The Empire being caught that captor they said they killed wasn't actually killed? People would find faults in the Empire and join the Rebellion. You say anguish and such, but I don't think they will express it that bad.

I doubt as well that they would be foolish enough to leave any telling signs or working computers which may be of use to discern their next location. Commander to Admiral TK: Sir, we have an undisclosed asset that is currently reporting the Rebels position, therefore we still have the scent, but when we have a confirmed location, I believe we must strike with "shock and awe". Unless they decide on a civilized location, of which then we must then be much more surgical.
