Superkalle told that he didn't examined the entries in details, so his comment was related to how the entries appear.

When he will examine the entries in details, he will notice the excessive number of bricks and new colour combinations you reported above.

The last lines are, frankly, an unjustified criticism. Besides these personal controversies have to be discussed in private.

it is quite pity that other users just "shut up" do not demanding the same right for all and it seems like I am the only one who is actually punished for speaking out - why?

Why? Because the people who put on the contest are the people who determine who qualifies for entry.

They are also the people who supply the awesome generous prizes.

If they want to disqualify someone, they will in their own time.

...it'd be nice if more users have actually "guts" and also speak out cos I know some think the ssame about you and it is they are just quite fearing possible consequences - I am not and I told you many times over PM!

Speaking out is not necessary in this situation. Like you, I think rules are in place for a reason and should be adhered to, but unlike you, I don't feel the need to point out other's trespasses.

P.S.: you most probably delete this post - as you use to if the message being presented is not what you like, but at least it will be here for a few seconds, maybe others would see it and those I know think the same as me will actually speak out against you finally!

:sarcasm: Oh boy! Everyone, let's revolt! Bubbles here has sparked a revolution! Down with mods! Down with mods! Yayyyy! :sarcasm:

If after april 30th i edited my entry post to add links to other place to show more pictures of my models from differrent angle or showcasing gimmick, would that get me disqualified?

And, say that before april 30th i add a link to another post/place, to show more pictures of my models, but after april the 30th i edited that post/place (the entry post itself remains unchanged) would that counts as violation of rules too?

Well, technically speaking, yes, you would get disqualified; you've edited your entry after the deadline.

However, Superkalle probably locks the entry topic after the deadline, so you won't be able to do anything anyway

That's an interesting one, never thought of it that way.

Whatever you do outside of your entry is up to you. However, it's a bit of a grey area if you link to another page that has a considerable lot more content that you keep updating. More pictures of the same models is not really a problem, the image limit is more in place to keep the entry topic manageable. More models, not sure about that. But after all, we can't control the internet, so just try to keep it fair. At least while the contest (voting) is still going on. After that, you may go wild of course.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but i want to ask: Are there will be another digital contest again?

We don't have anything planned at the moment, but I highly doubt this wil be the last contest.

Never say never.

No, i don't plan to add more model, don't worry about that. It's just to explain my model's gimmick, i need to make series of pictures, in which i need to render them one by one. Looking at the time left, i'm afraid i couldn't render them all in time. My plan was to put the link first on my entry post, and then put the pictures after, on the page linked, hence my question.

I also think the change of rules is not fair and not well-communicated. If you set up a contest with a set (not a model, haha!) of rules, you should stick until the end of it. If that means that many people will be disqualified because they did not follow this rules, disqualify them, but don't punish the people who followed all the rules in the first place. This way, your contest looks like despotism by the moderators (sorry for the strong language, but I think it expresses well what many users here think) -- See it as a contract you sign with some people... you cannot change or re-interpret the conditions of this contract without asking the other parties involved. And I personally do not agree with that change of rules (or interpretation of rules, whatever strange trick you are playing here for excuse) and think this will highly influence my chances to win one of the announced prices. Sorry, but this really bothers me.

+1 from me sadly (because I wish I didn't have to agree with this)

@sabertooth

Even if I agree with you (rules should not be changed, except when some huge problem arises), I think you (and other builders) misinterpreted the reason why the rules has been changed.

The aim of this contest is to make something funny. The aim of the rules was to avoid excesses from the builders and borderline entries. As you can notice from previous discussions, the strict interpretation of the rules was leading to excessive limitations (compared to the original idea of the organizers), so has been decided to make some concessions that would not make the contest go off the rails.

Certainly the inexperience played a significant role in this case, but I'm sure that much as been learned from these mistakes and it will be useful for the next times.

At the moment my idea is that the excessive "spirit of competition" of some builders is ruining the contest (for them, at least). My suggestion is... "take it easy" and have fun :classic: . With hindsight, maybe a contest with smaller prizes (the main prize, at least) would have been a better choice.

Yeah, not only will taking it easy mean less stress and less infighting, but generally, the less competitive of a mood you are in, the better the models you are making will turn out.

Oh, yeah, guess I won't be able to finish the Arctic Team Mobile Base. Oh well - I did enough

If you provide a link to a full topic for your entry in your post, will that topic link be present in the final summary for voting?

Not sure there will be a summary post, since the entry topic is so neat as it is.

But if there will be a summary, it will link to each entry post for voters to have a look at, and there they can follow links.

Thanks. My custom decorations aren't loading properly in my high-quality main entry renders, so I'll use the less important non-render pictures in my secondary topic to show them off.

@DraikNova

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that the images contains too many elements not directly related to show the buildings.

For example Superkalle asked CM4Sci to remove set's name and numbers from his images.

The numbers besides the renders show off the scannable puzzle disc set. Do you think the numbers indicating which minifigures are in which set are not okay?

I hope it's acceptable. I'd like to note that there are pictures without the numbers in the flickr gallery (uploaded before 12), so the moderators can replace the pictures with the numbers with those without if necessary.

The entry topic has been closed now. Voting will begin as soon as we're done prepping for it. It can take a few days at least. We'll see. :classic:

@drakinova - your pictures in the post are OK, so don't worry about that.

Now, about the some of the complaints about the contest, I'd like to take the opportunity to quickly just comment on those, just to have it said.

I also think the change of rules is not fair and not well-communicated

Now, this isn't only directed only to you guys, but I'd kindly ask you to consider the following:

1) This was a contest created by two persons doing this on their spare time and on a 100% voluntary basis. We don't have the backing of some large corporation, so it's very much on a hobby level.

2) We never had a digital design contest with this particular setup before, so it wasn't easy to predict all possible issue. Making a digital contest is always more difficult then a physical one because of all the added degrees of freedom. So isn't completely fair to judge this contest against a "normal" contest as EB that usually never has any rules changes.

3) There has in fact been only one rule change, and it was about the 5 non-produced colors. The other was just a clarifying the interpretation of a "model" (to be more in-line with we think most of you had thought from the start). To be honest, legolijntjes had the same perception as most of you all the time, and it was me who messed up regarding my post if it was to be a "model" or "set".

4) There hasn't been any changes that would significantly change the preconditions of the contest or for anyone to make a good entry. A good MOC is a good MOC no matter what, and in our experience that shines through to the voters much more then whatever the small effect the rule change may have had. Right or wrong, but that's how we reasoned.

4) The one rule change (and one clarification) were made because of input from all you participants. We didn't just make the changes for our own sake. We perceived a majority thought they'd do good and they sounded reasonable, so we did them. All in the spirit of a fun contest.

5) We did all we could to communicate the changes. There was even front pages made mentioning both rule addendum's. I don't see there was anything more we could've done.

Anyway, enough about that. The contest is closed now, and we'll naturally take all input with us for the future.

Now I'd just like to say: Thanks everyone who made an entry, and thanks for the support for the contest!

Now it's time to setup the voting. legolijntjes flew to New York for vacation, so I'm left with this alone. Great
