Batbrick Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Although, it's a great feeling when it's a holiday or your brithday when you grab the presents and you shake the box to hear what the contents are.....augh the memories! :'-) __________ He He....I still do that! X-D Heres looking forward top King's Castle seige on christmas day! :'-) I ALWAYS let people know of my lego hobby. when you don't have much, people think its a bit weird, but when you have a lot, people go : X-O And see it as a collector thing. I naturally still pay with my lego, but most people I know think that Lego is a great toy anyway. Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Tanotrooper Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I usually buy it, sometimes at LUG weekend my dad "buys" me some... how to explain your still playing with lego: I'm in a club with adults and together we make giant lego maquettes. X-O wow TT Quote
iamded Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 It kind of takes the surprise out of Christmas, but I don't care! X-D I ask my parents, or think out loud when browsing in store, so they see and hear what I want, and put it on lay-by for me. :-D This year I'll be unwrapping King's Castle Siege and Skeleton Ship Attack. :-D Whenever I get Lego as a gift for Christmas or my birthday, it's the only times of the year my 19 year old sister gets to (and wants to :-P) help with the build, so it's quite fun. ~Peace Quote

You have a member of your family who actually wants to make lego with you? *wacko* Unheard of for me! You must be lucky! Everyone in my family just keeps saying "thats cool!" over and over again when I show them my lego. My eighteen year old sister did that today with the Battank |-/ Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Only on one day of the year. :-P 2 if she decides to on my birthday. X-D Still, it's fun. It only restarted last year, when I got Mistlands Tower, after about 6 years or more when she was still into Lego. It first started (I think) when we got this wonderful Castle as a joint Christmas present. *wub* *wub* ~Peace Edited December 20, 2007 by iamded Quote

What a nice story, me and my brothers and sisters used to play "shops" when we were young, building and "selling" cars and stuff using 1x2 plates as money :-D We had great fun, and we all used to play with each other's lego and give each other stuff like that for christmas :'-) Then they grew up and I didn't! :-D We still have fun though. Everytime I get a set I show my family proudly and they always say something like "Oh thats a great ship" or, "Cool" I need to convert my family to Lego! Quote
xzanfr Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Me, my brother and my friends buy it for each other all the time. Me and my brother make sure we get at least one set on our birthdays and christmas each!! (I'm currently sat next to 7991 dustcart that I'm thinking about keeping for myself and getting something else for him!) For my 33rd birthday I got the big tie fighter (in my avatar) and an at-st from a friend and I've just opened the advent calendar bought by his girlfriend for me...(more reasons to keep the dustcart!!). We've always built together and really enjoy the big technic kits with one picking the bits and one building, then swapping. We've done this since the late 70's and it works as long as you don't spill beer in the sorting tubs! I hope this doesn't sound weird :-/ Quote
Brickadier General Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Well, I'm 22 and my family still gets me Lego sets as gifts. They never gave me any trouble about it saying that I needed to "grow up" or anything. Instead, my dad often raises the question, "don't you have enough already?" haha...Never! Other than that, my friends don't really get me gifts, but they know I still tinker with Lego bricks. Some used to make fun of me for that, but once they've seen what I made I generally get more respect about it. And when I meet new people, I eventually show them my hobby and the reception is usually pretty good. Some people though, will never get it, and it's just best to ignore them. When I was at the NMRA show in 2006, an older gentleman walked by and asked me why I wanted to be " wasting my time playing with this stuff" at my age. I thought to myself, well why are you over here gawking at the Lego layout if you weren't remotely interested in it? What does age have to do with it? Regular model trains like Lionel were originally intended mainly for children, yet he didn't seem to have a problem with middle aged men tinkering around with those. Quote
