I. I definitely remember reading it, as I remember telling my dad that they were apparantly keeping Gordon bac till they could perfect a trenchcoat. It mentioned Harlyey as well, saying that they were waiting till they could make a jesters hat. Batbuggy: Mr. Freeze's Escape- Small set like the Catwoman one, except I reckon Mr.Freeze will have the bigger vehicle. - Probably just comes with a new suited Batman (heres hoping for a dark grey one *wub* ) and Mr. Freeze. As for the Bat-fig, I'd quite like to see a white insulated Snowsuit. I'm pretty sure he's used one before. If not white, then at least bulky and snow-orientated. Robin's Scuba Jet: Attack of The Penguin- a set about that of the Batboat I reckon, though I have no idea what a "Scuba Jet" is. I suppose the Scuba jet could be some sort of jet that can convert for underwater travel. It's certainly not implausible. Look at the All-Star Batmobile or the Batboat from a few years ago. Batcycle: Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck- This is where it gets tricky. I'm predicting this may be the only set where the badguy vehicle FAR outsizes the batvehicle. It just looks so cool. Of course, the Hammer Truck could be the same size as the truck from the Batmobile set, with a large hamer stuck on top. But like you said, it's Harley. Actually, the other fig could be Ivy couldn't it? Giving their, ahem, relationship, it's certainly a possibility. The Tumbler: Joker's ice Cream Surprise-I'm loving the title of this one, seems so classic Joker to me, ludicrous yet hilarious. Throw in a puple fedora as well, please. I think you're on to something with a 'bit of building', even if it's just a wall or something that the Tumbler can smash through. Hopefully, we'll get a BB/TDK Batsuit to go with this, or at the very least, get one somewhere. BTW Brainbox:You have the Nightwing motorcycle right? Are you keeping that for him, or making that into a Batcycle? The one from Arkham? Yes, but it's staying as a bike for Nightwing, seeing as how he has used one, and would have no other transport otherwise. Actually, that's something I'd like to see, a Redbird for Robin. Quote
Batbrick Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) For me, it'd be Batgirl. Then Clayface, Ra's, and Mad Hatter. I had forgotten about Clayface. I know many have mention just using the Rock Raiders monster, but I'd much prefer him done in the style of the Troll in the new castle sets, except slightly smaller and of course more posable. He could have multiple hand molds, like a normal hand, an axe or sledgehammer. Thats probably too hopeful though.. And Mad Hatter is a must, I don't want to wind up painting one of my top hats just so I can make him. Yeah, so am I. I definitely remember reading it, as I remember telling my dad that they were apparantly keeping Gordon bac till they could perfect a trenchcoat. It mentioned Harlyey as well, saying that they were waiting till they could make a jesters hat. Thats good, I'm not going crazy :-D I remember it mentioning them "holding him back" very specifically too, as well as Harley. I'm pretty confident we'll be seeing him this time though. Maybe Freeze could have some sort of sledge or a ski-mobile. As for the Bat-fig, I'd quite like to see a white insulated Snowsuit. I'm pretty sure he's used one before. If not white, then at least bulky and snow-orientated. Yes a ski-mobile would be great, and useful for other things too. I think a snow-oriented batsuit would be great, but given that we'll probably be seeing only two new batsuits by the pattern, I think I'll take something else. Besides, it would have to appear in another set where it would make no sense. We can always hope, but I think instead you are onto something with it being bulky. Maybe a more armoured batsuit. I suppose the Scuba jet could be some sort of jet that can convert for underwater travel. It's certainly not implausible. Look at the All-Star Batmobile or the Batboat from a few years ago. Good point, these sets don't tell us much do they? I'd be happy with what you suggested, but what we really need is his motorcycle, the Redbird, which you mention down there somewhere. You know, the more I think about it, the more I want a Bat-Pod over a regular Batcycle. Well, I'm thinking the same. I hated the Batpod at first, but after seing it in action, wow is all I can say. And the Hammer Truck could be the same size, I just thought truck instead of van, but TLC tends to do that all the time. Either way, I think the price range is that of the Batmobile roughly, so that means three figs. And I reckon you are right, I keep forgetting Ivy :-$ She has a large possibility