I can see "why not". While a few of the live-action movies have turned out okay they don't even scratch how iconic, magical, and popular the original animations are.

I still think there's a a possibility, after all more than just the classics are popular today. Alice and Cinderella made an absolute ton of money. So I think any franchise that's made Disney a lot of money has a chance. I personally think the majority of the CMF will be animated classics, but I'd like to get a few live action remakes in their two.

Does anyone think that all the minifigures in this series will be only from disney movies? I kind of want them to have a mix of the movies and disney cartoons like Disney's Duck Tales & Disney's Adventure of The Gummi Bears, and even some from the Gargoyles cartoon that was also produced by Disney. The possibilities are endless.

Phineas and Ferb. Please.

I hope I'm not the only one who wants to see a Perry the Platypus minifigure. It would be a great final way to celebrate the show's end.

A lot of TV properties aren't well known worldwide. In many countries, if you don't get the Disney channel, then you won't have heard of them.

They might do more modern because I don't think kids today know about the Gummi Bears or Rescue Rangers (other characters, not Chip and Dale), etc

hmm.. do you think Kim Possible be classified as modern? I mean it's been close to a decade since it canceled (2006-7 I think?). I think a Dr. Drakken and/ or a Shego would be real neat as a minifigure!

I think it would be a mistake if they do. When you think of Disney, you think of the Walt Disney Classics. You don't think of any of the modern Disney films.

Many people think of both. When I think Disney, two of the things to pop into my head are "Snow White" and "Frozen".

Anyway, I think it'd be a while before we saw any characters from the animated TV shows. The classic and modern animated films are much more iconic and recognizable, so this series would probably try to appeal to that.

Adults think of Disney classics, but honestly I'm not so sure kids see it that way. The Disney that kids are growing up with now is not the Disney I grew up with. While I prefer animated Disney classics for this CMF I'm not so sure that's what we'll get.

I mean even looking at the Disney Princess line the majority of the princesses are current or from the renaissance. The princesses from the Walt era don't pop up often (we've yet to see Snow White) and when they do they're usually using those terrible 2013 redesigns. Cinderella has had decent exposure in the line, but none of her appearances even match the movie (her dress was not blue like that in the movie). I can't help but think this CMF will get some of the same modernization (which I'm really hoping against).

There are some remakes I wouldn't mind getting characters from (please no Burton though).

Disney cartoon films, including some of the classics, is absolutely what we'll get (plus Pixar and classic non-film Disney characters). 'Kids these days' know what their parents show them, and I'm sure parents still show their children these films. I'm sure a lot of us posting here (myself included) weren't even alive when a lot of the Disney classics came out, and yet here we are having watched them countless times. Kids have seen things that came out before their time, not just crappy modern television.

Just walk into a Disney store and you'll see lots of merchandise surrounding Disney's classics.

For me, when thinking of Disney I'd probably go for Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Jungle Book, Snow White, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Lion King and Frozen. Toy Story too if allowing Pixar brand. All animation. Of course there are live action films from the present and from the future, but many of them I wouldn't necessarily identify as Disney. They could be any production company, not much distinguishes for example Flubber from Hook. Either could be Disney. Then there are all those old docu-movies such as The Legend of Lobo, I really wouldn't identify it as Disney. I was surprised to see they are still producing stuff like that, often 2-3 movies per year.

I'd agree, considering how most of those "classics" are truly classics considering Snow White came out in 1937 and Sleeping Beauty/Cinderella were in the 1950s. Clearly Frozen is on a lot of people's minds as of now. My daughter loved Tangled and I loved Brave, but most people don't talk about them. It's a few of the classics and Frozen these days.

We will see what happens for sure.

I hope there's no Frozen at all. Getting fed up of that film being everywhere all the time. Not seen it but I doubt it's to the quality of 101 Dalmatians or any of the Walt Disney films.

It's actually a pretty good movie, I wouldn't let the over saturation get to you

I have seen the gummy bears translated in spanish for spanish channels. But you're right, in many countries if you don't get Disney then the Disney cartoons wouldn't be known. I raised the possibility because with Disney there are endless characters.

It has trolls in it so you might actually like it.

Frozen is a fantastic film, as is Brave, as is Tangled. Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella et al have all stood the test of time. If this line is successful and there's no reason to think it won't be I can see them including a smattering from both classic and modern. The princess line has given us the Disney Princesses plus Anna and Elsa but I can see the CMF line being used to bring us things such as James Hook etc... things that wouldn't be released elsewhere. It's kind of a 'no fail' scenario.

I'm curious as to where you people draw the line between "classic" Disney and "modern" Disney. To me, everything from The Little Mermaid onward is modern.
