Posted November 21, 200717 yr This is probably the last military ground vehicle I will be pressing into service for the Tabletown Army - well, for a while at least. My brief here was to complete a trio of vehicles so that the Tabletown troops actually had something to ride around in, and to keep it to the same style as the Triumph Class LAVs and the Aggressor Class MBT. I'm not 100% happy with it - but then, how exactly do you make an APC look "interesting" given that it's just a big metal box for carrying soldiers around? So, on the basis that I may upgrade it or change it, I'm going to call this the Infiltrator, Mk 1. The Infiltrator is larger than I expected it to be, it's purpose is of course to ferry troops into battle in relative safety. As you'll see, it uses many of the same characteristics as the previous military vehicles I've constructed and this was a primary consideration. The Infiltrator generally has one driver as crew, although two can sit up front if necessary - the second seat might be used by a troop commander for example. Atop the vehicle are twin 20mm "autocannon" - computer controlled robotic guns mounted on a motorised turret. These weapons are intended to lay down suppressing fire as the Infiltrator moves into position, and to defend the vehicle if attacked. It can also be used to provide covering fire for advancing troops, "fixing" an enemy in position with withering fire whilst the troops outflank the enemy positions. Here is a side view. Unlike other vehicles serving with the Tabletown Army, the Infiltrator is not capable of fording rivers in a submerged state and NBC protection is limited to three hours due to the strains placed on internal life support systems with troops on board. Atop the autocannon turret is a small sensor that uses RADAR and infra-red to locate targets. Ammunition is fed from boxes inside the crew compartments. Designed by Sinister Industries, a division of S.INC, the Infiltrator features the same bars mounted on the side armour which can electrify the hull to prevent enemy infantry assault. The troop compartment to the rear can carry up to six fully-armed and equipped soldiers, a full Tabletown Army Squad. Egress is made via the rear hatch which raises to allow the troops to hit the ground running. This also provides a small degree of protection to disembarking troops from airborne threats. The Infiltrator's armour is heavy for an APC, but incapable of withstanding heavy fire and it is not recommended for use in direct combat where the risk of return fire might disable or destroy it. In practical terms this means that the Infiltrator will generally withdraw once its load of troops are in position if anything above small arms fire is threatening it. Here we see the complete set of vehicles, from left to right, an Aggressor Class MBT, an Infiltrator Class APC and a Triumph Class LAV. As can be seen from this image, the Tabletown Army has already begun using the Infiltrator Mk 1. Dr. S. Edited November 21, 200717 yr by Doctor Sinister
November 21, 200717 yr Author Once again, a very nice Moc Dr.S. Where did you get the Tabletown brick? Thanks - I'm not totally happy with it, but it is growing on me. As for the brick - I have a load of those - I was at a LEGO event and they had brought their brick engraver along - for an extra charge they would colour the text for you. Expensive though... Dr. S.

November 22, 200717 yr Another great creation! Tabletown will sure be able to fend off those Bestlock folk now! I like the way all these vehicles are similar, yet still so unique. *sweet* *y* Very cool, I see more cooling vents and hull-electrifiers. :-D Great job! *y* *y* ~Peace
November 22, 200717 yr Only for defence did you say? I stop believing that.....Need much more Houwitsers Edited November 22, 200717 yr by wouwie13
November 22, 200717 yr wow how many conatianer lifters do you have Doc Sinister? Anyway this is great and it certainly comliments your other tabletown military vehicles. it looks like Tabletown is quickly becoming a faciest police state.
November 22, 200717 yr I liked your first one, loved your second... but not this one. :-/ It looks like a van to me. I think the nose is too long; perhaps you should use those pieces vertically? Another option is to drop the tread look and go for a more jeep style APC... 8-|

I think the back is OK - any thoughts on that area? But the front...yes. Dr. S.

November 22, 200717 yr Author At this time the back looks good to me... but I might change my mind if/when you change the front! :-P Fair enough. :-) I'm all built out right now, and I've got to review a new game for a website I do some work for (yeah, what a drag, I have to review computer games... :-D ) but I might work on this at the weekend. It all depends if I can get over the burnt-in image of green LEGO in my eyes. *y* Dr. S.

November 22, 200717 yr Author What genre of game? Whatever needs reviewing, basically. I don't do them regularly, I'm in charge of the military history side of the website but I turn my hand to game reviews if something catches my eye and/or if they need someone to fill in - right now I'm playing Quake Wars for review purposes. It's an FPS. You can see the articles I've written (including game reviews) here. Dr. S.
November 23, 200717 yr Author This is what I had in the back of my mind when I designed this vehicle - the Humber Pig! I didn't refer to any pictures whilst I built it, and I'd forgotten that it wasn't even a tracked vehicle, but hopefully you can sort of see where I was coming from. When I took that picture of the Infiltrator in Tabletown, I was instantly reminded of images of the Pig driving around the streets in Northern Ireland. Dr. S.
November 23, 200717 yr This is what I had in the back of my mind when I designed this vehicle - the Humber Pig! Yes, that's what I mean. The Australian Bushmaster is a similar concept. I think you should either go more tank or less tank; at the moment it looks too half and half for my liking.
