I agree with the other.

Still one thing : SirNadroj, you're asking for constructive criticism, but in your two first post, when you had the opportunity to get real feedback, you went all "no, I did the right thing". To get constructive criticisms, you must be ready to recieve some and accept them.

Thats a good point, but I ended up taking PSPguy's advice and I did sand it, but I'm certainly taking all the feedback I get to heart, now. *y*

Lighten up man its a joke. :-D :-P :-D
I thought you'd been on Eurobricks long enough to know that this: :-P meant I was joking too. Now, let's get back on topic, shall we? ;-)

Can we see it? *sweet*

Well, you can't really tell 'cause it's still transparent. ;-)

I mean, it's not perfect, but its certainly not terrible. Maybe once I get the hang of this, I'll make something generic that people want... maybe a weapon or accessory? Any suggestions for my next casting project, AFTER I perfect Max Rebo. I'm not gonna rush. :-P

Well I personally think that your Max Rebo looks very good, and I am sure it will look even better when it has been sandified. (Yes, "sandified" is a word :-P ) 'Tis better than anything I could do.

Well if you sanded one and painted it we'd be able to tell :-P I can't wait to see how it looks :-)

I'm not gonna rush. :-P

Always a good idea ;-)

Well, here are some more pictures:

I thought I'd see what he looks like with full legs. Kinda silly, I'd say:

An improvement, I'd say. *y*

Thanks IS!

Do you guys think I should buy the torsos and the legs?

EDIT: Like my new sig? Aren't they precious? ;-)

I'm a little confused about what you mean by "buy the torsos and legs" *wacko*

I was wondering the same thing, maybe he means buy more of those dark blue torsos and feet.

Confused!? ;-) I mean buy the blue torsos and short blue legs from bricklink so I can have complete figures and not the custom head. ;-)

It looks much better sanded. Is the colour what is seems, or is it really lighter? I ask as I think it needs to be lighter. I also think his ears should be bigger....

max-rebo.jpg

...but this is really darn good for a first attempt. At risk of being beaten up, I do think though that you are being a bit cocky trying to sell your first ever custom cast...

Posted

"Great kid, now don't get too cocky!" comes into mind :-P .

I think the color should remain the color of the torso and other body parts as to not have a color difference.

It's infinitely better than attempts at resin casting I've tried, but I'm perplexed by how rough the surface is.

Like, are the grooves and holes we're seeing a result of fingerprints from the initial sculpting?

Or is it a mix of THAT and a resin-casting beginner's obligatory air bubbles?

You're well on the way to something great, but it needs a good deal of refining yet.

I'm just trying to make quality custom LEGO elements avaiable to the AFOL community at afordable prices! ;-)

What you are really doing is using this site to make yourself some extra cash, so statemments like the one above are a little off.

i didn't know what rebo looked like tbh. :-P

anyway, after seeing that pic found by sinner, here's my comment.

i think it works better if you just focus on the head, i.e. remove that torso thingamagie.

I think this is great for your first attempt, but it still needs a lot of refining for me to buy it.

I'm a little confused though... you say that we should take it easy because this is your first try at sculpting, but you're trying to sell it to us. At this point, people aren't really going to care whether this is your first try or not, because you aren't only asking for our thoughts, but our money.

So again, I think this is great for a first attempt, but compared to the quality pieces you can buy from Red Bean or Arealight, this looks bad.

If we going to get techincal. :-P But that's not all I'm doing, I really am taking adive to heart, and I'm certainly gonig to use it once I refine Maxy. X-D

I see where you're coming from. I personally think the stomach makes it look more 'official', you know what I mean? Take Watto, the Ewok, or Gamereon, for example.

What do other here think about the front 'stomach'? :-)

You don't have to buy it. :-P I just wanted to see if they'd sell or not, because the success of this project, once I refine it, determines whether or not I continue making other peices. To sell, anyway. ;-)

I know Red Bean and Arealight's are much better, but it doesn't really make me feel better when we compare. :-$ Again, this is my first, and I'm taking advice to heart. *wub*
