DrJB Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I'd like to setup a dedicated computer in the Lego Room and was wondering if anyone has successfully ported LDD to a Linux system e.g. a Raspberry PI. I'm almost sure the answer is No, but thought it never hurts to ask. Quote
roland Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Don't know if LDD plays nice with WINE, but you will also need the full OpenGL (not ES) driver on the Raspberry which has been added (experimentally) to the pi 2. Quote
SylvainLS Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) LDD does play mice with Wine (never used it any other way ). But, besides OpenGL, it also needs RAM. The 1 Gio of the last RPi’s will be short. Edit: Oh, and by the way, the RPi’s are ARM, I don’t know how far Wine works with x86 exe’s. Edit 2: Yes, x86 exe work in ARM-Wine, via Qemu: https://wiki.winehq.org/ARM and https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17701 but not officially supported…. TomKraut Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Don't use a RPi! Compared to even a five year old Core2Duo it's extremely underpowered for desktop use even without trying to emulate a whole x86 architecture with QEMU. Just get an old PC, either from friends or eBay, complete with a Windows 7 license and use that. Should be even cheaper than a RPi. Cheers TomKraut Quote
