Ultron Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I just saw the tail end of a commercial for Zootopia. Checked on IMDb, and its release date is March 4. Could we finally get an Idris Elba figure? The best chance we have is with Thor 3 so unless we get sets for that movie...no. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I've never ever heard of this gargoyles show. The only gargoyles I know are from the hunchback of notre dame. This show also doesn't sound this popular to me, not like Ducktales at least. I'm sure they won't do figures about them. Really? It was a good show that aired in the 90's. It was popular here in America, at least it was popular to me. I don't think LEGO will make them into minifigures. Quote

I don't think LEGO will make them into minifigures. Well I life here in the Netherlands and I'm not sure it even aired here. Or perhaps it did but just wasn't that appealing to me. At least I'm sure it wasn't popular here, otherwise there would have been some reruns. Quote
JaseTJ Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm from America and have never heard of it... Then again, I wasn't alive for half the 90's. Either way, I would consider myself fairly Diseny-knowledgable, and I highly doubt they'll throw in anything like that in their first series. Quote
Ultron Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm in my early 20's and used to watch the show when I was young. I remember enjoying it, but not much past that. Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm in my early 20's and used to watch the show when I was young. I remember enjoying it, but not much past that. It seems to be a lesser known. The first series will most likely focus on major, well-known characters, and not much, if anything, last that. With eighteen character slots and hundreds of characters over the years, there are many we won't see. The chances of any TV characters except say Stitch are pretty slim. Quote
Huigberts Builds Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Well I life here in the Netherlands and I'm not sure it even aired here. Or perhaps it did but just wasn't that appealing to me. At least I'm sure it wasn't popular here, otherwise there would have been some reruns. Ok, so I did some research and found out it did air in the Netherlands, however not on the most logical channel to watch it (well at that time nothing did actually) and it switched to another channel at some point. However no reruns. The show looks actually pretty cool and sounds inserting to watch. However I still don't see them doing figures out of them. Even when they will do figures based on animated TV shows they will probably go for very popular ones like Ducktales or ones who still still air. But still I shouldn't expect to much of it, just some main characters (which in my point would be perfect already (I want Scrooge and the triplets so badly, and actually the remaining characters, but to be honest, that won't ever happen). So no secondary characters (yet, there is always this small chance it becomes so successful and goes on forever :p, let's hope so). It seems to be a lesser known. The first series will most likely focus on major, well-known characters, and not much, if anything, last that. With eighteen character slots and hundreds of characters over the years, there are many we won't see. The chances of any TV characters except say Stitch are pretty slim. Stitch is officially a movie character, he just got his own show(s). Actually just like Aladdin (to just say a name), however the only difference is that stitch is a Disney original character. On the other hand, there are also TV shows that got movies, like Phineas and Ferb. Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Or better yet gets multiple series a year, like normal CMFs, rather than waiting a year at a time! On another note, any word on the new D2C? (I know the general public knows nothing at the time, but does anyone have news to share? On another note, any word on the new D2C? (I know the general public knows nothing at the time, but does anyone have news to share? I'm afraid we won't get multiple series a year for now, probably like the Simpsons. I also think many fans don't want that since it takes another spot that could have been used for the normal series, maybe when it gets really popular (where I'm sure of). I'm thinking Disney wants to squeeze out everything they can get from this, so who knows, multiple series? Sets? About the D2C cmf set, nobody knows anything yet. It's probably not the Simpsons however, we think Lego gave up on this theme. I'm pretty curious. Quote
Zoshi Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm really hoping they'll do something with Big Hero 6, one of, if not my favorite Disney movie The Princesses in minifigure form would be nice too. But how likely would that be? Quote

