I know what everyone else knows, he just seems to be a good source, and has official pictures of other sets.

I know just as much as you. No info from anyone on this particular series. Seems like they're keeping this one under wraps.

Parts of the list? Yes. All five Inside Out characters? Hardly plausible.

Wouldn't it make more sense to do them while the movie is fresh than in several years, though? If they're all going to be in "CMF" form at all, it actually would make sense to me to do the lot of them all at once, since it's just five key characters (granted, there are other like Bing Bong, but I think the emotions would be the main / only ones they'd do in a Minifigures series).

I honestly think it'd be reasonable to expect a princess or two in this first series. Disney will have a quota to fill for female characters and the princesses are their most notable. It wouldnt make sense to exclude them, especially if we go on to have multiple series, which I HIGHLY expect will happen. The mini doll thing really isnt an argument. Thats a full fluedged theme aimed at little girls, this is just a minifig series aimed for boys and girls

I don't know...Childhood obesity is on the rise.

That said, LEGO should put the figures that they want to put in this series, in this series.

Agreed!

A few princesses should be likely enough. No real reason to expect any different.

They're not going to release all the fan favorites at the same time. So we should expect two/three princesses or regular female characters, five villains (mix of both male and female), six classic male characters, and two creature characters.

I wouldn't expect all of the fan favorites, but a few out of their growing stable of princesses shouldn't be an issue. Happy to hear a handful of villains and creatures are likely. I'm hoping for Maleficent as a villain, Stitch, Sulley, and of course, Beast as creatures. Although, perhaps I'm misunderstanding, and creatures are meant to represent the classic Mickey gang. Still, I'd like the ones I mentioned, and from the Mickey gang I'd take a Sorcerer's Apprentice, Steamboat Willie, or Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, however unlikely they'd be. Also, Pluto.

Also, to those who think Beast and Sulley should be in bigfig form: That's still a possibility. The Incredible Hulk from Marvel has been represented multiple times as both a bigfig and a minifig, so anything's possible. I'd probably get both sizes for these Disney and Pixar characters.

Except that all of the main Toy Story characters have already been released in Lego form so they might not be top of the list for a new range of toys.... especially with such a diverse range of characters to choose from.

I disagree, if any Pixar franchise is included it will be Toy Story and Buzz and Woody are the two most iconic to come from Pixar films. It would make no sense to not include them.

Wouldn't his box be huge?

I imagine it would be slightly bigger than Buzz but not 'huge'.

Buzz and Woody have been done before so they have a chance of appearing but thats also why they may not. Not to mention the new movie scheduled they have more of an opportunity in future as opposed to other characters and titles. Popularity of the characters wouldn't play a huge part as it could be argued the emotions from Inside Out are currently more popular considering they are fresh and we haven't gotten any huge Toy Story content since 2010. It could go either way and would make complete sense no matter what they choose.

I'm sure that is what he meant by "huge" as in bigger than the actual figure. Assuming it fits a Buzz inside it would be too "huge" for the plastic CMF bag. Would be like packaging a Vampire with a coffin, it's just too "huge" to fit in the bag.

I just don't see why they'd include Pixar if they don't intend to add Toy Story. It's their biggest hit and the one animated franchise everybody immediately associates with Pixar. I'd expect Buzz and Woody in the first series, then either Mike and Sully somehow or Mr and Mrs Incredible in series 2.

I am wondering if we may not see The Incredibles, but instead see The Incredibles 2 sets when the movie comes out in (?) 2019.

Of the Incredibles characters, Edna Mode and Frozone might be the easiest to make. And Frozone would be another Samuel L. Jackson minifig. The Maggie body might be too big to represent Jack-Jack.

Posted (edited)

Maggie's body is also totally inaccurate for Jack-Jack in any of his appearances, as he's never in a onesie. But Elastigirl using the Friends hair and Mr. Incredible with the Bill Murray hair could work. Dash could use Dooku's hair, and Frozone would be easy. Edna could very well use the Egyptian Queen hair. I think Violet and Syndrome would be the only ones that could use new hair pieces.

I am such a Pixar nerd...

Thats because you are young. You look maybe 14-15 and I remember at that age I'd have opinions and be stubborn as hell with them (still am I guess), nobody could tell me otherwise, same with you now. Toy Story while being a huge success and an iconic Pixar property, hasn't been utilised in over 5 years. It isn't as much in the public eye and until the new movie comes out it most likely won't be. It would be reasonable to assume that the characters may be left alone to give other characters a chance to shine, considering they also have another opportunity to have sets with the new movie. However it also would be reasonable to assume they'd leave them in. It's unreasonable to say it's likely because it really isn't. It's 50/50, and saying they will appear with certain accessories and then saying other characters (who also may or may not appear) will be included in second waves and so on, really belongs in the speculation/ wishlist thread. Because as of now most characters have that 50/50 shot.

What this list tells me, if real, is that this is a line that will continue for a long, long time.

