Posted December 3, 200717 yr Doctor Sinister has given me permission to start the poll for his competition. As a recap, the rules were; 1) The item must be something you find around the house. And I don't just mean around YOUR house - so no weird torture devices please - it must be something that you would find in any typical house.2) The item can be as small or as large as you like. 3) The item MUST be constructed of 100% LEGO - however ANY type of LEGO can be used - Technic, Duplo, System, whatever you like. The use of string or elastic bands is permitted, but they must be of the type you would find in a LEGO set. Decals should not be necessary. No gluing or other illegal method of holding your creation together is permitted! 4) The item in question must be practical and capable of doing the job it is supposed to do. EG: a LEGO tape dispenser must be actually useful for dispensing tape. A LEGO mug tree must be capable of supporting the number of mugs it purports to be designed to hold. This is all-important! Below is a montage lovingly created by me using paint :-$ ... please do though only use this as a guide. A few of the entries cannot be appreciated fully with just one photo. You can find details on all the entries here. Let the best household item win! Remember, the winner receives one of the fabled Doctor Sinister badges.
December 3, 200717 yr Thank you for putting this together Sinner! Now I must give some serious thought as to which item to vote for... Dr. S.

December 3, 200717 yr I voted for Iamded and his nice keychain rack *y* And since I currently lack one, I could get the hint and build one myself :-$ Oh, and please leave free poor Batbrick ;-) LuxorV
December 3, 200717 yr It was a close call (that mousetrap is so cool) but I went for Sinner. All the creations are practical, fun and well built but his was the coolest, for me. Thanks everyone for entering my little compo'. Dr. S.
December 3, 200717 yr Gylman's mousetrap all the way - when I considered entering but couldn't think of anything to build, it was the sort of thing I wanted - functional, small and effective. However, can it do the job it's intended for - can it catch real mice? :-D
December 3, 200717 yr Sorry if this seems to be a bit stupid, but where can I see other views of the contestants? (if any) I'd much like to make an informed decision here. ;-)

However, can it do the job it's intended for - can it catch real mice? :-D King :-D gylman still hasn't told us that; he did say though that he tested it on his kids and was planning on trying it out on his wife! :-P Sorry if this seems to be a bit stupid, but where can I see other views of the contestants? So, maybe a better question would be: where can't you see other views of the contestants? :-P
December 3, 200717 yr Gylman mouse trap of course. That's just an awesome item that would have been usefull to me 2 years ago :-D

My bad! :-| Lol, Hinckley! :-D EDIT: I voted for Sinner's money box; it's just too cool, so to speak. It really, IMHO, does its job the best. It's got a simple mechanism which holds the loot and a simple removal system! Edited December 4, 200717 yr by trooperdavinfelth

December 5, 200717 yr I aswell went for the cheese, Glyman got my vote... Unfortunatly I didint get the Instructions I asked him for! |-/ :-P Stauder OK OK, you guilted me, Stauder. I've not been able to connect from home to EB for nearly 2 weeks because my stupid ISP gives me an IP address that many Web sites reject (starting with 99). So finally I set up a proxy server, and here is a link to the more detailed pics that should make it clear how it works. I guess you have to wait for it to be moderated. A few things: -the rubber hands have to pass through the holes in the 1x1 technic bricks, seen in pic3 and 4. You can get a third band in there for extra smashing force -If you really want to build it, the key parts are the 8 x 16 baseplate, three 8 long and one 12 long axles, 2 2 long axles, 5 or 7 rubber bands (depending on how much you want to smash things), 7 2 x 1 technic bricks, 2 1x1 technic bricks, 4 2x2 corner plates, 2 16 x 1 and 2 12 x 1 technic bricks, and I think the rest is fairly clear from the pics. Best picture http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/m...etails/pic7.jpg When moderated http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2855237 I have to say I am quite surprised people are voting for the mouse-smasher. Thanks!

X-D Awesome creations to the other contestants too. *sweet* *y* *y* ~Peace You're welcome :-) . I first came on it on BrickShelf, and only later I did find out it was your entry for this contest. I like it because it's simple, but very nice and useful, imo. And it is quite a change from the classic house-hold items you can see in LEGo inspiration books *y* LuxorV
