Kwatchi Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) Edmund Milton had been a minor partner for trade consortium headquartered in Belson. After a series of catastrophic events decimated their trade convoys, the company was delinquent on a number of loans. Rather than face Debtor's Prison himself, he fled with the firm's remaining wealth (damning his partners in the process) and bought passage eastward to the Terraversa colonies. He avoided the ports of the "civilized nations" for fear of recognition and established himself amongst the Sea Rats where his past would not be of concern. Using his contacts with smugglers and merchants of 'less than stellar conscience', he acts as a trade factor for successful pirate captains looking to sell off the unwanted loot from their most recent prize. The high value cargo (e.g. molasses, tobacco, bananas, rum, ginger) finds its way on to merchantmen heading westward, but the rest is sold at auction. It is at Milton's auction house that a less successful buccaneers might be able to stock up the necessities once a fleet comes in; everything from captured ships to slaves to pistol shot will eventually come through the auction floor and can be yours for the right price. Milton is devoted member of the old faith and begins every bargaining session with a prayer to the patheon of three. But rather than a gavel he uses the butt of a pistol to signal his decisions, because the gods alone can't protect you in such company. My brother got me watching Black Sails as of last week (only two episodes in; no spoilers you louts!) and it had me thinking about how Sea Rat captain's in BoBS would dispose of unwanted ships and loot in the absence of having an official prize court . So I dreamed this up. While it is as bit larger than 16 x 16, I can't decide yet if I'll consider it a small or medium commercial enterprise in game terms. Property: Small commercial Status: Licensed Edited September 12, 2017 by Kwatchi Quote
Garmadon Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Very nice courtroom - erm, well, kind of, I guess! - Kwatchi, the Nexo shield looks great for the window there, and group of figs and platforms are excellent as well! Quote
BrickOn Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) Neat, story, idea and build! And I do like Black Sails, almost wants to make me turn to piracy... I won't give anything away though :-) But back to the build, that shield is cool, almost makes me want some nexo knight stuff :-) and I like the stands, the crowds look almost orderly. Personally I don't think it can be anything other than a small build in terms of licensing, but see what others say. Edited April 6, 2016 by BrickOn Quote

There might a recurring theme in my builds... but what do I know. If I ever bother licensing stuff, it'll likely end up small anyway based on cost alone, and it is much closer to 16x16 than 32x32 so that makes the most sense anyway. Frankly, I need my order of tiles to finally come in so I can start building bigger scenes. Edited April 6, 2016 by Kwatchi Quote
Tomsche Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I love Black Sails, but it won`t turn me to the black. Not to say QV has some Nassau influences though (the sailor beach for one) A very nice build, and I too love the use of the nexo shields! Quote
CelesAurivern Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Lovely mercantile scene. The Emporium would love to acquire something like this. Quote
dr_spock Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I bid a nice build. I think this would fall into the small license category too. Quote
TitusV Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Neat build, I like the Window and the furniturz Quote
