Father, I have to write to you about this wonderful invention a local carpenter has! We were having trouble siting our batteries along the cliff, since the guns cannot fire below the horizontal much. He made this carriage, upon which we have mounted 9-pounder guns, that hinges at the front. In this fashion, we could site the guns at the cliff edge and still protect the beach.

Your Son,

Lieutenant Jean-Luc Sarrazin

We've deel a lot of wooden fences and pallisades the last time, but I really like this one! The canon is nice too, as is the background

Great idea, but I foresee one major problem; how do you stop the balls simply rolling out of the cannons when they are hinged forward? I think we Corries remain safe for now! pirate_satisfied.gif

Nice forced perspective! The background doesn't take a lot of attention away from the foreground but gives a much greater depth to the whole scene :classic:

Hahahahahaha! Genius! Nice wooden fence as well !! pirate_tong.gif

Thank you!

Great FP! The cannon arrangement doesn't look like it could support much weight, but otherwise a clever idea!

This was my inspiration for the gun carriage. Extra wadding is used to keep the ball in the cannon, and the carriage stays pretty much in place as the gun recoil up the slot.

Thanks, I was worried I'd built the background for naught, since it was so unfocused. I think next time I'll work on setting up the shot so it's all in focus.

Damn you Oleon! Corries are supposed to the clever ones round here! I guess we're in trouble after all. Helmets on lads!

Great use of an historical protype as well, I love that sort of thing.

That's a very clever idea and a nice history lesson. I just hope the recoil doesn't cause any damage to the carriage.

You did a very nice job with the forced perspective. It really captures the appearance of an elevated battery overlooking a bay.

One question, where did you get those cannon balls?

Clever, well executed and great blurring of the background.

Brilliant, just brilliant pirate_satisfied.gif

Thanks!

Thank you, I have plenty more historical oddities to draw on later.

Thank you very much! The cannonball stack is a Brickarms prototype - I recieved a few for my contributions to the Bricksburg display at the last BrickCon. Each layer is separately molded so I can make the stack smaller, partially gone, or have someone holding a single round.

Awesome forced perspective, TS, and very nice cannon and palisade as well, really lovely MOC in every respect! pirate_satisfied.gif As to the background being out of focus, you may try getting it in focus next time, but you will find that it actually looks far better and more realistic like this, and conveys the FP much better! pirate_wink.gif:thumbup: Great job!

Excellent forced perspective (leave the background out of focus!) and clever cannon innovation as well. The palisade looks nice, and that stack of shot is great even if it ain't the genuine stuff. The single pic really works great under the circumstances. Good work. :classic:
