Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

-Buzz Lightyear: What the hell did they do to his face? It was perfect before

-Mickey: Ew. Don't like his facial expression and he looks weird with the black bare chest. Somehow I'll be passing up the most iconic Disney character.

-Chesire Cat: Just no. If any one didn't deserve a fig it was him. Always hated his classic design any way. Tim Burton's is way better.

-Buzz: Agreed

-Mickey: Face doesn't bother me, but more and more I'm realizing that the huge bare black chest is an issue. Even with the regular-length legs, it would look a lot better if the printing for the shorts continued onto the torso a bit. He looks too long.

-Cheshire Cat: Complete and utter disagreement. On all counts. I'm quite happy to have him. He might be my fave of the wave.

So many of these just don't translate very well into LEGO form, despite the character's popularity.

I am gonna drop a big ol disagree right here in saying each of these characters are not only recognizable as disney characters but also look as a minifigure should. I think with the exception of Buzz and possibly the size of Genie they nailed the look ofeach and every one. This is exactly what i for one was hoping for and i could not be happier with this. Lets hope Lilo is in a series 2 though.

I loved the fact that they went ahead with regular heads instead of moulded heads for almost everyone. I somehow always hated moulded heads, specially when it's about humans, maybe because the hair and head are always one piece... That's why I didn't get a single toy story set. I hope these look better in official hd images.

I'm guessing most of you would've preferred moulded heads for: Maleficent, Syndrome, Buzz, Mr Incredible, Hook, Genie & Ursula.

I honestly don't know what I was expecting. I was certainly expecting to like a majority of them though, and that didn't really happen. I feel really bad for not liking them, but guess it saves me money in the long run

Buzz head and LGM are the only duff cards here. Everything else looks fantastic!

Seems like Minnie might have a solid skirt piece similar to the Ballerina?

Looks like leg molding and a new torso print for the alien. And now that you mention it, it does look like Ursula has molded boobs. I know they were cartoonishly large in the movie but I didn't think Lego would emphasize them. Maybe it's just the lighting? I'm trying to think of how they would even do this and it's not pretty. Would it be part of the tentacle piece?

It looks like her torso is plain purple

And the black part (boobs + belly + tentacles) is just 1 huge piece.

Syndrome and Mr Incredible look ok.

Maleficent, Buzz, Hook, Ursula and (especially) the Genie needed because they don't have normal head shapes, so they don't translate into LEGO normal heads very well because they lost their characteristic head shape

From those 5, Urusla and Maleficent lookm pretty decent with a normal LEGO head...

Buzz, Hook and Genie totally needed those heads.

Mr Incredible also looks very good, and I think Captain Hook looks great as well.

I like the inclusion of the Cheshire Cat, I'll echo others here about Buzz. At a casual glance he does a look a little odd, but I would much rather prefer a new variant than a rehash.

Ooh! What a great collection. Well done LEGO and Disney for representing so many eras of animated films. And this is, presumably, just the first wave. It's complete conjecture at this point, but if The Simpsons got two series, surely Disney will too?

It looks to me like all the smart choices were made. Characters from throughout Disney's history. Mickey and friends. Mostly normal heads to ensure maximum compatibility. Some female stars, some male ones. Good guys (m/f), bad guys (m/f). What looks like the same head for Mickey and Minnie and the same for Donald and Daisy, with accessories and printing to differentiate them. As has been mentioned, a nice plus is that this opens the door for a Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey later on.

My guess is, these will sell like hotcakes. There's something to enjoy for everyone, I feel. My sympathies to those of us disappointed with the lack of Jafar, Mulan and others, but I imagine we may yet see them in the future.

Well, what I expected was too good to be true for sure Stitch is good, Peter Pan looks like Shaggy. I actually kinda like the Chesshire cat so I'll get him and as for the rest, they are one big UGLY family.

This is like a worse version of the Simpsons series, mostly because atleast Simpsons had 1) Uniform look, since all of them had molded heads and 2) actually came with accesories.

The only one I really like is Ariel, and that's more because it's another mermaid rather than it being a good representation of her. Meh!

This Buzz could be perhaps based on the Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command show, and not the Toy Story movies

I'm warming up to them, I agree they don't look great as a bunch. But the obligatory mickey and friends look good (I just was not that excited for them) but they look great IMO.

Ariel. Hands down my favourite. I think the designers did a much better job with her hair than the minidoll version, I am very happy with her. I'll get multiples (needed to expand the mermaid colletion), I bet she's three to a box, nah maybe 4.

Ursula looks amazing and so shiny, I think one of the reasons she looks the best because her eye makeup makes her eyes very close to the cartoon character version without ruining her lego appearance either. She will almost definitely be 3 to a box, or maybe 2?

Captain hook... we need a better pic with a full body shot, but I'm warming to him, great headgear in any case.

Peterpan, hes good.

Aladdin looks awesome, no complaints.

Alien and buzz, well toystory was during my dark ages so I am okay with these... I can see why people are annoyed but I guess there will be tonnes of kids who don't have these either... plus lego likes to have spacemen in the CMF.

Alice, I want a better look at the bottle she's holding. I hope its printed. Also we need to see a full length picture. I hope she has Minnie's skirt piece recoloured. And her hair piece is new? Thats good.

Cheshire cat looks weird to me, but I think I've been confusing him with lucifer (Cinderella's cat) in my memory so I am going to rewatch some clips with him in. I think he looks weird as a minifig but after looking him up, the head looks accurate.

Maleficent is awesome, happy with her.

All in all, I think there are a lot of individual good looking characters here but they have a poor group dynamic.

Jk, many more good stuff to be seen here: Syndrome, Malifiscent and Ursala are just amazing! Great pieces. Others are fine, not that useful to me, but really quite accurate overall. I like how this series covers the varied scope of Disney animations so much. I'm fairly sure this series will prove WAY more popular than the Simpsons, especially here in Europe.

Agreed. I'll be going after all of these except those two. I already have a Buzz and I have so many LGM's, I'm good. It's clear to me though that they were added to make it easier for the LEGO molders. No worries, I get it. Would not be shocked if Woody was in the next wave for the same reason.

Stuff i'll try to buy:

- Syndrome. I need his doublemolded arms, and i hope he has doublemolded legs too. I need those even more actually. His eyes seem off though. Depends on if he has doublemolded legs if i will buy more

- Mr. Incredible. Just like syndrome i can reuse his arms and legs.

- Ariel. My gf is big fan so a mustbuy

- Ursula. Also a mustbuy for my gf, but also a great fig

- Alice. I do like her whole appearing. I hope she has a cookie too.

- Maleficent. Looks great and useable in legoworld

- Stitch. For my gf. Huge fan. Ohana etc. (would have liked him better if he was a six-arms version)

Stuff i might buy:

- Mickey, because he's Mickey and my daughter likes Mickey and Minnie too (but i hate her)

- Donald Duck. Because Donald Duck. I am just wondering if he has a tailpiece.

- Peter Pan. To make, just like a bunch of y'all, a custom Link.

- Maybe the Chesshire Cat for his freshly colored body and tail. But i don't like his head at all.

I don't care for the rest of them.
