Eddie_Young Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) If you like my Claw, please support on LEGO Ideas to make it a real set. In this MOC, I used a system of beams working as levers and push rods to carry the movement from the handle to the claw. I also used springs to make the whole mechanism reset when you let go and a couple of rubber parts to give the claw a good grip. The result is this amazingly useless, yet immensely cool thing that can hold a weight of more than 2 kg! To demonstrate, I made a video of it lifting the huge LEGO Technic bulldozer. (the video can be found on the page linked above) For a further description and some more photos please visit the link and also check out the update when there. Thank you Edited April 26, 2016 by Eddie_Young Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 That is awesome! Will there be instructions or should I just reverse engineer it? Quote
syclone Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Awesome! Supported! Btw, it's 42030 Volvo Loader ,not bulldozer Edited April 9, 2016 by LXF Quote
dtoerien Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Excellent, I could definitely do with one of these. Presumably there is a potentially useful application for this, though? Quote
frankvanderboom Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Excellent, I could definitely do with one of these. Presumably there is a potentially useful application for this, though? this kind of equipment is used all the time by handicapped people who have to reach stuff while they're in their wheelchair, or by elderly people who cannot bend and have to pick up stuff from the ground. Or by people picking trash out of the parks, they use claws like this too. I think it's awesome btw, it's a very clean design! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Very original idea! Clever building technique for an amazing MOC! Quote

Victor Imaginator Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Weird... Useful thing for grabbing a cat, or can of beer... I just can't decide why i really like this thing) Quote
Eddie_Young Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Weird... Useful thing for grabbing a cat, or can of beer... I just can't decide why i really like this thing) That's exactly what makes it so likeable...the fact that there isn't much to like about it Awesome! Supported! Btw, it's 42030 Volvo Loader ,not bulldozer Oops, ok I'll keep that in mind this kind of equipment is used all the time by handicapped people who have to reach stuff while they're in their wheelchair, or by elderly people who cannot bend and have to pick up stuff from the ground. Or by people picking trash out of the parks, they use claws like this too. I think it's awesome btw, it's a very clean design! Thank you, and that is just another aspect of this project's coolness: primarily it's just a play feature for, maybe, attacking a LEGO city but it also is an actual piece of equipment used by lots of people every day. That is awesome! Will there be instructions or should I just reverse engineer it? I will post the LDD file when it gets more support (maybe 1000 but probably less), just to give people a reason to support. Thanks for the feedback, please check out my other project, too. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/133316 Eurobricks post: http://www.eurobrick...opic=122961&hl= Edited April 9, 2016 by Eddie_Young Quote
