In the future, you may see some sets have both old grays and new grays in the same box.

I hope that all the whining AFOLs who have complained non-stop are happy now, we will get a mix of coloured parts! |-/

I would prefer it for them to just use one of the greys from now on, but it looks like they may be using some old grey parts to clear stock and save money.

Doesn't bother me either. It would have done if they were putting them together but it soudns like the old greys are going toi be very limited. Sounds fine.

i'm not happy with the news either, but most, i'm worried that TLC is not back on track as we've been hoping... TLC has made quite a few changes and this suggests that they're not paying off.

jan Beyer said on "de bouwsteen" that in future, it's very well possible that minifigs will have to be assembled as well. today, TLC still puts the head on the torso before packaging and that seems to be too expensive, so they're thinking of not assembling them. in future you might have a head and a seperate torso in the plastic bags... i've never understood why TLC assembled these before packaging anyway... but it's also weird that TLC "warns" us about this way before the actual decision about this has been made...

I really don't think it is that bad, I hope that this decision is ONLY taken to shorten their cost of production, once the old colors are gone, they will be gone for good.

So I don't think we should be alarmed by this decision ;)

Well if Lego would quit making bad decisions, he might have good news to bring us. Though this isn't all that bad. It could be quite nice, or it could be a disaster.

Its already hard enough to tell the difference between new dark grey and black in the instructions, let alone having two shades of greys to deal with? And even if that is solved then we have to sort out which 1 x 1 plate the new grey and which is the old? I don't think my poor eyes can handle that strain! Maybe Lego will pack the new greys separate from the old?

And I'm sure there are all kinds of other implications I haven't even considered yet.

Will the sets that had the old/new grey mix be continued with only the new grey?

If that is the case, it could become a crap shoot as to which version you're going to get.

Not really something I'm looking forward to.

This is good. It shuts up the whiners (they can't whine for a straight year about how it's all going to end, so when it does they'll all be out of steam), and it gives us more old gray.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING - they're selling SO MUCH that they're having trouble keeping up with production. Anyone hear that? :-D

What's done is done at this point. Why don't they just make some bulk old gray sets at a discounted price to move the old inventory and thus save mix up with old and new gray in the same sets? Would not surprise me in the least that sets will be missing new and old gray with this decision.

I've said it a few times, my only issue with the change in grays is train track which at one time (I think mentioned by Jake) was that Lego would continue to make sets like train track in the old color (which did not happen).

We'll see what happens.

i don't think that mixing the colors is a bad idea. what i meant is that TLC first decided not to mix them up, and now it seems the board told Jake to tell the community that they've changed their mind... i mix all sorts of grey in my spaceships. it gives the impression that the ship has some sort of a history...

I don't think its all that terrible of an idea. There are some down sides to it, particularly those points I raised earlier about confusion. What really gets to me is that specifically told us they would not do this, and now they are. Not that I really expected them to hold to their word (or more accurately had no reason to think they owed it to us), but it would have been nice to have been plesantly surprised.

Nope! I'm just saying it would be cool. All they're doing is getting rid of old stock. I personally think a speckled wall design for a castle would be incredible and very realistic.

Yes, I have seen some big castle creations used both greys and bleys and they looked really cool! Dunno where those were shown anymore though >-|

They were still using traditional dark grey in the 2004 Pirate theme - unless that's more unused stock.

I think most will be normal brown but they will be odd patches of rust brown too.
