Posted December 12, 200717 yr So after reading that alot of people would like to get the Mechanic that Indy fights in Raiders of the Lost Ark, i decided to have a go at making a version. This is a pre-fight version so no blood i'm afraid X-D , anyway i quite like him and think he came out better than expected. Oh and please note that i can't take all the credit for this figs torso, i roughly based it on a muscle torso i found on BS. Comments and suggestions welcome. :-)
December 12, 200717 yr That's excellent Vader! Can we see a splattered version? :-D Real nice. Where do you get your decal paper? Is it laser or inkjet?
December 12, 200717 yr Author That's excellent Vader! Can we see a splattered version? :-D Real nice. Where do you get your decal paper? Is it laser or inkjet? Well i did think about making one so yes you can expect one, I'll also do a few other customs from ROTLA. The decal paper is laser, though it's a bit thicker than i would like so i'll be getting some thiner soon as the torso looks good but the face shows abit too much for my liking.
December 12, 200717 yr This is really nice Vader, but one thing bothers me: The eyes seem a little too big. -Chuck
December 12, 200717 yr That looks great, you can see the face is printed a little, and the eyes are indeed a tad large. but the torso's very clean and looks just like it's a printed torso. Good job! Are you gonna make a vig or something with him?
December 12, 200717 yr Excellent torso, just looks like a real one ! I really like the face aswell, you just pictured the character perfectly ! WHere did you find a blank fleshy torso ?
December 12, 200717 yr Author This is really nice Vader, but one thing bothers me: The eyes seem a little too big.-Chuck Indeed the eyes are slightly bigger then they should be, i shall be making them smaller and also i might darken all the facial hair. Tiber i might do a moc once i have a Indy fig. Jipay i found a torso on Brickshelf, it was done for that cartoon Dragonball Z i believe. I basically did my own version whilst using the other as a reference, i changed a few bits like adding the belt and pants etc.

There's Lamanda2 (who's a member here), and Nickgreat (who I wish was a member here :-D ). This is a great fig, and I agree especially for using what you call "thick" decal paper this is really hard to tell it's a decal at all 8-
December 12, 200717 yr I like the fig, Vader--I do think the changes you mentioned would make it stronger, but it's a great start.
December 12, 200717 yr Great custom, *vader* ! Apart from the big eyes and the thick paper for the head, I think it's a top level MF *wub* LuxorV
December 13, 200717 yr Well i did think about making one so yes you can expect one, I'll also do a few other customs from ROTLA.Well, that was easy. *sweet* Cool! Can I give you a request list? I'll start with melty face Toht. :-P The decal paper is laser, though it's a bit thicker than i would like so i'll be getting some thiner soon as the torso looks good but the face shows abit too much for my liking.I get my paper here. They're nearly brain dead when it comes to shipping so don't expect it cheap or fast, but the paper is excellent.Jipay i found a torso on Brickshelf, it was done for that cartoon Dragonball Z i believe. I would imagine it's a Patrick (from Spongebob) torso with the nipples brassoed off. :-$
December 13, 200717 yr "Ya, ya, come, come here." Heh, I love him *wub* . He looks great. The facial hair is spot on and the belt and shirt/pants at the bottom is great. Though, I can agree that his eyes are a bit big. You should also try to see if you can get some decals on for the hips. Cool!

Ahhhh i see, yes the torso is a Patrick one. I placed the decal on the back side of the torso, then removed the nipples etc from it.
December 13, 200717 yr Great work! *wub* Actually a set with him and the plane would have to be one of my top dream Indy sets; that plane was so cool! Do you have an Indy yet? You could bash up a quick plane and make a great scene for them! :-D

December 13, 200717 yr An excellent Mechanic Vader very accurate, my only small complait is the size of the eyes but you have said you will probably change them so it dosnt matter ;-) Is there anyone else you maybe making? I hope to see more! *y* *vader*
December 15, 200717 yr I've been wanting to comment on this for a while but was busy with the Index, so better late than never :-) Very cool!Great Job Vader, Its hard to notice that you are even using decals, great technique being applied here too!! You have captured the mechanic very good, all you need now is Indy and the flying wing :-D Hopefully TLG will make a set with the mechanic, Indy, Pilot and the Flying wing *wub* P
December 18, 200717 yr Author Ok let me start by saying thanks to everyone for their comments, i have taken onboard most and tried something different. So i have re-designed the figs face, i based it on the german soldier/Bruce Wayne fig head. So here goes: I think it now looks alot better than before, oh and below is a little custom pic that i might do a better moc of at some point. So opinions please :-)
December 18, 200717 yr Enjoying your new Indy Lego, then, are ya? :-P . Anyway, he looks alot better now. I'm not sure if it is the angle, but his face seems smaller than the other German next to him.

Maybe i am :-P I think it looks smaller because he's slightly behind the soldier and to the right, i made sure that the eyes are the exact same size.
December 18, 200717 yr Maybe i am :-P I think it looks smaller because he's slightly behind the soldier and to the right, i made sure that the eyes are the exact same size. He does appear to be further back, so I suppose that's why. The German appears larger, in that his torso and legs seem bigger than the mechanic, which make it ironic that a soldier is larger than he is! Keep the awesome work.
December 19, 200717 yr Looks awesome, mate. The head looks great, he looks much more sinister. Now for the post-airplane fig X-D Also, are you still planning to redo this on thinner paper (not like I can tell the difference anyway), or have you called it complete for this one?
December 19, 200717 yr Author Also, are you still planning to redo this on thinner paper (not like I can tell the difference anyway), or have you called it complete for this one? I will indeed be doing this on thinner paper, i just wanted to get it right before doing so.