Yea, gargoyles is out of the question, ducktales would make more sense. But I don't think we will see any disney cartoon characters in minifig form. Quote
sunhuntin Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 sadly, i never got into gargoyles as a kid, but i found a goliath action figure with fabric wings at a thrift store a year or so back. bit of thread and a pin, and hes hanging from my ceiling. ive watched a few episodes online, and can see the appeal. i admire the designs. goliath looks like he could be beasts cousin. he would need the fauns legs in the right color, the gargoyles wings and torso, and likely a hair piece to get the correct head shape. tail would likely be a new mould. dont know if scratchy's would be the right style or not. Quote
gedren_y Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 The Gargoyles show tried to appeal to the tween market, but the viewing time didn't make much sense (at least when it aired here). The whole Angela - Demona story got a little confusing, and getting around how the Gargoyles breed was difficult for a children's show (US censorship at the time). The characters wouldn't really translate well to minifigs in any event. The CMF Faun legs could work, but the CMF Gargoyle wings are too small, the wrong shape, and don't move. Also their tails go from thick to thin, and their ears and hair are different enough that none of the elf or LOTR/Hobbit orc headpieces will work. For one figure you'd need four new molds; left wing, right wing, tail and hair/ears. That kind of expense would make sense for sets, where three of the molds would be used for most figs, but there is no current show, so no. I don't see Scrooge McDuck happening in a first series, but Prof. Ludwig Von Drake could happen. He's a regular on the current version of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. So are Pete and Clarabelle. Chip and Dale make the occasional appearance, but at the scale would be microfigs. Mortimer Mouse is there too. (There is a non-Disney Mortimer Mouse from the old Sunday comic Outland, which was portrayed as a sort-of anti-Mickey,) The series began in 2006 and is still running. Quote
Dorayaki Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) I'd love to see it. I mentioned it a while back at wanting to see some characters from the Disney cartoons like gargoyles, duck tales, chip and dale rescue rangers & the adventures of the gummi bears. But i don't think LEGO will do it. Chip and Dale might appear as microfigures in this series or as minifigures in further series. I also miss the TV shows you named and would love to see them, but based on the fact 90's or 00's shows don't appear in recent Disney toys nowadays, I'm afraid to say their chances are not big. Though I support to see some TV show characters, I think the ongoing ones would own the advantages. I just saw the tail end of a commercial for Zootopia. Checked on IMDb, and its release date is March 4. Could we finally get an Idris Elba figure? Unless they really want to push it, I doubt that'll happen. Until it proves to stand the test of time, it's unlikely to get figures. Not sure about it's potential in LEGO so far. It might be a choice for regular sets, but we now know it won't be in 2016 spring catalogue. If no regular sets, it would be nice to get a Judy in this series. As for other recent Pixar films, IO has been discussed. Spot appeared in Disney Infinity and could be a choice, but I personally think he's a kinda weird choice (Arlo isn't the main figure and Tarzan seems to be a more iconic Disney jungleman.) I'm really hoping they'll do something with Big Hero 6, one of, if not my favorite Disney movie The Princesses in minifigure form would be nice too. But how likely would that be? Considering Marvels, I think Big Hero 6 deserves a regular line treat, and LEGO skipped it on purpose, obviously. And Baymax has killed the possibility in this series, we all know that. Well, we can hardly see all Disney Princess members in this line, so I'm afraid it wouldn't be what you wish for. I'm afraid we won't get multiple series a year for now, probably like the Simpsons. I also think many fans don't want that since it takes another spot that could have been used for the normal series, maybe when it gets really popular (where I'm sure of). It's probably not the Simpsons however, we think Lego gave up on this theme. I'm pretty curious. Heard from the regular series discussion, LEGO's production lines are reaching their limit, which means they don't want to do more than three series per year. I would say that Disney series, if it has very good potential, should stay as once a year cause other chances have to be open for more linceses or special themes. In conclusion, I think either Ludwig, Pete or Clarabelle is considered secondary to the main M&F group. So let's wish that this series can come to a success so it would eventually be their turn in further series. Edited January 2, 2016 by Dorayaki Quote

Coca-Cola Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 i think BrickFit26 meant no tv show type cartoon characters, gargoyles, kim possible, phineas and ferb etc. goofy and donald seem quite likely just on account of them being staple Disney characters. Quote
rollermonkey Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Well, regardless, I don't think Pete's worthy of a first-wave appearance. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and Goofy are much more well-known. I honestly don't think this series will consist of 18 A-list characters. Knowing Disney, more like 6-8 A-list, 6-8 second tier, and 4-6 niche characters. With the way figure distribution works in CMF boxes? If all 18 were A-list, there would be a lot of angry people. I think the Gargoyle's wings would work just fine. As much as 2 differently articulated wings would be nice, I don't think it's necessary. And while they are a bit small, I don't think it's such a problem that they couldn't be used. The tail and headpiece would be the only new molds required, and shouldn't be too much trouble to do. However, as much as I would love to see them, I doubt any Gargoyles would be in this series. It was a popular show, but still a bit older and obscure, and I don't think that's where they're going with this. I don't see Scrooge McDuck happening in a first series, but Prof. Ludwig Von Drake could happen. He's a regular on the current version of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. So are Pete and Clarabelle. (There is a non-Disney Mortimer Mouse from the old Sunday comic Outland, which was portrayed as a sort-of anti-Mickey,) The series began in 2006 and is still running. I definitely see some of Mickey's gang of friends making it in this series, but to use Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as the basis for this doesn't work. The show is aimed at preschoolers, so if anything they would be marketed as Duplo figures. Of course, I still see any of the main staple characters as possibilities (including B or C list characters like Scrooge, Ludwig, Pete, Clarabelle, Chip, and Dale), just making a point that the referenced show is definitely for a younger audience than the Collectible Minifigures series. notpennysboat Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) I loved Gargoyle it was quite popular here in France, the french opening is still on Youtube :) In 90's, we got programs like 'Disney Club' or 'Disney Parade' with Disney Movies, tv show (Gargoyles, TaleSpin, Goof Troop, Scrooge McDuck, Darkwing Duck, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Aladdin, The little Mermaid, The Gummi Bears, Winnie the Pooh etc...) Some great moments as a child :) I'd love in future series some characters like Baloo (from TaleSpin - Super Baloo in French), Darkwing Duck (named Myster Mask in French), the Junior Woodchucks (les Castors Junior) with Junior Woodchucks Guidebook (manuel des Castors Junior), Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers (Tic & Tac Rangers du risque) etc... gedren_y Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 About the MIckey Mouse Clubhouse viewers, my point wasn't about the current children watching the show, but those that have watched the show before in its 9+ years run. Many of them will be of an age to be buying CMFs, and should remember the characters. Quote
