Amazing Bricks Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) These look amazing, stitch is hands down the best looking one out of the molded heads. Not the best series but pretty good nonetheless. Everything rumor related was correct, I find Cheshire cat pointless, but who cares. Edited February 29, 2016 by amazingbricks Quote
9v system Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 no elsa or anna? that's disappointing Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 These look amazing, stitch is hands down the best looking one out of the molded heads. Funny, kind of the opposite for me because I think his eyes are too wide/small and he's too bright and bold. Darker blue would've worked. But hey, at least we're getting him! Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) The Toy Story alien's disappointing since he was pretty common from the Toy Story theme (I have 3 of him) I have 23 of them, and I'd still like even more, but... well, looking at the pic, I can see the collar is different, even though it's very similar to the previous one. Ah, well. I guess I have enough anyway. I'll still get one of these for completeness, but let others build their own PPA armies from this series. and it's odd how they gave Buzz a normal head amongst all of the other molded heads They're... well, consistent, actually. All the characters who appear human (at least from the waist up, and if you ignore color - including such non-humans as a mermaid, a genie, a toy figure, and so on) have traditional minifigure heads; all the ones who are more overtly non-human have special heads. They're following the same rules here for this series that they do with LEGO Star Wars characters. But it is different from how they normally do other cartoon characters, as well as how Disney presents the characters at their theme parks. Edited February 29, 2016 by Blondie-Wan Quote

I mean, I like how he's included, but their were better options. Also Ursula has a huge new piece. It's the tentacles and fat on her connected to make one piece. That's brilliant and it looks good on her. I don't think we've ever seen anything like that. Edited February 29, 2016 by amazingbricks Quote

Even though I prefer the molded head, I'm happy that we're at least getting a different version of Buzz. I would have preferred a different character altogether, but if we're going to get Buzz again, then I think this was the best way to do it. Quote
Jern92 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 They look kinda... ugly. Or maybe it's just me. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I respectfully dislike nearly all these minifigures, but I absolutely understand what drove TLG into making such. Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 It also looks like Ursula's leg piece has a torso piece connected, giving off that big look! Quote

CM4Sci Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Hey, do you guys think Woody will keep his head is he's in Series 2? I can't help but think a normal minifig head for him would be weird. Quote
Brickity Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Yay for fat ursula. Hadn't noticed that belly. Quote
Robert8 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Well.... The Cheshire Cat looks good... I guess. I think he is my favorite from this series Symdrome and the Toy Story Alien are the most accurate to the characters And that's it about it Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 The new Alien has a brighter collar and dual molded / printed short legs! If I didn't already have almost two dozen of the old ones already, I might receive the change more enthusiastically, but oh well. I know they'll be awesome for all those who weren't as fortunate as I was when getting the main Toy Story theme. :) I'll still get at least one or two of these, anyway, but I won't army-build them. rob-ot5000 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) First thought: CHESIRE CAT MINIFIG! I WIN THE INTERNETZ! Follow-up thoughts: -Cheshire cat looks amazing!! -As do Peter Pan and Aladdin, in particular. New hairpiece with incorporated fez!! Updated 11th Doctor hairpiece, just need it in brown! -Buzz Lightyear looks awful, IMO, but just because I really like the molded head version and would have preferred that, since I don't own it yet. Some people seem ti like this version, and that's cool, now we have both, I guess. But the Alien is just odd. Dual-molded short legs really didn't seem necessary to me, but it's been a long time since I've seen the movies, maybe that's more accurate. -Captain Hook needed the molded head. I know some people will prefer the version we got, but man, I think he needs it. He's the only one the I don't really care for just because of that. Genie, Maleficent, Ursula, etc all look fine with normal heads. (I'll still get him, though) -The Mouses and Ducks definitely seem too tall. The proportions would look better with short legs. But that skirt piece is interesting! Love the heads! -Maleficent and Stitch both look great (though I don't care about Stitch), but it's really weird that everyone has a counterpart/co-star except these two. -Alice's face looks weird. Couldn't tell you why. But is that a new hairpiece? It looks wavier than I recall seeing. Lots of cool new hairpieces! -CHESHIRE CAT!! WOOO!! Okay, I guess that's it until I read the 37 posts made after I started typing. Edited February 29, 2016 by rob-ot5000 Quote
just2good Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) The new Buzz head looks bad, IMHO. People always complain about moulded heads but this is why we need 'em for some. Moulded-head Buzz is one of my favorite figures ever and this new version just makes me like the original more. Hopefully the Toy Story 4 sets use the moulded head. Actor Builder Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I respectfully dislike nearly all these minifigures, but I absolutely understand what drove TLG into making such. I respectfully agree whole heartedly. My main disappointment is with Genie. That one could have been a lot better. Mickey and his friends are truly scary. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Well, except for Jafar. I said take that rumor with a grain of salt, but whatever. Quote

Agreed, but assuming they do a Series 2 and use the same rules they're clearly using for this series, that's apparently what they'll do. Now I wonder also whether they'd still use the longer arms and legs, or go to normal-length ones... Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Well, except for Jafar. And the 2 princesses. No 2nd princess. And Mulan with Mushu. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I never confirmed mulan, so I don't know where you guys got that from. Alice doesn't count as a princess? Oops. Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) -Alice's face looks weird. Couldn't tell you why. I think it's because a) the character seen on film has a somewhat heart-shaped face, much narrower at the chin than at the cheeks, quite unlike the uniform thickness of the typical propane-tank-shaped LEGO minifigure head, and b) movie Alice also has notably bright blue eyes, as opposed to the quintessentially LEGO black dots seen here. That said, I still like what I see of her, and i plan to get her along with everyone else. Edited February 29, 2016 by Blondie-Wan Quote

I respectfully agree whole heartedly. My main disappointment is with Genie. That one could have been a lot better. Mickey and his friends are truly scary. I actually really like the Genie figure, I think I turned out well. The grin really helps sell the face. And the ears are quite interesting. All IMO of course. What were you hoping for from a Genie minifig, exactly? This looks about like I had hoped, so I am curious. As for Mickey and Friends, yeah, they look....off. Not so much "scary" as "incredibly disconcerting". Some of these figs, I'll need to see better pictures or to see them IRL before I decide. I think it's because a) the character seen on film has a very heart-shaped face, much narrower at the chin than at the cheeks, quite unlike the uniform thickness of the typical propane-tank-shaped LEGO minifigure head, and b) movie Alice also has notably bright blue eyes, as opposed to the quintessentially LEGO black dots. Yeah, those are both solid points. I don't think she looks bad, per se, but I don't know if I like her. Oh well, there's plenty that I DO like! Quote

He would look a lot better if they didn't stick out so far over the top of his head. It also gives him a huge forehead. Quote
