A great review again hinckley. There is now doubt that this is a great little set and those minifigs are stunning *wub* . However i can't help but feel that the bikes look to modern for 1940's time frame. I think they should have used the old motorbike mold just because it looks more the part.

I think these look more like the bikes. Some parts (Like the sitting part) maybe a bit modern, but it looks pretty close to the old ones. I wonder if a tanish color would have looked better??

What are we talking about? Isn't the gold armor, just the pearl gold armor that comes in these sets?

Steve

i could be wrong but i swear it looks metallic gold, not pearl gold. but it could be just the lighting effects. need to see if hinckley has the pearl gold armor and if he can do a comparison.

Lt. Col. Thok, you could look at the pic review, as that is what the whole thread is about! :-D Seriously, its the Batman Bruce Wayne face.

You say that derogatory, racist thing one more time and you're getting chambered >:-(

First off its NOT racist, Haole just means anyone who is a vistor to the hawaiian islands, I asked him a long time ago if I could call him that, and he said it would be fine or I wouldn't be using that term anymore

Sorry if it offends you.......

Second I was just joking

Thanks

Well then one of you is lying to me. He told me that he asked you before NOT to use that towards him and you continued anyway! And don't give me that "it's not racist" crap. You're really hawaiian, right? So how could you not know it's connotations? Don't ever try to BS me, kid.

Haole, in its current definition, first became associated with the children of Caucasian immigrants in the early 1820s. It unified the self-identity of these Hawai'i-born children whose parents were as much culturally different as they were similar. For Haole children whose first language was Hawaiian, their parents were either religious missionaries or secular businessmen, and hailed from both sides of the Atlantic ocean, not necessarily speaking the same language or English dialect.

With the first three generations of Haole playing key roles in the rise of the economic and political power shifts that lasted through the turn of the 20th century, Haole evolved into a term that was often used in contempt. Though its first usage in such context had to do with classist origins, it has evolved further to racial meaning, erroneously replacing "malihini" (newcomer) in addressing people who move to Hawai'i from the U.S. mainland. Today it is often applied to those who are of Caucasian ancestry, or those who think or behave in a foreign manner.

In current application, Haole is often, but certainly not always, used as a racially derogatory word and can be used descriptively or derisively. In the 20th Century, in many schools the last day of school was called "Kill Haole Day" when they were teased, called names or beat up.

You wanna try that again?

Great review, very through. :-D I actually thought those boxes were brickbuilt. I'm also not sure why they needed a new window mold as there are already two perfectly decent ones to use. TLG definately deserves a round of a plase for the side car.

The comic was funny, I think the lack of words added to the overall effect. :-D

Wait- that quote does state that it's not always used as racial. I know people in Hawaii-having relatives there- and they use it from time to time, and not mentioning it as racial.

Yes, and he said it isn't used as a derrogatory word at all, odd considering the apparently rampant use in Hawaii. And as for what you're saying, it's okay for people to say it amongst themselves...not to mention Hinckley told him not to say it anymore and he did anyway. So he's lied a bunch right there, and that doesn't make me happy in the least.

Hey, its' all good. I know Piranha means no offense to me about it. No one's lying to anyone either. When I asked Piranha to stop calling me that I mixed in a statement that I didn't find it offensive. That made the request to stop an implication and not a direct request. I know Piranha means no offense to me-but I think it should stop in case anyone else might find it offensive. I know some people who have an ugly history with the word...All friends again, I hope?

Toy discussions on!

I apologize :-(

Hooray- happy (enough) ending!

Hinckley- How is the new bag? It looks great, but can anything be put "in" it? By this, I mean is the bag hollow enough to hold anything, like a pistol? Doesn't look like it...

And, were there other Indie sets at your TRU?

I would guess that the bag can't open considering its size :-/

As for the other sets, I reckon he would have told us if there were others, but we can always hope! :'-)

But just think this, you guys are lucky no matter how little of these sets you get, because Tasmania, and Australia in general has to wait till next year! :'-(

It is just a front, it can't hold anything. Apparently, it shouldn't have been on the shelf, which is why I didn't ask if there were any more in back. Someone else asked at a TRU in another area of Chicago and the computer says the set hasn't been released yet. I have a feeling someone messed up while stocking at my TRU...

There were no other Indy sets there, otherwise I would have bought them. The Motorcycle Chase was meant to be the introductory set, so I figure that is why we're seeing it first...

I figured that out. :-P I was asking if it was hollow enough to hold something, like this backpack:

Whoops, our posts crossed. :-$ Never any fun, like getting fishing lines caught in mid-cast...

Thanks. That would've been really useful to be able to hold something, but I (forgive the obvious) suppose it would be too big.

Another question: Does the bag get in the way of his arm?

The bag is wide enough to hold a 1 x 1 round plate, but not deep enough to keep the whole thing in. The bag does get in the way of bringing the arm all the way down. You also have to raise his arm all the way up in order to get the bag on..

Re: 7620 Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase ;-)

This is such a droolsome set! *wub* I think this could be the best set for under 100 pieces ever! Two bikes, two characters, new pieces... strewth. 8-

My five year old son laughed really loud at the comic, Hinckley. Just so you know the level you're operating at.

It's the highest compliment. Fantastic stuff. *wub*

:-P Of course I know the level I'm operating at. Haven't you seen all of the whacking, wedgie and swirly jokes in my comics? It's not Anton Chekov. :-$

So the bag is hollow, then? 8-|

I was going to ask if it was solid or hollow.

I would cackle in my chair if your comments just backfired! :-D :-P EDIT: Whoops! Backfire on my part! I didn't read your question carefully enough! Irony!

I would also agree with Sinner in saying that these HAVE to come to Aus, we barely get enough sets as it is! |-/
