Based on the box placeholder, it appears that there will be 20 unique minifigures in the Ninjago Movie CMF series just like in the Batman LEGO Movie CMF series.

I saw that, too. My wallet is screwed if the designs end up being good.

Everybody's looking at the city, and I'm just a little over the moon that that's Lord Garmadon.

Like...

I feel as if I'm seeing an old friend I haven't seen in years.

Now all I need is a trailer.

Trailer should be out this month!

Yeah, I don't know if Comicbook Now counts as an accurate source, but they said the same thing.

I'm expecting some shenanigans to be done with the city. Lord Garmadon Looks great.

But Lloyd's outfit is pretty underwhelming. But it is somewhat nostalgic of the original Ninja. Fortunately, all the ninja will have different designs.

I would kinda expect the Lego Ninjago movie to Piggyback off of the Lego Batman Movie. I'll let you know after I see it this Monday.

Also Garamdon is beautiful...I am very excited to see him in this movie!!!

Oh that's right! I forgot the Lego Batman Movie was coming early February! I feel like it's a good thing I forgot about that movie's release date.

Also, how would the Ninjago movie piggyback off Lego Batman? Maybe it would foreshadow or tease the LNM  but I don't think the story itself would initiate the Ninjago movie.

I do think all these movies are in the same world however, and Ninjago is some island off somewhere.

I meant like releasing the trailer with the movie. But if that doesn't happen. I do expect some sort of nod the the Ninjago Movie. I think it's all but been confirmed that all the LEGO movies will exist in the same universe. I can't confirm however.

Holy sweet mother of the First Spinjitzu Master, that Garmadon gives me life!

People are saying the trailer drops with the Batman movie next week. Hope there's some validity to that.

Ya the length of the trailer is like 2:30 I think. I'm super excited for a trailer! I really wasn't expecting it so soon! I could be wrong but we already have a larger cast list than TLBM and we're less than a week away now

Seems like some alien/space villain piloting an odd looking futuristic flying saucer just like something from some Space theme. Which becomes ironic when you look at just three posts above:

From the looks of it, it looks really grounded in classic ninja visual style of the 80's. Which is a realy good thing, I think the theme is not at it's strongest with silly sci-fi.

I don't think this has been posted yet, so here is the official synopsis from The Brick Fan:

Quote

In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power.

It's interesting that they seem to be making Lloyd the protagonist rather than the original four ninjas which makes sense given his personal connection to the villain of the film. Also, this confirms that this movie is indeed part of the same continuity as TLM.

I think the zany sci-fi/fantasy stuff is part of the charm of the theme and the movie seems to be embracing that as it promises a Pacific Rim style mech battle and there is a flying saucer in the first look we got, so don't count on it being very grounded.

Is Lloyd wearing black?

I know right? Who has ever heard of a ninja wearing black? :sarcasm: Honestly, one of the things that always bugged me was how colorful the ninja were because of how un-ninja-like it was, so I'm actually glad that they are all wearing mostly black with only accents of their individual colors rather than the other way around.

Lloyd appeared as a master builder in one of the TLM sets, so I'm not surprised to see references to the TLM here

I wonder if there will be characters from other franchises. Even Batman could appear here, but that would be kinda overkill

This... when ninjago theme started, everyone complained about "candy colored ninjas". I didn't mind it that much because these 'ninjas' from the theme aren't even real ninjas in first place (assassins) and even real assassin ninjas actually didn't wear black robes and masks. Anyway, I didn't expect that so many people would dislike the black design.

Well, definitely. If the Batman movie has Sauron, Voldemort and King Kong (!), this one will have too... though probably something more like Nexo knights or Chima characters. I can imagine TMNT characters in short roles as well.

Odd that Spinjitzu hasn't been mentioned yet..

That's actually a very interesting point and I totally forgot that it's supposed to be a thing until you mentioned it now... Maybe they totally ditched spinjitzu for the movie, because it would be too difficult to animate properly with actual lego pieces?

But when Lloyd appeared in TLM he wore his 2012 suit...

Fingers crossed the trailer comes out this weekend!

So.. now he has a new suit. Though I do wonder about the logistics of Lloyd looking like his TV counterpart in the LEGO Movie, but is different in the LEGO Ninjago Movie. I guess he got new clothes. Or old clothes... could the LEGO Ninjago Movie be before the LEGO Movie?
