There is a saying in Bellson. When someone suggests the outlay of large amount of funds, people will often respond: "Don't be ridiculous! Do you think I am a Montoya?" pirate_laugh2.gif pirate_laugh_new.gif pir_laugh2.gif

 love it

If I am correct, MCTC still can sisterlicence the HoE if they don't manage to win the bid (and I would suggest adding a rule: and if the winning bid is higher than the initial licencing cost)???

A sistership of the HoE can be licensed whenever, provided the owner of the blueprint rights (Capt Wolf) is agreeable.

So whenever a MOCed ship is lost, the MOC can be split 2 ways?

One for he who captured it, and one for the original owner?

That solves some problems for us indeed.

If we get outbid and have to go to a sister ship, we will. I'd probably change out the sails to differentiate it.

So when do we find out the winning bid?

May I add something?

As you can always license a sistership, it will be very rare that the original owner buys back his vessel himself.

Look at it this way: I am the original owner, and I can buy back the vessel, or simply pay the license fee and have a sistership ready. Therefore, it would be irrational to pay more than the license value (unless I am emotionally attached or unwilling to let others have her).

However, John Doe does not like to build ships, but would still like to participate in the MRCA, so he places a premium on a vessel that is already moc'ed and ready for use. Therefore, he will bid more than the license value, and win the bid.

Is this the outcome of these auctions we want? For me, it seems counterintuitive to the story.

In other news, when will we hear the result? :)

12:00 and the results are:

Bregir has won the Heart of Eslandia with 410 DBs.

Legostone has won the La Raenette for 30 DBs.

Please fill out an adjudication form informing the game masters of your purchase.

That's certainly the way this auction has gone! pirate_wink.gif

Done! Didn't expect to win it, but 30 DB for a class 2F isn't bad at all. Lets hope she stays safe this time!

Btw, can the actual highest bid be published too? I would really be interested in seeing that too!

Captain Reyngout is relieved to be leaving Bastion, but he returns to Nova Terelli in shame, a final voyage on the HoE to deliver it to its new owner. default_sad.gif And a Corrington owner at that! <sigh>

Should it not be the transaction forms?

@All:

In the interest of full disclosure, would it not be best if all bids are made public post-auction? So that we can see that Kai has handled it impartially?

If the other bidders agree, I too will allow my bid to be public.

Me too...

Daamned, MAESTRO really wanted that ship to stay competitive with MCTC as they can licence a sistership...

Looks like our bid of 405 wasn't high enough...

I thought Bloody Bill belonged to one of the NPC factions. Payments to NPC Factions do go down the sink. It just doesn't create any error flags in the calculations if the payment is sent an NPC account like Carno, Garvey, or Mardier.

Of course in the interests of transparency I'm quite willing to divulge the bids. I personally think there's something to be said for keeping them secret so others don't know what you're typical bidding trend is but after all that might not matter a whole lot, so if popular demand is popular enough, I will release the bids. pirate_laugh2.gif

I didn't realize there were actually established NPC accounts. If there are, and if there's one for Bloody Bill, then he should be the one getting paid.

Just for the NPC factions, not individual NPC characters. I think Ska just comes up with those out of thin air. :pir-laugh:

I could make one for Bloody Bill. :pir-wink: The accounts list is simply a list of all possible people, settlements, and factions spending or receiving funds.

It really doesn't matter to me how this is handled, whether via the adjudication form to just directly subtract the DBs from the purchasers or via the transfer form to transfer the DBs from the players to a money sink. It's just a technicality so let us know which is easier given the way things are (being) set up.

That would be fun to see how much bloody bill could make before one of the factions finds him and kills him.

:pir-laugh: I added an NPC account for Bloody Bill. Is he a Sea Rat or part of another faction?