of being in that set, though I think I would prefer her in her own set, with a brickbuilt plant or something. But atleast it would mean the end of all the Arkham figs being re-released. Now I know you want green ivy really bad, but sorry to say, I don't think we'll be seeing her anytime soon. Sorry, I just don't think TLC would even bother. Relationship? Two grown women sleeping in the same bed, not all that subtle is it? Ah, now, if we get a proper trenchcoat to go with Gordon, maybe we'll get one in purple for the Joker. Throw in a puple fedora as well, please. I think you're on to something with a 'bit of building', even if it's just a wall or something that the Tumbler can smash through. Hopefully, we'll get a BB/TDK Batsuit to go with this, or at the very least, get one somewhere. I think with all these TDK related (note: not based, but related) sets, that a BB/TDK batsuit is pretty much given. I still want a dark grey one though. If you want to see what it looks like, look on the back of the Batwing instruction manual, you can see a dark grey bats on the Batwing stand. And I had completely forgotten about a trenchcoat for Joker aswell :-$ I NEED him to have those, or a Laughing Fish vignette wouldn't look as good. I guess this set all comes down to what the Ice Cream Surprise really is. It might be a van (not likely now, I'm thinking, if Harley gets one), a little business stand (allowing for plenty of other building), or a fullblown icecream factory. The one from Arkham? Yes, but it's staying as a bike for Nightwing, seeing as how he has used one, and would have no other transport otherwise.Actually, that's something I'd like to see, a Redbird for Robin. Fair enough, I modded my Service Station bike to be a batcycle. Nothing too fancy, I just put some fancy black peices on it, and some clips that hold two Batarangs. And again, Redbird is must. We Batfans are never satisfied are we? :-D Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Edited December 26, 2007 by Batbrick Quote
Brainbox Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I think a snow-oriented batsuit would be great, but given that we'll probably be seeing only two new batsuits by the pattern, I think I'll take something else. Besides, it would have to appear in another set where it would make no sense. We can always hope, but I think instead you are onto something with it being bulky. Maybe a more armoured batsuit. Yeah, that's a point, it would probably go in another set, so TLC could get their money's worth out of it. As for an armoured Batsuit, have you read As The Crow Flies? How cool would it be to see the giant armoured Batsuit he uses to battle the Scarebeast in a set? True, it's not a Batsuit per se, but still. As far as other Batsuits are concerned, I'd like to see a Dark Grey suit as well, and maybe a glider-suit, with an oversized cape that fold out to becomea glider. Or, what about an oversized caope that Bats can wrap round himself, and blend in with the shadows, doing his dark, brooding thing... And the BB/TDK suit you mention as well. Good point, these sets don't tell us much do they? I'd be happy with what you suggested, but what we really need is his motorcycle, the Redbird, which you mention down there somewhere. Actually, there's the car Redbird from a few years ago. I know it's not really been used recently, but it's still an option. And wouldn't it be nice to see a One Year Later Robin, in the new red and black suit? We Batfans are never satisfied are we? :-D No, and you know why it is , don't you? It's because we are Batfans. We know all the characters, the comics-events, the locations, etc. And the more Lego gives us, the more we go "why haven't we got..." If we were only casual Batfans, we wouldn't care what we haven't got. That's why we want a green Ivy, and a trenchcoat/fedora Joker, and more Batmobiles, and some of the more obscure villains, a proper Gordon, an Oracle and so on. You know what would be good though. We'd never get them, mind, but some Batcave add-ons would be nice. Like, extra rooms and platforms that we could MOD in. For example, a Kryptonite vault, the last Lazarus Pit (bar the others) that may or may not be there, the 'Fallen Soldier' memorial, the T-Rex and giant penny, the med-scanner, the secret tunnel entrance that Supes uses, the staircase and grandfather clock, etc. Quote
Brainbox Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Yeah, that one. Something like that might be nice. Unlikely, but nice. But Batbrick's right, Robin's bikes have sometimes been referred to as Redbirds, and tend to be motocross-type things, as opposed to the more 'street bike' Batcycles. Quote