They're including some classic figures (Peter Pan), some filler figures (less popular Disney characters like Tarzan), and a full suite of current figures (Inside Out). You sell the hot new characters to kids, rope in the adults with the classics, and save a lot of the hot-ticket figs for future waves with the less popular ones. If you run through all the popular ones now then the future waves won't sell.

In that regard, this list makes perfect sense to me.

I never really bought into this list. There was too much about it that didn't make sense to me. And I know we're past that now, but this was a pretty convincing argument for the plausibility of the list's contents.

What I don't get is why they thought that sounded convincing. Perhaps leaving Tarzan and Jane would have led to less skepticism.

I agreed, until I read the post above. Tarzan and Jane, collectively, was one of my main sticking points with the fake list. I've just never considered the Disney versions of Tarzan and Jane as anywhere near the most iconic versions of the character or even iconic Disney characters, unlike, say, Peter Pan or Aladdin. But I know a lot of that has to do with age and exposure, so those are just my reactions, and yet still I don't really expect them to make the cut, at least not initially. The inclusion of "filler" of sorts does make a bit of sense, and as filler goes, it lives up to that, for me, but it still seems too early for these two.

As far as rights and such go, as has been mentioned, I imagine it's similar to the situation with the Wizard of Oz, where one company retains the rights to market their particular versions of the character. These characters are clearly still present in merchandising, but other companies are able to make and market their own versions (Wizard of Oz is public domain, I believe), as long as they don't infringe upon certain particular aspects. There are tons of Oz adaptations, but all of them are very clearly not tied to the MGM version of Oz, as the Dimensions versions are. /tangent

Thanks for the lecture...

I think wild speculation is what makes this topic so fun. Sure, not every rumor turns out to be true, but the alternative is to sit on our hands and leave the forum quiet until Lego releases the official photos. Not much fun in that. The rumors and guessing can be really entertaining, even if it's far-fetched.

Personally, I don't think Lego has to release characters that come in pairs in the same series. If they released, say, Sleeping Beauty (fixed after 8brick commented ) in series one, it'd make people more interested in coming back to get Maleficent in series 2. They can string one theme through several series, just like they've done with the standard CMFs.

Amen, brother.

And whenever it is, wherever it is, I'm all over Maleficent in minifig form. Bring it.

You know at Disney World they have a real life Pizza Planet inside the Hollywood Studios park but they DON'T have a crane machine?? My wife and I went in specifically to try our luck at getting one of those guys...

Well this is just the saddest thing in this whole thread. Twelve thumbs down

That list had some good points, goofy and Daisy not being in the first series is smart. They're not going to release all the fan favorites at the same time. So we should expect two/three princesses or regular female characters, five villains (mix of both male and female), six classic male characters, and two creature characters.

Yeah, the list wasn't that bad, as far as believability. It did have some questionable bits, though, with the biggest being the complete lack of princesses, specifically ones utilizing the brand-new dress piece from CMF series 15. I've never seen Mulan, so I can't engage in that debate, but there's no chance I will believe any list that doesn't include a dress-wearing character. (I've never seen the Disney Tarzan either, so I have no idea if Jane wears a dress or not for the majority of the film). Whether or not I'm right is up in the air, but until there's an actual announcement, I cannot believe TLG would introduce that awesome new piece and then not put it to use here. In my mind, there is no way. It's not possible. I hope I'm right.

Everyone knows something but me :laugh:

I know something*

The post you were replying to outlined the exact reasons why it is possible and, arguably, probable. Pixar is far more than just Toy Story, and that's one of the few they've already done. Not to mention the upcoming chance for a line solely devoted to Toy Story 4. There are so many other characters for whom a CMF line would be the only chance. Someone already mentioned him, and I agree, I totally want Ed Asner (Carl from Up) in LEGO form.

Hang on. How the hell do you know what I look like? :sceptic:

For the record, I'm 19 but I look about 12.

And I would disagree that Toy Story isn't in the public limelight. This Christmas alone Toy Story is on TV at least three times (possibly more as I haven't looked at repeats): Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. These are the Pixar films you always see broadcast, whereas you rarely come across the likes of Finding Nemo or Up.

it isn't as prominent as it once was or will be when Toy Story comes out. Whether you agree or disagree it's irrelevant to the reality that it doesn't have more of a chance to any other Pixar films at this time for the reasons I've already stated. All characters are on a level playing field when it comes to be chosen for a minifigure series 6 years after the last Toy Story and 3-4 years (I think) until the next one. I would argue Cinderella is the most iconic Disney Princess, she already has sets, and will most likely have more chances in future... but her popularity or current LEGO status wouldn't affect the outcome for next years CMF series. If she is there she is there. Same with Toy Story. Again just saying, I think it's just unfair and unreasonable to say one property or characters have more of a chance over another when we practically know next to nothing about this series so far and that speculation and or wishes belong in that (/those?) threads.

And I stumbled across your fan fiction about a month ago trying to read up on Doctor Who before the newer episodes came out here. I was like "I recognise that name from somewhere...." Every post had a link to your Facebook, may want to change that if you are going for incognito ninja like uploads
