Vader Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 So there's been alot of talk about the new Anakin Cartoon style face lately, so i thought i would have a go at making some. Below are 2 custom Jedi , Luminara Unduli and Mace Windu along with the offical Anakin. I'm pretty happy with the way Luminara Unduli turned out. But much like my Raiders mechanic Mace suffers from thick decal paper, the cloak on mace is something i have been playing with for some time but have yet to perfect. Comments are welcome as usual. Starwars4J Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Fantastic job! X-D Out of the two of those, I'm sure we'll see a mace, though he won't be sporting that stylish cloak! 8- Quote

Hinckley Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Your artwork is fantastic Vader. We've talked about your work before, so you know I love your custom figs. I wonder what program you use. Is it Photoshop, Illustrator or paint? I would really love to see your work on thinner decals. Clearly you have to use white decal paper for the colors, am I right? The white decal paper I have is a little thicker too. Have you tried applying a clear coat before application to help thin it out? The stuff I found at decalpaper.com has a good constistency. Just don't expect them to ship it quickly or use the correct postage... :-| Quote

It's a great design package (though hard to learn at first), it allows for you to really test your design skills. I currently use clear labels, they are pretty cheap and most printing shops have them. As i'm still doing different prototypes i have continued to use them. But when i'm ready i will switch to a much better and thinner decal paper. Quote

What type of printer do you use? Because I use laser and I don't have that great of luck with printing dark colors on clear decals. Everything appears wet on darker torsos. The printing turns out way to transparent to be effective. The decal paper I get from that link I provided you is very thin and once you put clear coat over it, you can barely tell it's there-on torsos and faces... Quote
KimT Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Awesome...I envy Your custom minifig skills. *y* *y* *y* KimT Quote
Brainbox Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Ooh, liking the cloak on Mace. Nice work. Quote
jedikermit Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Vader, great design work--both of them look like they fit right in with the Clone Wars style. You might even convince me to like that style! :) I'm intrigued by Mace's cloak? Did you sew it? Glue it? It looks very good, especially considering the eensy-teensy scale. Quote
iamded Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Wow! Nice! These look really good! Have you tried them without the black outline 'round the eyes? ~Peace Quote
PrincessAriana Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Beautiful work on the figs, Vader. Looke a lot better then Lego's versions (no offense to Lego). Are you planning to make anymore CW figs? Would love to see that happen. Quote
Vader Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 The cloak is stuck together with a very fine line of glue, anyone trying to make one shouldn't use to much........ Trust me on that as i once got one stuck to my fingers X-D Princess i might do somemore but not sure which ones to start with. Quote
Hinckley Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Princess ... Were you talking to me? :-$ Quote
