Forresto Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I wonder if the reason we didnt get Abu with Aladdin, Flounder or Sebastian with Ariel, Flotsam and Jetsam with Ursula, Pluto with Mickey, the raven with Maleficent, etc. is that TLG could only include one character per packet, maybe at Disneys insistence? Well that would be a ridiculous amount of new molds which isn't cheap for TLG if it's a one off thing. Sure they did it for the Simpsons but even then only the heads were new molds not the majority of accessories. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Wow, lot of complaints for Alice. She doesn't look bad, if we're talking inaccuracy minifigures, then genie should be getting the complaints. Quote
KCMatze Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 He already got his share of hate, I guess ;-) Quote

Sure they did it for the Simpsons but even then only the heads were new molds not the majority of accessories. Well, its not like TLG needed to make all of them. Really, Abu and Flounder or Sebastian were the most needed, instead of the accessories Aladdin and Ariel got. That would be two molds, or just one (Abu) if the DP molds could be used for Ariels "companion". Of course, the designers might have hit their allocated new mold ceiling, so even one or two new molds might have been unfeasable. But CMFs have a high quota for new molds, thats why I suggested that its a licensing thing. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 He already got his share of hate, I guess ;-) True, very true. Honestly, all of these minifigures are growing on me. I can't wait to have stitch in my collection. Quote
KCMatze Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Oh yes. Stitch is the best!! But I really look forward to the official reveal. Many minds will change from "uuuggglllyyy" to "I got to have those" ;) Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 For sure, they're going to look so much better in the official pictures. I want to see what the people that hate this series, say after they see the official pictures. Quote
strangely Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I wonder if the reason we didnt get Abu with Aladdin, Flounder or Sebastian with Ariel, Flotsam and Jetsam with Ursula, Pluto with Mickey, the raven with Maleficent, etc. is that TLG could only include one character per packet, maybe at Disneys insistence? In the case of Flounder and Sebastian I'm betting Lego is hoping people will buy the sets they appear in to get them. As for the others I'm guessing it has everything to do with the budget for this series. In the case of Pluto I don't think there was really a chance. Mickey already has a new head and dual molded legs and printing. That's already a lot for one minifigure. I think the size would have been a problem too. Mickey already has a gigantic head mold, so sticking a gigantic dog mold in there could have been an issue. I tend to think Pluto might end up being a nearly Scooby Doo sized figure whenever he does appear (Probably in a regular set). Quote
MAB Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Maybe not on Eurobricks, but I've seen it elsewhere. As well as related conversations about minidolls being the superior option for LEGO girls in general, because "real women don't look like minifigs." Well, duh. Neither do real men. Humans aren't trapezoids. It's just one of my pet peeves. I've not seen that argument before, the one normally said is that many girls, especially ones that didn't play with Lego, preferred and identified with more realistic figures. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Agreed on the Pluto front. In many of the cartoons, Pluto is actually bigger than Mickey. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 That pulled back hair style on the Alice minifig is what gives the illusion that she's big. An interesting illusion. Quote
Tech Artist Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) I don't think we've ever had a conversation about a particular minifigure looking "too fat" until this Alice one came along, regardless of gender. I personally think she looks as accurate as she can get while keeping the traditional LEGO minifigure style, but this is not a gender issue or anything like that. My biggest problem is because of how her head including her hair(and upon second glance I think her printing is also causing this), mainly her tiny face, she looks fat. It's a design flaw. Even being standard Minifigure proportion, she comes across a fat. I've seen other skinny characters do quite well in Minifigure proportions. It has nothing to do with gender. It's all about proportions and details. I think the designers could have done a lot better but then again I don't know their restrictions they worked under. Edit: I think once we get official real life pictures a lot of concerns will be alleviated, I hope. Edited March 13, 2016 by Tech Artist Quote
Borex Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I personally think that Alice is one of the better figs of this series. She doesnt look fat to me at all. I do hope she has a same skirt piece as minnie in white. Quote
Shib Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Wow, lot of complaints for Alice. She doesn't look bad, if we're talking inaccuracy minifigures, then genie should be getting the complaints. Amen to that, I'd have really prefered a moulded head for genie, of course I'll still get him but he definitely could have been better. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 lol, I'm way behind the party on this one, but I've just seen Fat Alice…..I'm not sure what to say Completely disappointing they wasted any time on the alien and another buzz, there was no need. As everyone said, pluto would have been far better. I personally would have liked to see Winnie the Pooh/Tigger/Eeyore/Piglet, I know they are not current in Kids minds as there is no current film, but I think that part of the Disney brand is timeless. greenalfonzo Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I was very excited about these, but the more I look at them, the less I want any. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I can't wait until some HD pictures show up because I really want to see a close up of all of them and their accessories. By the look of it now some of the accessories are meh. Quote

sunhuntin Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Not in white, in blue. techinically, it would have to be both, as she wears a pinafore in the animated movie. Quote
MAB Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Too late, forevermore she will be known as "Fat Alice". Quote
