While many would argue (playfully) he's never come up with a MOC of his own, we're constantly immersed by his contributions to this hobby. Be it the many renders he's prepared, Technicopedia, or the other major build threads (Akiyuki GBCs) that we all keep coming back to.

How many of us have decided to buy parts and build a MOC not because we saw a picture or video, but more because of oe of his renders? I still have the yellow Murcielago on display).

So, the topic in this thread is to ask for comments on what you thought of his contributions, or better yet, how would this hobby (your addiction) be were it not for his renders and other contributions?

PS. He's made no plans to retire yet, and I wish him many more years being actively engaged in this forum.

Well, among other things, his (and his colleagues', kudos to all of you) implementation of the Grove mobile crane is one the reasons I got back into Technic so intensively. I had bought my first sets after the dark ages, but what really got me going, was the Grove. I still don't have all the parts, but soon...

Point of this hero worshipping?

No, I've _never_ bought any parts/MOC designs (from anybody) etc because of Eric's contributions/Technicopedia

To me, Technicopedia is done, as I only work with studded LEGO/Technic :classic:

But I DO love that site!

And for that, I've sent Eric one of my special/one of a kind/impossible to get/ LEGO prototypes, just so he has to buy yet another shelf to display his many wonders ..

(Eric, please send those those plans to that Mars rocket as we agreed about, I'm ready to go now. Gf is waiting and I've allready said goodbuy to my pet hamster ..)

Oh, it's BLAKBIRD, btw

Cheers,

Ole

I can easily point the finger at Eric for pretty much all of my purchases. See if it weren't for tecnicopedia I wouldn't have known that 8858 was a sweet model with complex suspension (I never had it as a kid since my real technic years started with 8440). So I had to buy that, and then 8880, and then....well you know how it goes (230 technic/model team models later, including multiples). Now add MOC's which started with Grazi's tow truck (he sent me the CAD) and then his bigfoot, then Pauls stuff...all of which were enabled by "blakbird". Then you figure the roscoPC F1 collection, all of Jennifer Clarks stuff, including the demag which was more of "if you build it chase, ill make the instructions". Hell, I even have 3450 (statue of liberty) which Eric sold me and then I built a base for it. Oh, and Akiyuki....17 models so far.

So yeah, I'm chalking 100% up to him....which I remind him once a year.

As for Technicopedia as a set resource this:

To me, Technicopedia is done, as I only work with studded LEGO/Technic :classic:

I checked some of the newer studless models as well, but that's was just a quick look since I'm not interested in buying them anyway.

His renders are always of high quality, and I've actually bought quite a number of instructions. So far, I've only built one creation with these: Jennifer Clark's excellent JCB excavator.

Actually, I think if I built all of the models he made instructions for, I would've been bankrupt.

As for Eric himself, I've never met him but mailed and PM'ed him and he was always nice and helpful.

And when I clicked this topic after reading the title, I almost thought DrJB was posting a MOC...

Anyway big thanks to Blakbird for Technopedia, all his awesome renders and all the other stuff he did.

Blakbird? I always thought he was a bit of a jerk.

Shows maturity, to look at oneself in the mirror, and throw all sorts of unspeakable #@$%& at the reflection ... Need some wipes to clean up though. lol
